(7:45:03 PM) You have just entered room "onortho."
(7:45:15 PM) SongstressEnlil has entered the room.
(7:46:00 PM) Brodzky Zero has entered the room.
Brodzky Zero (7:48:19 PM): *ONO RTHO O_O*
Idran1701 (7:49:54 PM): So, you both ready? :O
Brodzky Zero (7:50:09 PM): *I was born ready.*
Brodzky Zero (7:50:17 PM): *That is, First could be played by an infant.*
Idran1701 (7:50:20 PM): But Zero! YOU WEREN'T BORN
Brodzky Zero (7:50:27 PM): *I WAS HATCHED FROM A COMPANION CUBE*
Idran1701 (7:50:33 PM): YES
SongstressEnlil (7:50:36 PM): <Professor SpiffHat>
Idran1701 (7:50:40 PM): THUS YOUR SQUARE STRUCTURE
Idran1701 (7:50:45 PM): AND THE HEART UPON YOUR CENTER
Brodzky Zero (7:51:10 PM): <His barely hominoid gimp>
Idran1701 (7:52:16 PM): <An entire society of Law>
Idran1701 (7:53:09 PM): *Karl continues to sit in the waiting room of the Orthan subcouncil, with nothing to keep him company but his bodyguard and his preparations.*
Idran1701 (7:53:24 PM): *He's quickly given his tea, at least, but even that's soon gone.*
Brodzky Zero (7:53:42 PM): (First's tea too?)
Idran1701 (7:53:50 PM): (Yes!)
SongstressEnlil (7:55:40 PM): (If Zero hatched from a Companion Cube, does this mean that if he speaks, we should disregard it?)
Idran1701 (7:56:01 PM): (When has he ever spoken?)
Idran1701 (7:56:04 PM): (Are you okay, Pervy?)
Idran1701 (7:56:16 PM): (I think he's going crazy, Zero. :O)
Brodzky Zero (7:56:25 PM): (Indubitably.)
SongstressEnlil (7:56:50 PM): (Idran is speaking with Zero. He will recieve a failing mark)
SongstressEnlil (7:57:09 PM): *Tries to be patient, while preparing himself for the task ahead.*
Brodzky Zero (7:57:16 PM): *Is praying!*
Idran1701 (7:57:42 PM): (Yeah, you're definitely going crazy, Pervy.)
Idran1701 (7:58:00 PM): (Anything new to add to his preparations besides what you went over the end of last time?)
SongstressEnlil (7:58:09 PM): (Nay sir)
Brodzky Zero (7:59:20 PM): *Karl may note that he is praying to the idol. The idol is set next to the fire statue. They are of the same subject!*
SongstressEnlil (7:59:54 PM): IM: Aha. I should have known.
Idran1701 (8:00:10 PM): *After about 45 minutes of waiting, the door into chambers opens, and a woman in Harmonium dress leather steps through.* Karl Hendrick, you're summoned before the Council.
SongstressEnlil (8:00:29 PM): *Nods* I am ready.
Idran1701 (8:00:52 PM): When you enter, approach the central podium and stay silent until the meeting's called to official order. Answer all questions posed to you as fully and as accurately as you're able.
SongstressEnlil (8:01:06 PM): I shall, thank you.
Idran1701 (8:01:07 PM): Keep interruptions to a minimum, try to speak only in response to a question posed to you.
Idran1701 (8:01:19 PM): *she nods* Then follow me, sir.
Idran1701 (8:01:26 PM): Your security may join you in chambers.
Brodzky Zero (8:01:27 PM): (Here is your buzzer. Please phrase your responses as questions.)
SongstressEnlil (8:01:44 PM): *Frowns just a tad* First, come. And consider yourself bound by those rules.
Brodzky Zero (8:01:50 PM): *Stands and makes to follow the Hatmensch.* Okay.
SongstressEnlil (8:02:20 PM): IM: So I am merely to serve as a trial witness. How encouraging.
Brodzky Zero (8:02:22 PM): *Gathers up his posessions.*
Idran1701 (8:02:45 PM): *And she turns, heading down the hallway*
SongstressEnlil (8:03:13 PM): *Follows, after gathering together all of his things.*
Idran1701 (8:03:17 PM): (By the way, the one thing I didn't prepare? How in the world I'm going to keep an organization of 7 political NPCs straight color-wise. :D)
SongstressEnlil (8:03:43 PM): (Roy G Biv?)
Brodzky Zero (8:03:50 PM): (Assign them numbers and like 1: Yo; 2: Sup)
Idran1701 (8:03:55 PM): (You really want me to use yellow? :D)
Idran1701 (8:04:04 PM): (Zero: That is the coward's way out!)
SongstressEnlil (8:04:11 PM): (I would assume you'd use a darker yellow)
Brodzky Zero (8:04:16 PM): (If it's good enough for Flashman it's good enough for you.)
Idran1701 (8:04:23 PM): (Pervy: Heh. Perhaps!)
Idran1701 (8:04:54 PM): *The three head down the short hallway; busts of various important political figures lines the walls, some civilian, but the majority Harmonium officers.*
Idran1701 (8:05:30 PM): *Ahead is an open archway, and a set of stairs bast there leading up to a central podium, already set up with two chairs for the pair of them; Karl's in the center, and First's at the side.*
SongstressEnlil (8:06:02 PM): *To the podium, and has a seat; and a look around.*
Brodzky Zero (8:06:54 PM): *Stands near the Hatmensch*
Idran1701 (8:07:53 PM): *Around the podium, just slightly raised, are six seats, each with removable name-plaques attached. Directly ahead of him is a more central seat, raised above the six, with its own plaque as well.*
SongstressEnlil (8:08:15 PM): *Reads the plaques*
Idran1701 (8:08:28 PM): *Some names seem human enough, one just slightly off, and two definitely not.*
Idran1701 (8:08:36 PM): *From left to right, the six:*
Idran1701 (8:09:00 PM): *Thangfod Bluebottle, Breinrik Resindirk, Gail Caldwell, Thraxsiffalianat, Shelia Valusek, and Harrison Elmore*
SongstressEnlil (8:09:25 PM): (That last one is a lich.)
