Idran1701 (8:54:24 PM): Hey! Where've you been all day?
CGNakibe signed off at 8:54:33 PM.
CGNakibe signed on at 8:56:20 PM.
Idran1701 (8:56:26 PM): Hahaha. :D
Idran1701 (8:56:34 PM): Idran1701 (8:54:24 PM): Hey! Where've you
been all day?
CGNakibe signed off at 8:54:33 PM.
CGNakibe (8:56:37 PM): *gnaws on your face* >:{
CGNakibe (8:57:00 PM): Been out and haunting a mall. Got a little bored
with sitting at home. >::P
Idran1701 (8:57:08 PM): Heh.
Idran1701 (8:57:13 PM): Anything come out of it?
CGNakibe (8:57:38 PM): Got a new book I'll probably have finished
reading by this time tomorrow, assuming I start on it within the next 12
hours.
Idran1701 (8:57:47 PM): *nod* What book?
CGNakibe (8:57:51 PM): I swear, my reading speed is getting faster.
CGNakibe (8:58:10 PM): Ed Greenwood's "Dark Lord"
Idran1701 (8:58:15 PM): FR?
CGNakibe (8:58:26 PM): Something completely unconnected.
CGNakibe (8:58:40 PM): Apparently about an author who ends up trapped
in a world of his own creation.
CGNakibe (8:58:48 PM): Except there's something about it that's...
corrupting it.
CGNakibe (8:58:53 PM): Changing it from what he created originally.
Idran1701 (8:58:54 PM): I thought you said it wasn't about Elminster. :P
CGNakibe (8:59:00 PM): Hah.
Idran1701 (9:00:00 PM): Anyway, sounds cool.
Idran1701 (9:00:43 PM): I might have to check into it myself.
Idran1701 (9:03:20 PM): Anything else of note happen?
Idran1701 (9:18:41 PM): Anyway, think you'll be on long enough to make it
worth it for some Arian stuff? :O
CGNakibe (9:19:21 PM): Definitely.
Idran1701 (9:19:34 PM): *nod* Awesome.
Idran1701 (9:20:06 PM): Give me a second to get stuff settled first and we
can get to that.
Idran1701 (9:22:25 PM): While I do stuff I'll send you the last bit of last
time.
Idran1701 (9:22:56 PM):
CGNakibe (5:40:33 PM): Hmm. *wanders the hall, looking at any of the
rooms are open*
Idran1701 (5:43:26 PM): *he wanders about, seeing...for one, a surprising
lack of guards; despite his dress, no one's given him a second look at his
wandering about the building unescorted*
Idran1701 (5:45:21 PM): *But more relevant, he doesn't see much that's all
that helpful. None of the rooms, each being smaller ovals themselves,
even have doors, merely short hallways into them. Some look to be
dwelling places (occupied or not), some are nothing but empty rooms with
a single pedestal in the center, others are simply storage.*
CGNakibe (5:45:23 PM): IM: That's curious. Are they not worried about
anyone odd wandering the building? Or what?
Idran1701 (5:55:18 PM): *As he heads down the hallway, the number of
non-members begins dropping; more and more of the folks he sees are
wearing the faction colors. They smile at him as he passes them, or offer
friendly nods, but he still doesn't see anywhere that stands out as a
recruitment office.
Soon, he finds himself on the other end of the building; a foyer similar in
design to the one he entered into, but much less crowded, and fairly quiet
at that.*
Idran1701 (9:31:06 PM): (All right, I'm good.)
Idran1701 (9:32:13 PM): (You?)
CGNakibe (9:32:34 PM): (My connection has mild hatred, but I'm alright.)
Idran1701 (9:32:58 PM): (Well, you're up.)
CGNakibe (9:35:00 PM): IM: Hm. That's odd. I THINK I'm in the right
place, or something...
CGNakibe (9:39:13 PM): *anyone here seem to be waiting for anything, or
not busy?*
Idran1701 (9:39:25 PM): *A good number of them!*
Idran1701 (9:40:10 PM): *A good number aren't busy, that is*
CGNakibe (9:40:59 PM): *he therefore turns to the nearest non-busy
person and asks the burning question* Er, excuse me. I was wondering if
this was the right place to inquire about joining this faction?
Idran1701 (9:43:27 PM): *he looks Arian over* ...Well, you're close, at
least. Recruitment? Come on, let's have a chat.
CGNakibe (9:43:54 PM): I was hoping as much. Thanks.
Idran1701 (9:45:31 PM): *He nods, smiling. He doesn't look too much
older than Arian, though he does appear to have a touch of elven blood in
him.* Travis. Come on, I'm sure there's an empty office around here.
Idran1701 (9:45:50 PM): *and he heads back down the curved hallway just
in front of Arian*
CGNakibe (9:46:33 PM): Arian. Pleased to meet you.
Idran1701 (9:46:59 PM): Likewise.
Idran1701 (9:48:30 PM): *Inside, Arian finds himself in an oval-shaped
room, about 20 feet across and 10 feet wide. There's no desk, but a few
cushions scattered across the floor. He takes a seat on one, and gestures
Arian to do the same.*
Idran1701 (9:51:55 PM): (:O?)
