Idran1701 (8:15:03 PM): Hey, Shaun. :D
CGNakibe (8:15:09 PM): Sup Justin?
Idran1701 (8:15:17 PM): Not much. You? How'd your test go?
CGNakibe (8:15:42 PM): Meh. Went alright. Essay questions I blanked out on, but that still means I did good on the multiple choice (80% of the test)
Idran1701 (8:15:52 PM): *nod*
Idran1701 (8:16:15 PM): That's rough when that happens, but glad you didn't do too badly despite it.
Idran1701 (8:18:28 PM): Anyway, then, think you're up to more Planescape stuff? :D
CGNakibe (8:18:38 PM): I think so.
Idran1701 (8:18:41 PM): *nod*
Idran1701 (8:18:49 PM): Which faction's next, Harmonium or Ciphers?
CGNakibe (8:19:04 PM): Ciphers. Harmonium seems best saved for last.
Idran1701 (8:19:20 PM): *nod* Give me a bit, need to set up and write a post first.
Idran1701 (8:36:54 PM): Okay, I'm good. :O
Idran1701 (8:37:29 PM): You?
CGNakibe (8:37:57 PM): I'm alright.
Idran1701 (8:39:22 PM): *nod* We can get started whenever you want, then.
CGNakibe (8:40:15 PM): Lets get going, then!
Idran1701 (8:40:25 PM): (Well then!)
Idran1701 (8:46:35 PM): *Leaving the Hall of Speakers after an enlightening period watching the means of government, Arian heads through the streets of Sigil, finding his
way to the Guildhall Ward after a few missteps and a request for directions. Here, he sees a structure perhaps not so impressive as the last two, but with a quiet glory all its
own. People surround the building, heading in an out, though not nearly so much of a crowd as at the City Court. The banner of the Ciphers stretches over the entryway,
flapping in the slight breeze.*
Idran1701 (8:46:45 PM): ( http://www.mysidia.org/Planescape/GreatGymnasium.png )
CGNakibe (8:49:34 PM): IM: Not quite as impresssive as the last, but certainly a little imposing.
CGNakibe (8:51:46 PM): *what do the people that are going in and out look like?*
Idran1701 (8:55:23 PM): *He can't tell until getting a little closer, passing by a number of reflecting pools and walking up the path to the great stairway...it looks like all races,
but few that look especially lower class. A few have faction colors, but not all. Some that look more the adventuring type. And they all appear to be at the least in
adequate shape.*
CGNakibe (8:57:09 PM): *heads up the steps, and pays attention to those around..*
Idran1701 (8:57:30 PM): (Question! Does he have his swallow with him?)
CGNakibe (8:58:28 PM): (Hm. *flips coin* "Definitely yes.")
Idran1701 (8:58:59 PM): (They put magic 8-balls on coins now? :D)
CGNakibe (8:59:08 PM): (I wish.)
Idran1701 (9:00:22 PM): (Also, made a mistake, cut what I said about the staircase. That picture I showed you is just inside the walls, it's visible from outside except the
bottom 10 feet or so, which is blocked by the wall around the grounds.)
Idran1701 (9:01:30 PM): *Arian approaches the outer gate, stepping through the doors. A guard in faction colors stands watch, stepping up to him as he passes through.*
CGNakibe (9:02:12 PM): Eh? Something that you need from me, sir?
Idran1701 (9:02:52 PM): *nods* No weapons on the premises, I'm afraid. You'll have to check that and any others while you're here.
CGNakibe (9:04:00 PM): Ah. That's fine, then, I suppose. Where would I go to reclaim it on my way out?
Idran1701 (9:04:48 PM): *he takes the sword from Arian* Just ask on your way out. Nothing else? No daggers, knives, clubs, or anything else that might be
concealed?
CGNakibe (9:06:26 PM): No no, nothing of that sort.
Idran1701 (9:07:35 PM): *nods* No spellcasting allowed inside outside one of the training rooms either.
Idran1701 (9:08:18 PM): *he scribbles something down on a clipboard, looking to him* Name?
CGNakibe (9:08:36 PM): Arian Renfield.
Idran1701 (9:09:18 PM): *nods* All right. Just give your name when you come back, you'll get your sword back when you leave.
CGNakibe (9:09:18 PM): Anything else you might need?
Idran1701 (9:10:49 PM): *shakes his head* That'll be it.