Idran1701 (8:09:26 PM): *And the seat between the two groups of three, raised above the level: Gregor Themyn, the person whose signature is on Karl's diplomat permit.*
Idran1701 (8:09:39 PM): (Why do you say that? :O)
Brodzky Zero (8:09:48 PM): (There's always one.)
Idran1701 (8:09:57 PM): (UNLESS THERE'S 7)
Brodzky Zero (8:10:33 PM): (Yeah but you can't count 6 of those because they are all part of an Over-illichid)
Idran1701 (8:10:49 PM): (It's called an Alhoon. >:)
Brodzky Zero (8:11:02 PM): (Ulitharid.)
Brodzky Zero (8:11:07 PM): (Six tentacles!)
Idran1701 (8:11:09 PM): (No, that's different.)
Idran1701 (8:11:14 PM): (An illithid lich is an Alhoon.)
Idran1701 (8:11:25 PM): (An Ulitharid is just a really powerful illithid.)
Brodzky Zero (8:11:27 PM): (Yeah but what is an ulitharid lich)
Idran1701 (8:11:31 PM): (An Alhoon.)
Brodzky Zero (8:11:37 PM): (Really?)
Idran1701 (8:11:41 PM): (Probably!)
Brodzky Zero (8:11:48 PM): (Ulithalhoon)
Idran1701 (8:12:56 PM): *Not long after Karl settles in, he can hear the doors close behind him; soon after, the woman that led him to the podium calls out from a spot near them*
Idran1701 (8:13:02 PM): All rise for the convening of the Diplomatic Subcommittee on Prime Colonization and Expansion!
Brodzky Zero (8:13:24 PM): *Looks over to the lady. Is already standing, what up.*
SongstressEnlil (8:13:25 PM): IM: ...Hell.
SongstressEnlil (8:13:31 PM): *Stands*
Idran1701 (8:13:43 PM): (:D)
Idran1701 (8:13:52 PM): (KARL LOVES POLITICAL TRAPPINGS)
SongstressEnlil (8:14:04 PM): (OH IT'S NOT THAT)
Idran1701 (8:14:31 PM): Elected councilmen and councilwomen, please come forward and take your seats!
Idran1701 (8:14:54 PM): *The three leftmost seats are filled, one at a time:*
Brodzky Zero (8:15:23 PM): (Requesting a quick MS Paint of the room so that I may know what is up spatially. Unless it's not important.)
Idran1701 (8:15:30 PM): *Thangfod Bluebottle, a hobgoblin - dark red skin and a blue-capped nose, pitch black hair tied back in a pony tail, and a dour look, wholly disapproving.*
Idran1701 (8:15:40 PM)
: (It's not especially important, but I'll try to get you one after this.)
SongstressEnlil (8:16:06 PM)
: (I would like all the points where a sniper is likely to hide marked on this map)
SongstressEnlil (8:16:33 PM): IM: If Sigil had not atrophied my ability to feel surprised...
Idran1701 (8:16:38 PM): *Breinrik Resindirk, a dwarf - fairly cheerful looking, with a deep-brown hair and build, from what Karl can guess just a few decades into adulthood.*
Brodzky Zero (8:17:10 PM)
: (I wonder if First could survive a headshot.(
Idran1701 (8:17:25 PM): *Gail Caldwell, a human - somewhat older, with a few touches of wrinkles around her eyes and a few streaks of grey just starting to appear in her light-brown hair.*
Brodzky Zero (8:17:30 PM)
: (Karl: *Is showered in a mist of tarblood.*)
Brodzky Zero (8:17:36 PM): (First: Ow :( )
Idran1701 (8:18:20 PM): Appointed officers of the Harmonium, please come forward and take your seats!
Idran1701 (8:18:43 PM): *moving up to their positions from back, the right three seats are filled, again closest to furthest:*
Idran1701 (8:19:39 PM): *Harrison Elmore, a human - fairly old, at least 60; utterly bald, but in surprisingly-good shape, and a sword at his belt even here.*
Brodzky Zero (8:20:06 PM): (what type of sword? Your generic longsword? Or something with flare :D)
Idran1701 (8:20:16 PM): (Generic longsword.)
SongstressEnlil (8:20:38 PM): (The Harmonium does not approve of flare.)
Brodzky Zero (8:20:39 PM): (Please describe using Oakeshott typology please)
Idran1701 (8:20:48 PM): (I have no idea what that word is, so no. >:)
SongstressEnlil (8:20:50 PM): (It gives people ideas)
Brodzky Zero (8:20:51 PM): ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakeshott_typology )
Idran1701 (8:21:02 PM): (I SAID NO NOW STOP INTERRUPTING MY INTRO :( )
Idran1701 (8:21:09 PM): ((I will look later))
Idran1701 (8:21:48 PM): *Shelia Valusek, a human - not quite middle-aged but getting there, shoulder-length blond, nearly white, hair, staring down at Karl appraisingly*
Idran1701 (8:22:09 PM): *And finally, floating in...*
Idran1701 (8:22:53 PM): *Thraxsiffalianat, a beholder - his hide painted the red of the Harmonium, and mounted with spikes resembling the dress plate of the faction, all eyes focused down on Karl*
Idran1701 (8:23:18 PM): (*clicks link!*)
SongstressEnlil (8:23:29 PM): (I do like the uniforming.)
Idran1701 (8:23:40 PM): (:D)
Brodzky Zero (8:23:53 PM): *Is observing these guys!*
Idran1701 (8:23:55 PM): (Zero: No. >: )
Brodzky Zero (8:24:08 PM): *Especially that hover-ball-thing with the crazy eyes.*
Idran1701 (8:24:17 PM): *And mouth!*
SongstressEnlil (8:24:37 PM): *Observing the lot as well, trying not to stare or anything.*
Idran1701 (8:25:00 PM): Chairman, please come forward and take your seat!
SongstressEnlil (8:25:01 PM): IM: If Sigil had not destroyed my ability to be surprised... Gods, I hope it's half sane.
Idran1701 (8:25:46 PM): *And the seventh member steps forward to the raised seat.*
Idran1701 (8:26:50 PM): *Gregor Themyn, human - also dressed in Harmonium dress plate, his hair almost matching his armor. A sword rests at his side near identical to Elmore's, and he watches Karl inscrutably, almost seeming to stare into his very soul.*
Idran1701 (8:27:32 PM): You may take your seats.
