Talk:Bas'l Tinnerson Jiuba
She lives with Quinn and they aren't sleeping together. I feel this is notable. -- Kai 23:43, 22 June 2006 (PDT)
ROUGH DRAFT AND NOT FINISHED
LOL
Mother, father, five siblings, four grandparents, countless aunts, uncles--nevermind the nieces, nephews, and cousins--Bas'l's family is a rather large and sprawling affair. She wouldn't tell her mama (who is prone to quite a temper), but she stopped paying attention to all the special names given to this or that relation--it was enough that they were family, and family is Important. After all, her life has been, primarily, her family.
Bas'l's family, like many of the humans in Terumahilana, shared land and living spaces with a great deal of the extended family. At one point in time, Bas'l's Grand-something had told her, their clan structure was the same as that of the dragons with whom they share the island. However, humans are not dragons, and so things were adapted to better suit their needs.
Living spaces were cramped, certain luxuries limited, and chores were both numerous and tightly run, but a big family meant many things to Bas'l; extra playmates, extra confidantes, extra stories.
She always like the stories of Great Akki best (he was her Great-Great something--she thought maybe an uncle, but she didn't dare ask). Great Akki told old stories about his side of mama's family, about heroes, gods, theives, and sailors. He told her, once, a story about her middle name; Great Akki had told her that it had once been the name of a great sailor of the family, who had made himself and his family rich by clever trades amongst the Argovian islands. But one day he announced to his family his intent to begin trade to the large island to the north. After setting sail, the Sailor Tinnerson was never seen again.
