She wouldn't tell her mama (who is prone to quite a temper), but she stopped paying attention to all the special names given to this or that relation--it was enough that they were family, and family is Important. After all, her life has been, primarily, her family. Bas'l's family, like many of the humans in Terumahilana, shared land and living spaces with a great deal of the extended family. At one point in time, Bas'l's Grand-something had told her, their clan structure was the same as that of the dragons with whom they share the island. However, humans are not dragons, and so things were adapted to better suit their needs.
