Background

Jansen Arvin Cade is a ... well, that is a hard topic. He was originally just a straight up bounty hunter. But, over the years, his policy of "no rudimentary mercenary work" was ... mellowed. He's also a business man, having made (and added to) thousands and thousands of gil after acquiring weapons for the rebels in the Malachian War. Now he owns his own real estate business, which thrives in both the city and in outlying towns.

Jansen was born in 1292, in Ordana. He lived an ordinary life, playing with his cousin, and being at odds with his strict father, who was a former soldier in the Baronian army. Eventually, Jansen left to find his fortune, and some years later, found himself right smack dab in the middle of a conflict in the Valthi Civil War. Like in most conflicts, people died, and Jansen saw fit to relieve a fallen soldier of his weapons, namely a heavy pistol and a shotgun, and escaped. (He returns periodically to steal ammo, and on one occasion, be arrested for murder.)

Upon one visit back home, he met a Baronian dragoon named Rune, and fell utterly (and unrequitedly) in love with her. She travelled with him back to Doma (and helped him out with said murder charge). But eventually they parted ways, and to cope with not EVER having her around, he began bedhopping in earnest.

Shortly after, on another run to Valth, he was captured by a Valthi named Zatreize, and using a mind controlling weapon named the Armada Gauntlet, attempted to kidnap the queen, but overwhelmed and killed Zatreize before he could be sucessful.

Later on, once war broke out, Jansen decided to help the rebels (partly due to the fact that demons rarely hold up their end of the bargain), staged a massive theft and stealing a cache of weapons from Valth and gave it to them at their base in Hyral Castle. Once the war was won, the royalty paid him handsomely for his efforts. And, instead of frittering it away on women and wine (well, frittering it ALL away), he invested it in a business, and manages to keep it quite lucrative, easily increasing on the money he received.

However, a man like Jansen could never be content to sit behind a desk and count gil. He regularly takes missions just to chop up the tedium.