Brodzky Zero (8:27:58 PM): *Looks to Karl*
Idran1701 (8:30:00 PM): (Pervy?)
Brodzky Zero (8:30:33 PM): (He's skimming Laissez's Fair for a bitchin' response)
Brodzky Zero (8:31:10 PM): (Was it one of you or Erik that I told about the Ron Paul supporter who came into my work?)
(8:31:55 PM) SongstressEnlil has left the room.
(8:31:59 PM) SongstressEnlil has entered the room.
SongstressEnlil (8:32:10 PM): (Last seen was all amy take their seats)
SongstressEnlil (8:32:37 PM): IM: He's not using detection magic, is he? They would do that, I suppose.
SongstressEnlil (8:35:05 PM): *Has a seat, nods to First upon noticing the glance*
Brodzky Zero (8:35:24 PM): *Sits, placing the fire statue down in front of him.*
Idran1701 (8:36:18 PM): In the name of the Harmonium, I call the 23rd session of the 324th organization of the Subcouncil on Prime Affairs to order, and hearby form the Diplomatic Subcommittee on Prime Colonization and Expansion under the...
Idran1701 (8:36:24 PM): ... auspices of that Subcouncil.
Idran1701 (8:37:11 PM): *to Karl* Before we begin, do you swear your identity as Karl Hendrick of the land of Bremen on the world known as Legunda?
SongstressEnlil (8:37:26 PM): I do.
Idran1701 (8:38:02 PM): *nods* Then we shall begin. Before your questioning commences, you may make a brief statement on your behalf.
Idran1701 (8:38:40 PM): *most of the council watches Karl closely, though Resindirk seems to be an exception; he carries a general look of disinterest, only paying the barest of attention to Karl*
(8:44:26 PM) You have just entered room "onortho."
Idran1701 (8:44:28 PM): (Testing.)
Brodzky Zero (8:44:29 PM): (First: *leaps over a banister and dropkicks and elf*)
Brodzky Zero (8:44:32 PM): (Goddamnit.)
Idran1701 (8:44:34 PM): (Okay, sorry about that. :D)
Brodzky Zero (8:44:58 PM): (You missed the battle.)
SongstressEnlil (8:45:57 PM): *Nods* I would like to thank the subcommittee for considering this case. It is my intention to show that the Harmonium has been dealt with in bad faith by a man from Legunda, as he attempts to bring chaos to that world once again.
Idran1701 (8:46:53 PM): *Elmore visibly rolls his eyes at that, glaring at Karl; Resindirk's still uninterested; Bluebottle looks a bit interested*
(8:48:44 PM) You have just entered room "onortho."
Idran1701 (8:48:53 PM): (Gah.)
Idran1701 (8:48:59 PM): (Did my second line get through?)
SongstressEnlil (8:49:03 PM): (No)
Idran1701 (8:49:27 PM): *And Themyn just nods* Then we may as well start with that. Please describe what exactly you mean by bringing chaos to the world "again".
Brodzky Zero (8:50:37 PM): (Karl: I call to the stand: Scud East)
SongstressEnlil (8:50:58 PM): May I presume the subcommittee is aware of the general nature of the place that we of Legunda call The Distortion?
Idran1701 (8:51:23 PM): We are aware of it, yes.
SongstressEnlil (8:51:43 PM): Are you aware of it's origins, sir?
Idran1701 (8:52:35 PM): We are aware of claims as to its origins, but it would appear this is one of the points on which you challenge the information we were given.
SongstressEnlil (8:54:44 PM): *Nods* I will summarize it, then, so that any contradictions may be quickly found.
SongstressEnlil (8:56:46 PM): Before the birth of The Distortion, Trakain was an empire unlike any other upon Legunda. Its skill and achievements in magic were legendary, to say the least.
SongstressEnlil (8:57:55 PM): Whereas in other nations, magic was traditionally the relam f a few individual and typically reclusive practioners, Trakain had integrated it into the fabric of its society. To be a wizard was to be a favored citizen.
SongstressEnlil (8:59:16 PM): Those with the talent were expected to follow it, and use it for the benefit of the nation. And indeed, many great things were wrought. Then, virtually overnight five centuries ago, Trakain disappeared.
SongstressEnlil (9:00:25 PM): It was torn asunder by a force it had unleashed, tearing apart nearly half of the continent and reducing it into an unhabitable waste soaked in errant magic.
SongstressEnlil (9:01:15 PM): This event we call the Trakain Heresy, and it is marked by Tonbae, the deity of Legunda itself, forever falling silent as the Heresy struck him like a knife to the heart.
SongstressEnlil (9:02:50 PM): The aftermath of this event wracked civiliation as we knew it; the very artof magic was shunned in the time that followed; to look upon history too closely was regarded with a suspicion that lasts to this day.
Idran1701 (9:03:30 PM): *watching Karl suspiciously, Elmore speaks up* Now, Sir Hendrick, how large was this empire at the time of its fall?
SongstressEnlil (9:05:31 PM): It spanned much of the Distortion, sir. The frontier, as it were, was not densely populated, as nearly as we can tell. It maintained decent, if strained, relations, with other nations. In particular, it was an ally of Sidol.
SongstressEnlil (9:05:40 PM): Which fell in the aftermath of the Heresy.
Idran1701 (9:06:02 PM): Strained, yes, that's what I've heard. And what was its military strength compared to that of its neighbors?
SongstressEnlil (9:07:31 PM): Hard to say definitively. Much of the records of such were not able to survive, and we are forced to relay upon folklore. I am certain you can image the things that a frightened people in the aftermath of such chaos told.
Idran1701 (9:08:10 PM): *slightly condescending* But I'm sure you can make a guess, based on what you've said of its magical strength and breadth of territories, yes?
SongstressEnlil (9:08:22 PM): I can say, however, that its technology was not particularly advanced in comparision its neighbors, I have seen samples of it within The Distortion
SongstressEnlil (9:08:52 PM): Its magic, however, may well have been quite decisive, should it have been reliable.
Idran1701 (9:09:16 PM): *nods* And so I can imagine a number of these neighbors might have appreciated its fall. Even encouraged it, perhaps?
Idran1701 (9:09:32 PM): The very neighbors which even today fight against attempts at restoring it?