CGNakibe (9:11:13 PM): Alright then. *heads inside, he does.*
Idran1701 (9:12:48 PM): *Inside!*
Idran1701 (9:17:51 PM): *Heading past the gate, he finds a wide expanse, with three large rectangular pools, one of which with steam rising from it, making up
the large part of the clear opening. Ahead is the grand staircase mentioned before, and doors into various labeled rooms line the "western" and "eastern"
walls, as well as on the "northern" wall on either side of the staircase. Some of the inhabitants spend their time doing various sorts of exercises between
the pools and stairs, while others lounge in the wide pools of water. Not just basic humanoids, but celestials, fiends, and even a few elemental-looking
folks.*
CGNakibe (9:19:30 PM): IM: ... another testament to how STRANGE this place is. How often would one EVER see a fiend of that sort in the same place as such an exalted
presence...
Idran1701 (9:23:50 PM): *There's plenty of folks here, though he does seem to be a little...overdressed compared to most.*
Idran1701 (9:24:30 PM): *He does spot a changing room to the "west", though, right in the corner.*
CGNakibe (9:26:09 PM): Hm. Perhaps this would be a good idea... *heads towards the changing room...
Idran1701 (9:35:52 PM): *he heads to the changing room!*
Idran1701 (9:41:16 PM): *Inside are a number of robes, as well as a few folded sets of light, airy workout clothes and sashes. A bit less...modest than he might
normally be used to, and looks like the best he can count on is foot wraps if anything, but they're still covering enough. Thankfully, the entire grounds are
marbeled here; no risk of slicing his feet up, at least.
There's a number of locked chambers as well, flush against the wall. A few hang open, keys sitting in the locks, ready to keep his own clothing safe.*
Idran1701 (9:41:22 PM): (Sorry for the delays, talking to other folks.)
CGNakibe (9:42:35 PM): *Stuffs his clothing into one of the lockers, taking a key along with him, and puts on the modest uniform and foot wraps.* IM: A strange choice of
clothing, but I suppose it works well enough.
Idran1701 (9:43:14 PM): (Immodest. :D)
CGNakibe (9:43:34 PM): (Heh)
Idran1701 (9:43:35 PM): (Think a gi and whatever you call the loose pants.)
CGNakibe (9:44:02 PM): (Gi and Hakama, I think it was.)
Idran1701 (9:44:06 PM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (9:45:31 PM): *Leaving the changing rooms, he steps out...he's not as cold as he might have feared, the steam from the westernmost pool makes for
some nice heating, even in the open air grounds here.*
Idran1701 (9:47:14 PM): *What's his next step?*
CGNakibe (9:50:55 PM): *walking back outside, he looks around for anything that draws him towards any certain group. Barring that, perhaps an obvious meeting spot.*
Idran1701 (9:54:18 PM): *...Hmm...he finds himself drawn towards a fairly tough-looking woman practicing on her own near the edge of the exercise grounds.
Something about her style reminds him of Lilium...she seems experienced enough.*
CGNakibe (9:57:52 PM): *he settles in to watch for a minute or two, perhaps if only to satisfy his curiosity*
Idran1701 (10:01:24 PM): *She glances at him, but doesn't break her step, going through the motions of battle with a faux-long sword. A slim human, she's
surprisingly tall, just a few inches under Arian's height. Her hair,s cropped short, though not so short as Lil's; shoulder-length or so, and she looks to be
maybe a year or two Arian's senior at most.
She continues her practice for a few minutes, before looking to Arian* What's your weapon?
CGNakibe (10:03:41 PM): Dual-bladed sword. Its always interesting to watch others use their own weapons, though.
Idran1701 (10:04:38 PM): *she heads over to a nearby rack, setting her weapon down, and tossing Arian a staff, padded at both ends*
Idran1701 (10:04:50 PM): (Think like the staffs from American Gladiators, only not so much.)
CGNakibe (10:06:23 PM): *catches it, and checks its balance and weight as he stands up.*
Idran1701 (10:06:55 PM): *It's well balanced, not too much of an adjustment. Lighter than his sword, but it'll do.*
Train or spar?
CGNakibe (10:07:44 PM): Either is fine, though somehow I get the feeling that I'd be overmatched in sparring. Ah, well. *shakes out a little*
CGNakibe (10:07:54 PM): Nothing to be gained in avoiding such.
Idran1701 (10:08:42 PM): *with a slight frown at that reply, she grabs a similar staff, stepping forward towards Arian* Sparring it is. You ready?
