Briefly

A small country in the northeastern parts of Igala, it rests north of the Shuman Mountains, opposite of Valth. For the most part, Evringshal is heavily forested, and predominately human. Non-humans are very rare; elves and the more exotic non-humans are not to be found there.

Government

The government is a hereditary monarchy, under the Evringshal Dynasty. The current King is King Zachary I. There are five provinces within Evringshal. The Central Province is Sarcordia, where the capital located. Aldwell is to the south, along the Shuman Mountains. On the northeast, along the coast, is Selium, where a majority of the sea-based trade happens. West of Selium and north of Sarcordia is Corsa, which is more oriented toward the rich fishing grounds. To the west is Mirwell, which lies along the frontier of Evringshal, and the Black Forest.

Uncivilized areas

The Black Forest represents a dark spot in the history of the nation. Once, it was a beautiful, sylvan forest. However, the actions of a crazed druid corrupted the forest into a nightmarish place full of hostile creatures and unholy blendings of nature and dark magic. It does a lot to stymie the nation's westward advancement, and tends to made the frontier of Mirwell a very hostile place.

North of the Black Forest, within the borders of Corsa, is a tract of woodlands called the Eltienne Wood. It is believed that an ancient people dwell there, though no one in Evringshal has ever proved their existence. Still, this is enough to stop the people from trying to expand into it. More than enough old-wives tales of those who tried float around to discourage it.

Relationships with other Nationalities

So far as trade, Evringshal provides a good deal of lumber and ore to the rest of Igala. While self-sufficient, it does tend to import a number of regional goods from other nations. The Black Forest, the Shuman Mountains, and the Eltienne Wood discourage overland trade as a whole, so Evringshal has developed a thriving sea trade, and a good navy to keep their sea lanes free of piracy.

Diplomatically, Evringshal is on good terms with most other nations. In particular, it enjoys good terms with Doma, Curatori Faiyar, and Nekonia. Nekonia's ties have come rather recently, due to the king's personal interests in Nekonian culture.

Though isolated by land, Evringshal has historically maintained a mounted postal corps known as The Green Riders. They serve to deliver messages all throughout Igala, knowiing safe paths through many of Igala's hazardous areas, and are sometimes the unspoken names behind Igalan diplomatic ventures.