Idran1701 (9:10:12 PM): *Valusek watches with great interest at Karl's response following this question*
SongstressEnlil (9:11:27 PM): I would love to know how they orchestrated such. As nearly as we can understand, the Heresy's beginning was in one of its greater centers of magic, which would hardly be close to the borders or lightly defended.
SongstressEnlil (9:13:17 PM): While I doubt they can be called perfect, I can't imagine anything short of a miracle would allow for another nation to place an agent in something so vital to Trakain's society. Let alone cause something like the Heresy.
Idran1701 (9:13:52 PM): Then please, elaborate on the cause of the Heresy.
SongstressEnlil (9:15:35 PM): *Nods* This will be a little difficult. As I have said, the Heresy destroyed Trakain proper. And, it lead to quite a backlash against the Trakaini and their relics that existed outside the empire.
SongstressEnlil (9:16:01 PM): However, I have been able togather a little evidence that has shone some light upon what happened, exactly.
SongstressEnlil (9:16:10 PM): *to gather.
SongstressEnlil (9:16:56 PM): Are you familiar with the Bleak Abyss?
Idran1701 (9:17:19 PM): *Elmore mutters to Valusek, just barely audible:* Oh, this ought to be interesting.
Brodzky Zero (9:17:57 PM): *Observing, waiting.*
Idran1701 (9:18:02 PM): *and Thrax speaks up with an echoey tone* I am not, and I doubt my colleagues have any greater knowledge of things regarding the planes than I.
Idran1701 (9:18:17 PM): So please, enlighten us. *he grins toothily*
Idran1701 (9:18:21 PM): *she?*
Idran1701 (9:18:53 PM): *and Resindirk's still looking at his notes more than Karl*
SongstressEnlil (9:18:57 PM)
: IM: So how did you know it was within the planes, and not, say, a part of Legunda? How amusing.
SongstressEnlil (9:19:37 PM): The Bleak Abyss is a demiplane within the Ethereal Plane, and in general considered one of the more dangerous places there.
SongstressEnlil (9:20:36 PM): Its outer region is a rather mixed soup of the primary elements; which bears the danger of possible phasing into it while merged with, say, stone.
SongstressEnlil (9:21:58 PM): The Demiplane itself is composed of tunnels bearing a rather pleasant forest, most of them leading toward a central area; others I believe lead to balconies and gathering places.
SongstressEnlil (9:24:25 PM): The various tunnelscome together at the foot of a bridge leading over an abyss that the demiplane draws its name from. At the foot of this bridge are stylized sculptures of Drolen and Cranden, deities of time and travel in Legunda.
SongstressEnlil (9:25:35 PM): *Reaches into his pack as he speaks* They are labeled Time and Space respectively. Between them is a plaque, bearing writing in the language of Trakain.
SongstressEnlil (9:26:34 PM): *Produces the rubbing he had copied* This is a rubbing of it, taken from a library at <Mechanusburg>, which first directed me there, if proof interests the Subcommittee.
Idran1701 (9:27:06 PM): Bailiff, bring that rubbing up to the council floor?
SongstressEnlil (9:27:32 PM): IM: This is a trial. Ha! Well then.
Idran1701 (9:27:51 PM): *walking up behind Karl, she takes the rubbing and heads to a sidepath up to the floor*
Brodzky Zero (9:28:08 PM): *Watches this!*
Idran1701 (9:29:29 PM): *as the rubbing makes its way around the councilors, Themyn speaks* Please, continue.
Brodzky Zero (9:32:03 PM): (Test)
Idran1701 (9:32:22 PM): (sibilance)
Brodzky Zero (9:32:55 PM): (Hey Idran)
SongstressEnlil (9:32:58 PM): Beyond the plaque and statues is a bridge, leading over the Abyss. The plaque, if approached by one bearing a Trakaini ring of rank, changes its writing to reveal that the Empire once used that demiplane to travel (con)
Brodzky Zero (9:33:04 PM): (IM me your address again)
Idran1701 (9:33:09 PM): (Sure.)
SongstressEnlil (9:33:22 PM): near instanteously between the far corners of the empire.
Idran1701 (9:33:55 PM): And how does this relate to the cause of the Heresy?
SongstressEnlil (9:35:50 PM): The connection comes as one follows the bridge, and comes to what I can only describe as a mass of magical energy. It is...terrifying to behold.
SongstressEnlil (9:36:37 PM): Simply being near it brings the feeling that it something we are not equipped to properly comprehend, and that to try is to imbibe something that we were not meant to touch.
SongstressEnlil (9:37:09 PM): The basis of Trakaini magic uses that energy.
Idran1701 (9:37:24 PM): And so you believe this mass of energy to be the cause of the Heresy?
SongstressEnlil (9:37:57 PM): No. I believe it to be a remanent from the Heresy, the nature of what was done laid bare to all.
Idran1701 (9:38:09 PM): *nods*
Idran1701 (9:39:00 PM): *Bluebottle butts in, looking quite eager to speak* Sir Hendrick, what exactly would prevent this from hap-
Idran1701 (9:39:10 PM)
: Thangfod, we'll get to that later!
SongstressEnlil (9:39:27 PM): If I may continue?
Idran1701 (9:39:56 PM): *nods* Please. Councilman Bluebottle, Sir Hendrick still has the floor.
Idran1701 (9:40:14 PM): *sighs, glowering and sitting back*
SongstressEnlil (9:40:57 PM)
: *Reaches into the bag again* Long has it been understood in Legunda that Trakain touched something it should not have. However, what proof there may have been of this had been lost to time, the Heresy itself, and the aftermath.
SongstressEnlil (9:41:32 PM): *pulls out the copied spellbook* In this, we owe the Kazerian a debt, for his has furnished proof.
Idran1701 (9:43:18 PM): Oh, he has? And how did you obtain this proof?
SongstressEnlil (9:43:36 PM): This is a spellbook taken from one of his lieutenants. The spells within are of Trakaini nature. Everything I have studied of the history and magic of Trakain matches with its contents.
Idran1701 (9:44:36 PM): And I assume this also matches with the mass of energy you found within the Abyss?
Idran1701 (9:44:47 PM): Bleak Abyss, Shelia. Specificity is important here.
SongstressEnlil (9:46:01 PM): Yes. It takes something of a refined reading to see it, but the spells within draw upon a power that is not like the magic I have witnessed and researched elsewhere, in or out of Legunda...