CGNakibe (10:09:10 PM): Certainly.
Idran1701 (10:10:10 PM): *Before Arian can get the word out, he has a staff swinging for his head!*
Idran1701 (10:10:11 PM): (d20)
CGNakibe (10:10:44 PM): ( 2 >:{ )
Idran1701 (10:11:29 PM): *Bam! Oh, his head's ringing a little.*
CGNakibe (10:12:35 PM): *winces at the heavy blow... and tries a feint left, then a thrust at her left side...*
Idran1701 (10:14:21 PM): (d20)
CGNakibe (10:14:32 PM): (15)
Idran1701 (10:15:23 PM): *He feints, and he thinks he's got her off guard...but she deflects the strike at the last minute, swinging her weapon back around in a
sweep at his legs*
Idran1701 (10:15:55 PM): (Oh, for your reference; this area is padded, it's not solid marble in this part of the grounds.)
Idran1701 (10:16:05 PM): (Possibly luckily for Arian? :D)
CGNakibe (10:16:27 PM): (Concrete and marble hurt. *nod nod*)
Idran1701 (10:17:20 PM): (d20, by the way.)
CGNakibe (10:17:54 PM): (14)
Idran1701 (10:18:29 PM): (And another!)
CGNakibe (10:18:40 PM): (19)
Idran1701 (10:19:36 PM): *His feet are knocked out from under him...he tries to keep his balance, but he can't make it, falling over onto his back. His
opponent squats next to him, looking him over.* You all right?
CGNakibe (10:20:19 PM): *checks himself over...* I'm alright. All but my pride. *sighs* I need more practice than I've been getting.
Idran1701 (10:20:53 PM): Seems like it. Haven't seen you here before.
CGNakibe (10:21:20 PM): Name's Arian, and this actually is my first time here, so its not too surprising.
Idran1701 (10:21:50 PM): Heh. I suppose not. *she offers a hand, helping him to his feet*
CGNakibe (10:22:32 PM): *gets back to his feet with the appreciated help* Thanks. Actually I've been meeting the factions in hopes of finding one that suits me.
Idran1701 (10:23:47 PM): And you thought you'd see if this one did?
CGNakibe (10:26:38 PM): Certainly. It has some appeal so far, even with these new bruises. *chuckles*
Idran1701 (10:27:10 PM): Take a steam before you leave, it'll help.
Idran1701 (10:27:39 PM): Long as you don't mind the lack of privacy, that is.
Idran1701 (10:29:20 PM): *she readies her weapon again, staring into Arian's eyes* Go again?
CGNakibe (10:29:52 PM): Lets.
Idran1701 (10:30:15 PM): *And another swing!* (d20)
CGNakibe (10:30:33 PM): (10)
Idran1701 (10:31:19 PM): *he just barely manages to block this time, deflecting the staff away from his side*
CGNakibe (10:31:52 PM): (Which reminds me. He has Rogue THAC0, doesn't he? o.o *isn't looking*)
Idran1701 (10:32:07 PM): (He does, but I'm not going by attack rolls here. :D)
Idran1701 (10:32:17 PM): (Comparing your d20 to hers, just going by that.)
Idran1701 (10:32:24 PM): (And relative skill.)
CGNakibe (10:32:27 PM): (I know, I know. Its just odd thinking of him as a mage and then thinking of him as being decent in melee. >:P)
Idran1701 (10:32:31 PM): (Heh.)
Idran1701 (10:32:59 PM): (He's up, by the way. Unless he's letting her get another shot in.)
CGNakibe (10:33:30 PM): *he spins his staff to the side, sliding OVER hers as he spins forwards...*
CGNakibe (10:33:37 PM): (17)
Idran1701 (10:35:52 PM): *His staff comes around, pegging her in the side as she slips a little. She looks to have the barest hint of a smile as she brings her
weapon around in kind, making for his midsection.*
CGNakibe (10:36:12 PM): (15)
Idran1701 (10:37:29 PM): *seems his last hit put her offbalance, as he easily sees through her feint, blocking a sudden leg shot and getting his own around to
the side of her head; she shakes it off as best she can, but she's a little open...*
Idran1701 (10:37:34 PM): (Free shot, Arian's still up.)
