The Alliance of States was a pact between the early settlers of Barius which facilitated cooperation against the native Barian demons.
Three years after the Alliance was formed, the demons responded by gathering to expel the new humans from their home. The demons invade the city of Feld, then-capital of the Alliance. The city, unprotected by any anomalies, fell quickly, and the leader of the alliance was slain.
The only other to take up reins of the Alliance was a man named Rankland. The Alliance then came to be known as "Bar-ee-uss"--named after the demons' death-cry. Unity came to the humans of the island as every populated city joined the Barius Alliance.