SongstressEnlil (9:46:34 PM): ...Save for what little we have been able to recover from Trakain, and that which permeates The Distortion itself.
SongstressEnlil (9:46:54 PM): IM: I knew it. What are you playing at, eye tyrant?
Idran1701 (9:47:17 PM): We will want our own sages and arcanists to investigate this spellbook ourselves, Sir Hendrick, if this is not offensive to you.
SongstressEnlil (9:47:28 PM): This is fine.
SongstressEnlil (9:47:48 PM): But, under no circumstances, should they try those spells.
Idran1701 (9:48:14 PM): *after a long period of silence, Caldwell speaks up* I still don't see how this contradicts the account the Kazerian gave us of this "Heresy," as this rebel calls it.
Idran1701 (9:48:35 PM)
: Doesn't seem much to disprove it by my sight either, really.
SongstressEnlil (9:49:10 PM): IM: Dancing around the point, are you?
Idran1701 (9:49:59 PM): Seems this falls right in line with how he described it, in fact. Group of folks go in, cause a big disruption, all of a sudden they're sitting in power up until now.
Idran1701 (9:50:22 PM): All this does is explain what sort of disruption.
Brodzky Zero (9:50:31 PM): *Looks around.*
Idran1701 (9:50:39 PM): *at anything in particular?*
Brodzky Zero (9:51:12 PM): *Of course not.*
Idran1701 (9:51:14 PM): ...Sir Hendrick, we should probably describe to you the accounting as given to us by the Kazerian's representative.
Idran1701 (9:51:49 PM): *There's not much to see, really. How boring, just a bunch of talking and none of it about the Creator. :(*
Brodzky Zero (9:52:02 PM): (He'll get his revenge one day.)
SongstressEnlil (9:52:02 PM): I believe that would be greatly helpful, and perhaps answer a few key questions of history if the Kazerian is who he claims to be.
Idran1701 (9:52:42 PM): His claim was that the Heresy, or the Betrayal as he named it, was caused by a small group of individuals from the outside nations.
Idran1701 (9:53:19 PM): Discomforted by what they saw as oppression, they worked their way through the lands of Trakain, their goal being to overthrow the Empire in the name of a deity by the name of Nalapeo.
Idran1701 (9:53:59 PM): After months of trial, they eventually managed to infiltrate the capital and disrupt a key artifact of the Empire, bringing it down within a single night.
Idran1701 (9:54:04 PM): What is your response to this claim?
SongstressEnlil (9:54:51 PM): *Trying not to smirk.* Well. To be blunt, it strikes me as rather flimsy.
SongstressEnlil (9:56:23 PM): Nalapeo, as you likely know, is the deity of chaos. I find the idea of such a loosely organized and incohesive group orchestrating an international conspiracy against Trakain to be laughable, at best.
Idran1701 (9:56:33 PM): Hmph! Flimsy? No more than our very own history!
SongstressEnlil (9:56:53 PM): Especially to hold to it after months of trial, as you said, without the whole thing falling apart.
Idran1701 (9:56:59 PM): *looking to Elmore with a general appearance of exasperation, before turning back to Karl*
Idran1701 (9:57:22 PM): I believe you overestimate the number of people involved; the Kazerian's representative described it as a half-dozen at most.
SongstressEnlil (9:58:45 PM): Perhaps I do. But, especially, the idea that it had any sort of official backing, Nalapeo's faith is not one that many nations in Legunda look well upon; it's hardly tolerated in the more accepting nations, and many outlaw it.
Idran1701 (9:59:35 PM): *getting to his feet* The Harmonium was built up based on the acts of four people! A world already teetering on the edge of chaos like yours, I'm sure six could have pushed it over!
Idran1701 (9:59:42 PM): Councilman Elmore, sit down!
Idran1701 (10:00:28 PM): *Caldwell stops her glare at Karl, looking at Elmore with vague irritation herself*
SongstressEnlil (10:00:41 PM)
: Four people seeking order, Councilman Elmore, and enjoying the support of the world. I do not believe self-described worshippers of chaos frowned upon by the state can be considered the same thing.
Idran1701 (10:01:17 PM): I must say, Sir Hendrick does present a valid point.
SongstressEnlil (10:01:58 PM): However, even if that were the case, it does not change an essential point. That the Heresy is a thing born of Trakaini magic.
SongstressEnlil (10:02:42 PM): As I have said, what it draws upon is a thing that is simply not to be understoof with the senses.
SongstressEnlil (10:02:51 PM): *Understood.
SongstressEnlil (10:03:04 PM): And, in the end, was enough to destroy a god.
Idran1701 (10:03:07 PM): *Bluebottle nods* And it is on this point that I again move to withdraw all troops from Trakainispace and have it declared abandoned and foresworn by Ortho.
Idran1701 (10:03:33 PM)
: It is simply too risky for us to be involved in this sort of conflict. We've spent hundreds of thousands of gold worth of resources and hundreds of troops already...
SongstressEnlil (10:03:54 PM)
: IM: ...They would give up on it? This is better than I could have hoped!
Idran1701 (10:04:22 PM): *sighs* Councilman Bluebottle, you have brought this motion three times before and have had it stricken down three times before. Do you really wish to bring this a fourth time?
Idran1701 (10:04:59 PM): I do! These are resources that could be better spent at home. The western tribes alone could...
Idran1701 (10:05:18 PM)
: *pft* That's all you ever think about, Thang! Why are you even on the Prime Council?
Idran1701 (10:06:16 PM)
: ...*straightens, glaring at the dwarf* I am here because my people chose me to be here, just as they did you.
SongstressEnlil (10:06:17 PM)
: IM: Hmm. That one's been quiet until now. It is rather nice to see this tapistry show its fraying.
Idran1701 (10:06:45 PM): ...Is there a second for Councilman Bluebottle's motion?
Idran1701 (10:06:55 PM): *utter silence as the hobgoblin glares*
Idran1701 (10:07:07 PM): Then the motion is stricken.
Idran1701 (10:08:42 PM): Then if we can get back to these issues? Sir Hendrick, you've spoken much about the past. I would like to hear you speak on the present. You utterly dismiss claims of both your rebel and chaotic status, from the sound of it?