CGNakibe (10:38:42 PM): *he swings around, going for a shot to the midsection while he still has one...*
Idran1701 (10:39:05 PM): (Roll. :O)
CGNakibe (10:39:14 PM): (19)
Idran1701 (10:40:03 PM): *He hits, knocking the wind out of her and sending her to the ground. She quickly rolls on her side, catching her breath, the corners
of her mouth rising just a bit more.* Nice show.
CGNakibe (10:40:31 PM): *holds out a hand to help her up* Thank you.
Idran1701 (10:41:40 PM): *She's helped up!*
That's what happens when you don't worry about overthinking things. Most folks know what to do. Let your body and mind work together. Don't worry
about thought, let your instinct guide you.
Idran1701 (10:42:04 PM): Still interested in joining?
CGNakibe (10:43:28 PM): Yes, I am.
Idran1701 (10:43:41 PM): Then you're in.
CGNakibe (10:45:51 PM): That's it? Huh.
CGNakibe (10:46:20 PM): (OOC Arian: I thought I'd have to run laps around the place or something. >:{{{ Or, you know, haul in a horse cart with my bare hands.)
Idran1701 (10:46:22 PM): Tests are for the other factions.
Idran1701 (10:46:34 PM): If you feel like this is the right place, it must be for you.
Idran1701 (10:46:48 PM): And if it isn't, you'll find out eventually.
CGNakibe (10:47:13 PM): Makes sense.
Idran1701 (10:50:38 PM): You want to stay in, just remember one thing. Don't think, do. Or don't, if that's what your instincts say. If it feels like you should
do it, you probably should; the multiverse won't guide you wrong if you listen.
CGNakibe (10:53:46 PM): Just follow your instincts. Hm.
Idran1701 (10:55:29 PM): *nods* Feel the Cadence of the Planes flow through you. Let it guide you. When a basher steps out of line with the rhythm of the
multiverse, that's when bad things happen.
Idran1701 (10:59:18 PM): Not just in combat, but in all things.
You a creative type?
CGNakibe (10:59:49 PM): Yeah, on occasion. I draw... or paint. Whichever mood strikes me.
Idran1701 (11:01:21 PM): *nods* You ever been in a state where you were so focused on your art that everything else just fell away, and you knew everything
you were doing was exactly how it should be?
Your goal should be to hold that state. As you get better, fall into it as you wish. Eventually, stay in it always.
Idran1701 (11:03:55 PM): Rooms here to paint, by the way. Over on the portico. *she gestures over to one of the doors to the left of the tall stairway*
Been there once or twise myself. Can be relaxing.
Idran1701 (11:04:33 PM): *twice
CGNakibe (11:04:43 PM): I'd imagine it is. It looks like a great place to paint, in fact.
Idran1701 (11:05:20 PM): *she steps back a little* So, what're you feeling now?
CGNakibe (11:06:41 PM): Right about now, I'm feeling the urge to cool down, maybe train a little before I go.
Idran1701 (11:08:12 PM): *nods* Swimming's good for that.
*pointing the pools out from west to east* Hot, Warm, Cold. Sashes make a servable swim wrap.
CGNakibe (11:12:29 PM): Sounds like an excellent idea to me.
Idran1701 (11:13:14 PM): *nods* You free tonight for dinner?
Idran1701 (11:21:08 PM): (That catch you offguard? :D)
CGNakibe (11:21:59 PM): (Which? The aggravating minor disconnect? Or the pool party? >;P)
Idran1701 (11:22:08 PM): (Oh, what was last seen?)
CGNakibe (11:22:11 PM): IM: Hopefully the thing won't try to drown me when I swim... damn thing.
Idran1701 (11:22:23 PM): (You must have missed the IM, I didn't see a disconnect on my side.
Idran1701 (11:22:25 PM): *)
CGNakibe (11:22:30 PM): ([01:08] Idran1701: *nods* Swimming's good for that.
*pointing the pools out from west to east* Hot, Warm, Cold. Sashes make a servable swim wrap.)
Idran1701 (11:22:41 PM): *nods* You free tonight for dinner?
CGNakibe (11:23:37 PM): Eh? Err... Um... no, I do already have plans.. *suddenly his lack of proper footwear is of vital interest to his eyes*
CGNakibe (11:24:30 PM): IM: "Don't seduce any angels", she says... And what if they try to seduce ME, huh?
CGNakibe (11:24:33 PM): (>:P)
Idran1701 (11:24:42 PM): (She's human, you know. :P)
Idran1701 (11:24:56 PM): Can't break them?
