"Marispola was once a highly technologically and magically advanced society but they kind of did themselves in. They sought to successfully tap into and harvest Gaera's magical energy. It was a HUGE nationwide expedition that was planned for over decades, envisioned over centuries, but the magical energy was so powerful it ripped Marispola asunder. That catastrophe over 700(?) years ago is the source of the numerous whirlpools in Argovia.
"It is also why Argovia has airships. Not all of Marispola's knowledge was lost and some of it's ruins get washed up in various places. Alahana and Dillidan have them most and they are used soley as merchant ships, but the bastets are parts dealers and they enchant many of the ships to fly."