SongstressEnlil (10:08:50 PM): IM: We'll make it so soon enough, Councilman Bluebottle.
SongstressEnlil (10:10:01 PM): It is not possible to rebel, sir, when there is no authority to rebel against. Trakain did not hold the entire continent. Nor did it exist at all after the Heresy. As for chaotic, I do not believe so.
SongstressEnlil (10:10:30 PM): I would argue the Heresy frightened the rest of the world into organizing further for its own defense, at the very least.
SongstressEnlil (10:10:49 PM): IM: Though I cannot speak for Kenichiro's homeland.
Idran1701 (10:11:26 PM): And your position on the Kazerian and his forces with regard to these states?
Idran1701 (10:11:57 PM): Would you qualify him as a representative of Trakaini and thus involved in the act of war, or an independant actor and thus a rebelling force against the legal government?
SongstressEnlil (10:12:28 PM): I believe he wishes to subjugate them. I do not know why, beyond pure greed. I do know that he has made no real effort at diplomacy beyond, at most, demands to surrender.
SongstressEnlil (10:12:47 PM): Is he a legitimate representative of Trakain? That is an excellent question.
SongstressEnlil (10:13:24 PM): He bears the title of the ruler, and without a doubt, his magicss are of Trakaini nature.
SongstressEnlil (10:13:35 PM): At the same time, Trakain has been gone for five centuries.
SongstressEnlil (10:13:58 PM): I would love to know where he's been hiding, and why he waited until now to stake his claim, so to speak.
Idran1701 (10:15:11 PM): It would seem that there are a number of questions which simply cannot be answered without further inquiry. Thus, Chairman Themyn, I move for the halting of proceedings until the representative of the Kazerian can be summoned.
SongstressEnlil (10:15:12 PM): I have only met with him once, and it was not exactly a pleasant meeting. I cannot say if he is truly Trakaini, or merely a student of history like myself.
Idran1701 (10:15:20 PM): (SWITCH)
Idran1701 (10:15:39 PM): Is there a second for this motion?
Idran1701 (10:15:48 PM): I would second it.
Idran1701 (10:16:21 PM): Then we shall hold a vote. Those in favor of this motion, speak yes as your name is called. Those opposed, speak no.
Idran1701 (10:16:41 PM): Bluebottle? Hmph. Yes.
Idran1701 (10:17:03 PM)
: Resindirk? Abstain.
Idran1701 (10:17:25 PM)
: ...Caldwell? No.
Idran1701 (10:17:44 PM)
: Thraxsiffalianat? Yes.
SongstressEnlil (10:17:44 PM): IM: You're only here to hassle the hobgoblin, aren't you Resindirk?
Idran1701 (10:18:06 PM): Valusek? Yes.
Idran1701 (10:18:34 PM): Elmore? *glaring to Resindirk* ...No. For what good it does.
SongstressEnlil (10:19:18 PM): IM: Hahaha, still fighting the forces of history? Well, I gave you a chance to save your pride.
Idran1701 (10:19:43 PM): Then the motion passes. Proceedings shall be halted until the Kazerian's representative can be summoned before the Council.
Idran1701 (10:19:44 PM): Military actions will similarly be halted and a ceasefire declared until a final Council decision can be made.
Idran1701 (10:20:29 PM): Sir Hendrick, you and your security are free to return to Sigil, provided you return upon your own summons. You may remain on Ortho as well, if that is your wish.
SongstressEnlil (10:20:41 PM): *Permits himself a small grin* IM: At least it's a start. It should give the people back home time to get on their feet.
Idran1701 (10:20:56 PM): Based on past experience, I expect him to arrive within three days.
SongstressEnlil (10:21:27 PM): Thank you, Councilman. Will I be permitted to travel between the two freely, or will this be considered too much of a risk?
Idran1701 (10:22:08 PM): Not freely, but following the security procedures you've already passed through. Such matters are a necessity given various means of disguising ones identity as yourself.
SongstressEnlil (10:23:46 PM): *Nods* Understood. I believe I will remain on Ortho for a time, if I may, and investigate what I can about the Trakaini Empire from here. If they are who they claim to be, the knowledge you have gathered would be priceless.
Idran1701 (10:24:27 PM): *he nods* Then this convening of the Diplomatic Subcommittee is hearby called to recess indefinitely.
(10:24:42 PM) Idran1701 has left the room.
(10:25:16 PM) You have just entered room "onortho."
Brodzky Zero (10:25:30 PM): (WHAT)
Idran1701 (10:25:58 PM): (Haha, perfect timing.)
Idran1701 (10:26:01 PM): (Did my message get through?)
SongstressEnlil (10:26:10 PM): (No)
Idran1701 (10:26:33 PM): *he nods* Then this convening of the Diplomatic Subcommittee is hearby called to recess indefinitely.
Idran1701 (10:26:40 PM): *the various councilmembers stand; Elmore and Bluebottle grumble, both glaring at Karl, but Valusek actually gives him a small smirk; seems she's on his side, if no one else.*
SongstressEnlil (10:27:23 PM): *And the beholder?*
Idran1701 (10:27:48 PM): *He gives Karl some sort of look, but Karl has no real idea how to read beholder body language.*
Idran1701 (10:28:00 PM): *And he floats back and off just after.*
Idran1701 (10:28:21 PM): *the bailiff approaches, handing him the rubbing* Your property, sir.
SongstressEnlil (10:28:59 PM): *Takes it* Thank you.
SongstressEnlil (10:29:40 PM): IM: Elmore will try something, I'm sure of it.
Idran1701 (10:29:48 PM): *and coming off the floor and up to the platform* I must admit, Sir Hendrick, you were more convincing than I expected.
SongstressEnlil (10:29:57 PM): IM: The hobgoblin...perhaps-Ah!
Idran1701 (10:30:08 PM): But I've never been one too stubborn to admit when I'm wrong.
SongstressEnlil (10:30:41 PM): Thank you very much. I was barely prepared as it was, to tell the truth. You've heard the story of my circumstances?
Idran1701 (10:31:04 PM): I'm afraid I haven't, no.
Idran1701 (10:31:39 PM): But before that, I wouldn't mind being introduced to your friend.
SongstressEnlil (10:32:25 PM): Ah yes. This is First. He is, well, a bit of an enigma. Something of a Warrior Priest for a being he calls the creator.