CGNakibe (11:25:02 PM): (Oh, I'm well aware)
Idran1701 (11:25:08 PM): (Also, it's hilarous he thinks of that as seduction. :D)
CGNakibe (11:25:10 PM): Sorry, I can't.
CGNakibe (11:25:27 PM): (Hey, I like hilarity, don't you? >:D)
CGNakibe (11:26:02 PM): Perhaps some other time, though?
Idran1701 (11:27:35 PM): We'll see.
Before you head out, come see me if you want to show your colors, I'll get you a sash or a patch with our emblem. I'll be up on the second floor.
Idran1701 (11:28:07 PM): Shame, though. Like you said, maybe some other time.
CGNakibe (11:33:17 PM): IM: Whew....
CGNakibe (11:33:28 PM): (You know. I don't know who is having more fun here.)
CGNakibe (11:33:40 PM): (Me for finding out more stuff about Arian by proxy)
CGNakibe (11:33:49 PM): (Or you for getting to screw with his head at every turn. >:P)
Idran1701 (11:33:53 PM): (:D)
Idran1701 (11:34:10 PM): (So, is he going to tell Karin he didn't say no? :D)
CGNakibe (11:34:46 PM): (Daaangerous waters, my friend. But I'd say he would)
CGNakibe (11:35:19 PM): (Emphasizing, of course, that he didn't say yes either. >;P )
Idran1701 (11:38:45 PM): (But he didn't say no. Why didn't he say no? >:)
Idran1701 (11:38:51 PM): (Did he feel like he shouldn't say no? >:)
CGNakibe signed off at 11:39:29 PM.
CGNakibe signed on at 11:40:05 PM.
Idran1701 (11:42:32 PM):
CGNakibe (11:34:46 PM): (Daaangerous waters, my friend. But I'd say he would)
CGNakibe (11:35:19 PM): (Emphasizing, of course, that he didn't say yes either. >;P )
Idran1701 (11:38:45 PM): (But he didn't say no. Why didn't he say no? >:)
Idran1701 (11:38:51 PM): (Did he feel like he shouldn't say no? >:)
CGNakibe (11:43:02 PM): (Shush, you. And maybe he should have said no, but he didn't, because it amuses me to TORMENT HIM, BWAHAHAHAH)
Idran1701 (11:43:06 PM): (Heh.)
Idran1701 (11:43:58 PM): (Honestly, she'd be more amused than hurt, since she trusts him, and she knows how embarassed that sort of thing makes him.
But she'd tell him it's not fair to lead someone on like that, and next time he sees her, he should explain about Karin.)
Idran1701 (11:44:18 PM): (But anyway, that's in the future!)
Idran1701 (11:44:43 PM): *she heads off past him, giving his shoulder a squeeze as she heads for the staircase*
CGNakibe (11:45:56 PM): *And Arian heads for the pools, hoping to cool down before heading off.*
Idran1701 (11:46:23 PM): (Needing to cool down even more after that, I imagine. :D)
CGNakibe (11:48:03 PM): (No doubt.)
Idran1701 (11:48:34 PM): (Is he stopping for the patch/sash afterwards, or is he still intending to check the Harmonium?)
CGNakibe (11:49:01 PM): (Harmonium first!)
Idran1701 (11:49:44 PM): (*nod* You planning to make a late night of it tonight, or wanting to cut? :D)
Idran1701 (11:49:59 PM): (You're almost free for a while, after all. :D)
CGNakibe (11:50:21 PM): (Considering it, actually.)
Idran1701 (11:50:55 PM): (*nod* Let me know what you decide.)
CGNakibe (11:58:24 PM): (Lets gogogo!)
Idran1701 (11:58:28 PM): (!)
CGNakibe (11:58:52 PM): (Also: Due to Doug's talk, I have noticed that our party is very... nonstandard in Shannel)
Idran1701 (11:59:03 PM): (Can I assume he's not stopping to bathe before he leaves? :P)
Idran1701 (11:59:05 PM): (And: Oh?)
CGNakibe (11:59:21 PM): (A crazy loyal Lawful fighter type who does HUGE damage at times and almost loves fighting.)
CGNakibe (11:59:27 PM): (And yeah, he's stopping for that bath)
CGNakibe (12:00:00 AM): (A pirate rat that is, for all intents and purposes, a crazy ex-con that's learning magic while he cracks heads.)
