Adamantine

The much-rumored adamantine is a metal of mystery. It is known to exist, so the debate for that is not very lively. However, how rare it is and what its properties are remain a competitive field.

In truth, Adamantine is an annoying metal. It is extremely hard, making smithing with it near impossible. It is also extremely heavy. A sword made of adamantine would weigh more than a normal sized house. However, it is possibly the strongest metal anyone has ever encountered. Almost nothing can break it.

Experiments with Adamantine are few, mostly because of the rarity of the metal. A suggestion made popular is to employ an alloy of Adamantine with Mithril, which could possibly make the hard metal lighter, without compromising its strength. While this has not been done yet, in theory, it may work.

Adamantine is of such rarity that if you ever find a piece of it, you can sell it and retire. A vein of the metal is unheard of; nobody has ever found one. If you happen to find a vein, name your price, and it will be paid a thousand times over.