Idran1701 (10:32:37 PM): ...Aha. How interesting.
Idran1701 (10:32:49 PM): Well...a pleasure to meet you, First. *she offers a hand*
Brodzky Zero (10:33:17 PM): (Goddamnit you bastards need to IM me when I need to be reading(
Idran1701 (10:33:30 PM): (HAHA)
Idran1701 (10:33:36 PM): (YOU ARE INVOLVED :D)
Brodzky Zero (10:33:47 PM): (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFuck you!)
Brodzky Zero (10:33:54 PM): *Offers a hand in kind.*
Brodzky Zero (10:33:57 PM): Hello.
Idran1701 (10:34:20 PM): And I assume you aren't of the same world as Sir Hendrick?
Brodzky Zero (10:34:32 PM): Sir Hendrick?
Idran1701 (10:36:44 PM): ...The...man you're protecting?
SongstressEnlil (10:36:56 PM): He knows me as Karl.
Idran1701 (10:37:05 PM): Ah.
Brodzky Zero (10:37:31 PM): <_< >_>
Idran1701 (10:38:49 PM): ...Yes, well...I assume he'll be staying with you here on Ortho, then? *to Karl*
Idran1701 (10:38:58 PM): For now, that is?
SongstressEnlil (10:39:00 PM): *Observes* IM: I don't think I've seen him in a real social situation before. Let's see if he's learned something
SongstressEnlil (10:39:30 PM): I would prefer it. But he is free to do as he pleases, our arrangement is not ironclad.
Idran1701 (10:39:49 PM): (First: ...*punches Valusek in the face and looks around*)
Idran1701 (10:40:07 PM): (Karl: IM: Well, maybe next time.)
Idran1701 (10:40:26 PM): *nods*
Brodzky Zero (10:40:32 PM): (First: *Turns the Beholder into a statue*)
Idran1701 (10:40:36 PM): ...And what is that odd torch you're holding?
Brodzky Zero (10:40:37 PM): (Beholder: It's a living!)
Idran1701 (10:40:45 PM): (Beholder: *turns First into a statue*)
Idran1701 (10:40:51 PM): (First: *can't say anything, he's a statue*)
Brodzky Zero (10:41:07 PM): It is a depiction of the glory of my Creator.
Brodzky Zero (10:41:22 PM): *Swivels it around so it is facing this person*
Idran1701 (10:41:49 PM): ...Interesting. And...what holds it in place, Sir First?
Brodzky Zero (10:42:04 PM): I am holding it.
Idran1701 (10:42:29 PM): ...I mean, what keeps the flame in this shape? Some sort of spell?
Brodzky Zero (10:42:55 PM): *Ponders.*
SongstressEnlil (10:44:47 PM): I suspect he was inspired by our trip to investigate the Bleak Abyss.
Brodzky Zero (10:44:55 PM): No.
Brodzky Zero (10:45:09 PM): It was the phoenix.
SongstressEnlil (10:45:35 PM): Ah. My apologies, I was recalling your interest in the border Ethereal.
Idran1701 (10:45:46 PM): And what is that?
SongstressEnlil (10:47:09 PM): It is what lies between the ethereal plane and the planes it touches, to my understanding. It's a rather colorful place; the border ethereal colors represent where they are connected to.
Idran1701 (10:47:54 PM): Oh, no, I meant what he just refered to. The phoenix?
Idran1701 (10:48:01 PM): Though it does sound like an intriguing sight.
Brodzky Zero (10:50:25 PM): *Swivels the fire statue back around.*
SongstressEnlil (10:50:51 PM): It is a sort of holy bird, we met it upon Elysium.
Idran1701 (10:51:15 PM): *nods* I assume that's another spot in the planes?
Idran1701 (10:51:46 PM): It sounds vaguely familiar, but it's been some time since I was briefed on them.
SongstressEnlil (10:52:12 PM): Intimately connected to the idea of the sacred flame, and quite wise and powerful. And yes, it is. Its known as the restful plane, I believe. A calm place were little happens to disturb the peace.
Idran1701 (10:52:42 PM): *she nods again*
Idran1701 (10:53:32 PM): ...Oh, yes, I almost forgot. I wanted to apologize on behalf of Harrison.
Idran1701 (10:53:53 PM): I hope you don't hold his outburst against our organization.
SongstressEnlil (10:54:39 PM): *Nods* I do not. Any study of history will show that an organization cannot be represented by the actions of one.
Idran1701 (10:54:55 PM): Quite true, that.
SongstressEnlil (10:55:08 PM): Does he typically cling so strongly to the history of the faction?
Idran1701 (10:55:53 PM): He typically clings strongly to everything. He's...stubborn in his beliefs. Once he decides something's true, he won't be easily convinced otherwise.
Idran1701 (10:56:40 PM): He was on the Military Council, my first appointment, and he hasn't changed a bit since then.
SongstressEnlil (10:57:08 PM): *Nods* I was a little shocked to hear him liken followers of Nalapeo to the founders of the Harmonium, but I suppose he isn't quite as knowledgible about them as I would hope.
Idran1701 (10:57:52 PM): I don't think he truly thought the metaphor through that far to begin with anyway. *small chuckle*
SongstressEnlil (10:59:10 PM): *Chuckles as well* IM: He'll definitely try something.
SongstressEnlil (10:59:30 PM): If I may, can you tell me much about the Kazerian's representative?
Brodzky Zero (11:00:57 PM): (Consider me afk for the next few minutes)
Idran1701 (11:02:09 PM): I can't say much about him. He's one of his lieutenants, I know, but I never met him outside the Council..
Idran1701 (11:02:19 PM): He was quite highly devoted to the Kazerian, though.
Idran1701 (11:02:42 PM): And persuasive, as well. When you showed up, I was about as deadset against you as Harrison.
Idran1701 (11:03:33 PM): I think he may have been an arcanist, but I can't speak for certain.
SongstressEnlil (11:05:05 PM): *Nods* I would be wary of him, the magic they employ is...unearthly.
Idran1701 (11:05:43 PM): *nods* I'll let Gregor know of your warning, then. He'll speak with building security about it.
Idran1701 (11:06:00 PM): Though with Thrax around, it shouldn't be an issue. Not during the Council sessions, at least.