CGNakibe (12:00:21 AM): (A low-born boy from the Black Forest who is apparently busy trying to make himself a king of some sort. >:P)
CGNakibe (12:00:59 AM): (And we have the heroic stoat who doesn't approve of any of the killing we've been unfortunately forced to do.)
Idran1701 (12:01:06 AM): (Heh.)
Idran1701 (12:01:55 AM): (Also: I was kidding a little about that, since they don't have private baths (though they have men's/women's, at least), and I would
prefer Arian's head not explode.)
CGNakibe (12:02:33 AM): (But how else are we going to prove that his brains do indeed have wrinkles in them? >:{ )
Idran1701 (12:02:48 AM): (Heh.)
CGNakibe (12:02:52 AM): (As it stands its too much like Schrodinger's cat.)
Idran1701 (12:03:22 AM): (So, bathing and never speaking of it to anyone. Got it. :D)
CGNakibe (12:03:42 AM): (Huh? Speak of what? Sudden memory blank! :O!)
Idran1701 (12:05:22 AM): *Arian finishes his swim, cleaning himself up and toweling off in the changing room before heading out. Having had some nice
mind-clearing exercise, it's on to his final choice, back to the Lady's Ward...and in fact only a few blocks from the City Court...
...maybe he should have gone here second.*
CGNakibe (12:09:31 AM): IM: Bah. I knew I should've made these plans well in advance. *sighs* Ah, well. Not much to be done for it now.
Idran1701 (12:10:06 AM): *But anyway, he's here now. A massive building, perfectly square. Not especially tall, about 50-60 feet, but wide, covering an entire
block merely on its own. A dull grey, tipped by multitudes of spikes that almost make it appear better suited in the Hive, it's hardly aesthetically pleasing,
in any sense. But it certainly looks servicable enough.*
Idran1701 (12:11:09 AM): ( http://www.mysidia.org/Planescape/Barracks.png )
Idran1701 (12:15:46 AM): *Harmonium officers fill the streets around the Barracks, with fewer civilians than around any other headquarters he's seen yet.
The few businesses around here seem similarly geared, looking to be fairly focused mostly on providing for the guardsmen of the city. Taverns, inns,
restaurants, tailors, and even a small gallery nearby.*
CGNakibe (12:16:13 AM): IM: This makes sense, considering what little I O know of them, I suppose.
CGNakibe (12:16:54 AM): IM: It certainly seems well provided for, as these things go.
CGNakibe (12:17:24 AM): *and with that thought in mind, Arian heads towards what he believes is the main entrance...*
Idran1701 (12:17:41 AM): *...not just the main entrance, but the only entrance, so far as he can tell*
Idran1701 (12:18:18 AM): *Four Harmonium officials stand watch around the large gates, capped by an arch in the shape of two clasping hands held in a single
huge fist*
Idran1701 (12:19:00 AM): *They eye Arian as he approaches, sizing him up, but not speaking until he reaches the door*
State your business.
CGNakibe (12:19:27 AM): I'm here to find out about recruitment.
Idran1701 (12:20:13 AM): *he nods* Step inside. Speak to the clerk in reception.
CGNakibe (12:22:01 AM): Thank you. *and Arian moves swiftly inside, as it seems like a good idea about now.*
Idran1701 (12:23:10 AM): *He steps inside, into the small reception room. There's a few chairs scattered about, and a single clerk sitting at the far end,
making eye contact as soon as Arian enters.*
Idran1701 (12:23:31 AM): May I help you?
CGNakibe (12:24:06 AM): Ah, yes. I'm here to inquire about recruitment.
Idran1701 (12:26:15 AM): Aha. Well, there's a social for potential recruits in one week. Until then, I'm afraid you'll have to make do with this. *with a small
smile, he hands Arian a pair of pamphlets: "Bring the Harmony of Law to the Planes" and "Join the Harmonium and Fight the Corruption of Chaos"*
CGNakibe (12:26:57 AM): Alright then. Thank you.
CGNakibe (12:27:18 AM): IM: Well, that was fast. Very fast indeed.
Idran1701 (12:27:27 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (12:29:06 AM): (He would probably fairly quickly find out it's not for him, unless I don't know Arian very well at all. Before even becoming a member,
according to the pamphlets, he'd have to go through eight weeks of training on Buxenus, second layer of Arcadia. It's a paramilitary group, after all.)
CGNakibe (12:29:21 AM): (Hahahano. >:P)
Idran1701 (12:30:41 AM): (I actually forgot how quick things were for the Harmonium, honestly, until I refreshed myself on them just now. :D)
Idran1701 (12:30:58 AM): (It'd basically be boot camp.)
CGNakibe (12:31:29 AM): (Makes perfect sense, though.)
CGNakibe (12:31:42 AM): (Military groups like this can't really afford the time it takes for a detailed tour.)
CGNakibe (12:31:51 AM): (They'd be more interested in something more practical. Mini-Boot
Camp)
Idran1701 (12:32:21 AM): (More the security issue than the time, but yeah.)
Idran1701 (12:33:29 AM): (Plus, they don't have to worry about new recruits.
If he did sign on, Arian would be "one of the tens of thousands of
planars to realize the true power of Law, and come into our
Family: The Harmonium".)
CGNakibe (12:33:44 AM): (Heh.)
CGNakibe (12:33:54 AM): (Well, part of the boot camp process is
weeding out the unfit.)
Idran1701 (12:34:03 AM): (Indeed. :D)
Idran1701 (12:34:11 AM): (Think Arian would make it if he actually
went through with it? :D)
CGNakibe (12:34:42 AM): (Make it? Not really likely. Not with HIS
stats. Although he's stubborn enough that its POSSIBLE he'd make it.)
CGNakibe (12:34:58 AM): (There's always something to be said about
sheer bull-headedness.)
Idran1701 (12:35:06 AM): (Heh. Especially for the HArdheads. :D)
CGNakibe (12:35:24 AM): (But about 2 days in he'd have a flash of "Hey,
you know what? I'm already awesome by my own standard." And just
quit.)
Idran1701 (12:36:11 AM): (Ha.)
Idran1701 (12:37:10 AM): (Well, then! He's gone through all his
options. :O)
Idran1701 (12:37:21 AM): (You have an idea which he's going with?)
Idran1701 (12:37:56 AM): (And how long it'd take him to decide?)
CGNakibe (12:38:44 AM): (Hmm. Guvners and Signers are the
front-runners by far.)
Idran1701 (12:38:57 AM): (*nod* No interest in the Ciphers?)
CGNakibe (12:39:23 AM): (They're a nice group right off, but something
about the way they operate isn't quite his thing. Best appreciated from
afar, perhaps.
CGNakibe (12:40:10 AM): (Even money on Guvners and Signers, almost.
I'm thinking Sign would work best for him about now.)
CGNakibe (12:40:28 AM): (It strikes a chord in old Arian, but as he is the
positive thinking aspect isn't a bad thing at all.)
Idran1701 (12:43:07 AM): (*nod*
And the entrance test?)
CGNakibe (12:45:07 AM): (I guess something will have to be worked up. Either that or he'll have to get lucky. >:P)
Idran1701 (12:47:02 AM): (Well, it doesn't have to be a prediction through divination. A prediction through observation
works too. So, first option: can you give me something along those lines that would be verifiable by the Signers?)
CGNakibe (12:50:46 AM): (Hmmm. With his background and inclination, it'd be most likely that he'd predict some manner of foul
weather. And that only through association through animals.
CGNakibe (12:51:08 AM): (Since horses and any similar animal would notice sudden changes long before any people did)
Idran1701 (1:00:58 AM): (True, but Sigil doesn't exactly have weather.)
Idran1701 (1:01:06 AM): (Also, sorry, had to take care of something really quick.)
Idran1701 (1:01:51 AM): (Give me a d20.)
Idran1701 (1:04:11 AM): (YOU TOOK TOO LONG SO I ROLLED FOR YOU)
Idran1701 (1:04:32 AM): (But it passed. :D
Though you can roll yourself anyway once you get back if you'd like...)
CGNakibe (1:11:02 AM): (Oh, sorry sorry.)
CGNakibe (1:11:12 AM): (And eh. *rolls*)
CGNakibe (1:11:22 AM): (How does 15 do?)
Idran1701 (1:11:48 AM): (Hmm.)
Idran1701 (1:11:53 AM): (HMMM.)
Idran1701 (1:11:59 AM): (HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMokay)
Idran1701 (1:16:51 AM): (Whoops, sorry again.)
Idran1701 (1:18:17 AM): (Anyway...though he doesn't see anything weather-wise...in watching the various animals pass
through the streets, he does get the oddest feeling.
There's going to be a sickness. Not for people, but for horses. Minor health issues, but enough to cause some big
problems in the city for a week.)