SongstressEnlil (11:06:45 PM): I noticed that Thrax seems to know much more than he lets on.
Idran1701 (11:07:17 PM): Hmm? Oh, he always does that. It's a common trait among beholders, I've noticed.
Idran1701 (11:07:30 PM): Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, but the posturing doesn't impress me anymore.
SongstressEnlil (11:09:30 PM): *Nods* He was certainly more knowledgible than he let on. He correctly identified the Bleak Abyss as a planar feature, rather than one of Legunda, and distnguished it from the Abyss; which is an easy mistake to make.
Idran1701 (11:10:32 PM): Ah...I must take credit for misspeaking on that last note. We all know the Abyss, it and Arcadia are the two planes drilled into the minds of all Harmonium during training.
Idran1701 (11:10:43 PM): Though for much different reasons, of course.
SongstressEnlil (11:10:55 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (11:11:04 PM): But as for the Bleak Abyss...*shrugs* Perhaps he does know of it.
Idran1701 (11:11:30 PM): Does that change anything for you, though?
SongstressEnlil (11:12:22 PM): It did make me a bit wary at first; given the situation. But in the end, no harm was really done.
Idran1701 (11:12:32 PM): *nods*
Idran1701 (11:13:10 PM): Is there anything else you wanted to know while I'm here?
Brodzky Zero (11:14:24 PM): (I AM BACK...for now)
SongstressEnlil (11:15:53 PM): I would like access to what information you have gathered about Trakain and Legunda in general, in the interest of my profession. But, I understand if this is not possible.
Brodzky Zero (11:16:06 PM): <_<
Idran1701 (11:16:11 PM): I'm sure it can be arranged, none of that should be classified.
Brodzky Zero (11:16:13 PM): >_>
Idran1701 (11:17:18 PM): I'll try to speak with Gail before the next Council session. I doubt I'll have much luck convincing her, but of those still against you, she's likely the most convertable.
SongstressEnlil (11:19:11 PM): *Nods* I wonder, councilman Bluebottle seems deadset against the war in general. I presume it's not the sake of Legunda?
Idran1701 (11:20:15 PM): *shakes her head* He thinks we've been wasting resources on expansion, and ever since he heard about the Distortion, he's been using it as an excuse to push for an Abandonment and Forswearance Order.
SongstressEnlil (11:20:51 PM): I presume that means Legunda would never be spoken of again, officially?
Idran1701 (11:21:36 PM): More so, all travel to Trakainispace would be cut off entirely and all currently-assigned forces pulled out.
SongstressEnlil (11:22:01 PM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (11:22:13 PM): IM: I'll certainly have to play up on the horrors, then.
Idran1701 (11:22:38 PM): (Karl understands that it's all travel to Trakainispace, right?)
Idran1701 (11:22:40 PM): (Including his?)
Idran1701 (11:23:57 PM): (My fault that that didn't come across if so.)
SongstressEnlil (11:24:16 PM): (He does, but he's pretty sure he can find another way there.)
Idran1701 (11:24:22 PM): (Aha. *nod*)
Idran1701 (11:24:49 PM): It's two-fold; the Western Tribes are one of the larger sources for extra-Orthan troops, and he wants the resources spent on expansion diverted to improve local services.
SongstressEnlil (11:24:54 PM): (But not having to deal with Harmonium Conquistidores afterwards would be a nice bonus, in his mind)
Idran1701 (11:25:18 PM): I can't exactly fault him for it, myself. He's got the idealism of a rookie councilman for his homeland.
SongstressEnlil (11:26:49 PM): *Nods* I cannot fault him for not wanting to expand too quickly, if naught else.
Idran1701 (11:27:58 PM): *chuckles* He's handling it as best he can, I'd say, even if I disagree with his position. This is one of the largest extra-Orthan movements we've done in years, and it happened right in the middle of his first term.
SongstressEnlil (11:28:18 PM): IM: Hmmm. I see.
Brodzky Zero (11:28:35 PM): *Swivels the statue around again.*
Idran1701 (11:28:47 PM): *it is now staring right at First!*
Idran1701 (11:28:57 PM): *what a well-made representation of the Creator it is*
Brodzky Zero (11:28:58 PM): (No he swiveled it back earlier.)
Brodzky Zero (11:29:05 PM): (So now it's not looking at him. Karl maybe.)
SongstressEnlil (11:29:13 PM): It is impressive, fielding an army so far away, and in a place such as the Distortion.
Idran1701 (11:29:20 PM): (I assumed the degree of swivel was entirely arbitrary with each time. I am corrected!)
SongstressEnlil (11:29:43 PM): (But it will not kisses from Annah and Fall-from-Grace)
Idran1701 (11:30:12 PM): Indeed it is. *smirks*
Idran1701 (11:30:34 PM): Well, if there is nothing further, I must be off. I hope you enjoy your time on our world, Sir Hendrick.
SongstressEnlil (11:31:13 PM): I believe I will. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity.
Idran1701 (11:31:25 PM): *she nods, and departs!*
Brodzky Zero (11:32:45 PM): Who was that?
SongstressEnlil (11:33:19 PM): One of the people whom will be deciding whether or not we can stop the war.
Idran1701 (11:33:59 PM): (And anything more, or are we good to stop? :O)
SongstressEnlil (11:34:31 PM): (Nothing on my part. Zero?)
Brodzky Zero (11:34:33 PM): (Can First break boards and bricks to impress the council members?)
Brodzky Zero (11:34:42 PM): (With his fists and feets)
Idran1701 (11:34:48 PM): (There are no boards or bricks on Ortho >: )
Idran1701 (11:34:54 PM): (EVERYTHING IS MADE OF SOD)
Brodzky Zero (11:34:59 PM): (Just like Oregon!(
Idran1701 (11:35:05 PM): (Yes!)
Idran1701 (11:35:14 PM): (*hits you over the head with a sodhammer*)
Idran1701 (11:36:50 PM): (Anyway! 600 base XP, 400 bonus for Karl for the Council debating, 100 concilatory XP for First for him just standing around and doing nothing this last half and a good deal of the first.)
Brodzky Zero (11:37:26 PM): (Do I get bonus XP for having packages ready to send tomorrow?)
Idran1701 (11:37:34 PM): (Sure have 5)