Idran1701 (1:18:35 AM): (He can't put his finger on how he knows this...there's just something about watching them that
tells him that.)
CGNakibe (1:19:05 AM): (Interesting)
CGNakibe (1:19:17 AM): (Also: Playing Culdcept. Magic: The Gathering + Monopoly)
CGNakibe (1:19:31 AM): (Needless to say, I am turning my opponent into a quivering pile of debt. >:D)
Idran1701 (1:20:11 AM): (Heh.)
CGNakibe (1:21:25 AM): (But basically, to "own" land, you must place a creature on it to take taxes up.)
CGNakibe (1:22:17 AM): (Which costs money. You can also place a creature on land you don't own, in hopes of not paying the
taxes someone wants for being on a land space.)
CGNakibe (1:22:30 AM): (In that case, your creatures "fight". The winner keeps the land.)
CGNakibe (1:22:52 AM): (If the attacking creature can't kill the defending creature, the defender "wins" by default.)
Idran1701 (1:25:13 AM): (*nod*)
CGNakibe (1:28:37 AM): (Finally, "Land Level" adds Toughness/Defense to creatures of the land's color.)
Idran1701 (1:28:54 AM): (Haha.)
CGNakibe (1:29:13 AM): (If you place a Wind-element (yellow) creature on Yellow land, then they gain an HP bonus that goes
up as you improve the land.)
Idran1701 (1:29:14 AM): (I just realized you literally meant MtG+Monopoly. I thought that was the high-concept
description of it.)
CGNakibe (1:29:20 AM): (Nope. Literally.)
Idran1701 (1:29:30 AM): (Isn't Wind Blue?)
CGNakibe (1:29:38 AM): (In M:tG, not here.)
CGNakibe (1:30:07 AM): (Four elements in Culdcept. Air is Yellow, Earth is Green, Fire is Red, and Water is Blue)
CGNakibe (1:30:14 AM): (There's also non-element.)
CGNakibe (1:30:32 AM): (Non-elemental creatures can't benefit from ANY land type, so you know.)
CGNakibe (1:31:27 AM): (Games end either A: When a person has gathered the required amount of money to "pass" or B: When
a certain number of turns has elapsed.)
CGNakibe (1:31:52 AM): (Once you have the goal amount, you have to get back to the Go-space equivalent, labeled with a
castle)
CGNakibe (1:33:09 AM): (There's a myriad of extra rules and interesting options, not all of which come from the Magic elements.)
CGNakibe (1:33:53 AM): (Such as the Go space rewarding you not with a set amount of money, but with cash based on the value
of your acquired lands.)
Idran1701 (1:43:01 AM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (1:45:20 AM): (Oh, anyway: Don't worry about tomorrow's session, I'm still planning to do a sidequest or a pair
of sidequests for that. I doubt Arian would catch up with Karl in time for stuff.)
Idran1701 (1:48:18 AM): (For Arian, more faction stuff, possibly.)
CGNakibe (1:48:36 AM): (*nods* Ah, well. Getting a bit sleepy over here, I am.)
Idran1701 (1:48:40 AM): (*nod*)
CGNakibe (1:48:44 AM): (I think its almost time for me to turn in.)
Idran1701 (1:48:49 AM): (Turn in to what?)
Idran1701 (1:49:05 AM): (A BAT?!)
CGNakibe (1:49:05 AM): (A werewolf, what else?)
Idran1701 (1:49:11 AM): (Oh, good, you're not a vampire.)
CGNakibe (1:49:34 AM): (Bleh. Too depressing.)
Idran1701 (1:50:44 AM): (Spike wasn't depressing. :D)
CGNakibe (1:50:48 AM): (Buncha whiners. >:{{{ )
CGNakibe (1:51:11 AM): (Waah Waah. Look at me. I have no soul. LIfe is horrible. Lets eat some humans! :D!)
Idran1701 (1:51:21 AM): (Spike had a soul. :D)
CGNakibe (1:51:37 AM): (No, he had a microchip. THEN he had a soul.)
Idran1701 (1:51:43 AM): (CLOSE ENOUGH)
CGNakibe (1:51:51 AM): (YES EXCEPT NO.)
Idran1701 (1:51:52 AM): (Also haha we both know Buffy.)
CGNakibe (1:52:41 AM): (Ah, well. Night. Sleep well!)
Idran1701 (1:52:45 AM): (Night!)
CGNakibe signed off at 1:52:53 AM.