CGNakibe (9:52:23 PM): Ah. Thank you. *sits* Must say that this isn't
QUITE what I was expecting, but that's good.
Idran1701 (9:53:35 PM): *chuckles* Well, it'll do for this.
Idran1701 (9:54:05 PM): So, wanting to be a Signer, then? Think you're the
center of it all?
CGNakibe (9:56:04 PM): Perhaps. *chuckles* Things HAVE been
revolving around me a lot of late...
CGNakibe (9:56:08 PM): IM: ... Hmm.
Idran1701 (9:56:21 PM): *girns* I know the feeling.
Idran1701 (9:57:44 PM): So many people don't realize the power of
thought. Out here, it's ridiculous how many people neglect the strength of
ones beliefs. For a Prime like you, it's a rare sort that realizes how strong
the mind can be. *smirks*
CGNakibe (9:59:58 PM): My dad always taught me that the only thing
holding me back from doing what I wanted was myself. He felt that he
owed his position to doing what he believed in.
Idran1701 (10:00:27 PM): *nod* The power of positive thinking. Or
negative.
Idran1701 (10:00:40 PM): If you think you'll fail, you probably will. And if
you think you'll succeed...
Idran1701 (10:01:42 PM): It's good to know you've got the first lesson in
mind already. Saves me a speech. *chuckles*
Idran1701 (10:02:59 PM): But let's take it a step further, eh?
Idran1701 (10:03:21 PM): Have you ever pictured something in your mind
that was so vivid, you could have sworn it was real?
And did you ever find out later it was?
CGNakibe (10:04:47 PM): That's happened to me once or twice, yes. I
found it strange, but why question good fortune?
Idran1701 (10:05:12 PM): Ah, but was it fortune? Or was it your mind
taking what you pictured and making it real?
Idran1701 (10:06:52 PM): Like I said. If you think you'll fail, then you
probably will.
And if you think some other berk'll fail...
CGNakibe (10:07:10 PM): Heh.
Idran1701 (10:08:08 PM): Let's look at you. *he leans back, appraising
Arian*
...You just had a major change, right?
CGNakibe (10:08:19 PM): That's a mild way of putting it.
Idran1701 (10:09:51 PM): *grins, thinking as he stares over Arian, head to
toe*
...Some people might say it was a downgrade, putting yourself out there
like one of the lower class. But you're happy with it.
CGNakibe (10:10:36 PM): Caught that, did you? Well.... I suppose it would
be frowned upon where I came from but... This...
CGNakibe (10:10:49 PM): Is really what I want. What I've always wanted,
more or less.
Idran1701 (10:11:18 PM): You always wanted it, and so you've achieved it.
Interesting how things fall, isn't it?
CGNakibe (10:11:43 PM): Indeed.
Idran1701 (10:12:00 PM): It'd be frowned upon back home. So you
decided to come out here where it was possible...?
Idran1701 (10:12:39 PM): Packed up, left home behind to come make a life
for yourself on the Planes?
CGNakibe (10:12:41 PM): Decided? Not... exactly.
Idran1701 (10:12:52 PM): *grins* ...Are you sure of that?
CGNakibe (10:13:14 PM): When you put it that way, perhaps not. Hm.
Idran1701 (10:13:33 PM): How much of what you've gotten out here could
you have had back home?
CGNakibe (10:14:07 PM): Almost none of it, of that I'm certain. So... so
yeah. I would have to come here, wouldn't I? Here or someplace like it.
And I doubt that there IS anyplace else like Sigil.
Idran1701 (10:14:33 PM): *nods* Now, who's to say you didn't arrange
things for yourself without even realizing it?
Idran1701 (10:15:13 PM): Some of us would say you shifted things around
in reality, to bring about what you wanted.
Idran1701 (10:15:25 PM): Some of us would say you had this planned out
from birth, without even being aware of it.
CGNakibe (10:15:50 PM): A most interesting line of thought indeed.
Idran1701 (10:15:54 PM): A few of our lot might claim you were the one imagining the multiverse, putting things together as you see fit.
Idran1701 (10:16:11 PM): But then again, maybe I'm the one imagining it. How else'd I know about you, after all?
CGNakibe (10:17:28 PM): Perhaps it could be both, though. Each influencing the others. Some wanting what they want more than others, and thus achieving.
Idran1701 (10:17:56 PM): Perhaps. But if one of us is imagining the multiverse, then we're just imaging the other too, now aren't we?
CGNakibe (10:18:46 PM): That's true. But how would I even know if, say, you were the one doing the imagining anyway? I doubt I'd be able to tell.
Idran1701 (10:19:30 PM): *chuckles, patting his shoulder* That's the dark of it, isn't it?
Come on, let's give you a bit of a tour. One thing to see the building, it's another to see what it's all about, eh?
CGNakibe (10:22:13 PM): Indeed. Always possible to have a well-appointed building, regardless of what is inside.
Idran1701 (10:22:33 PM): Quite so. *he stands, offering Arian a hand up if he needs it*
CGNakibe (10:23:22 PM): *stands, minorly regretting giving up his comfy seat, but hey, information*
Idran1701 (10:24:55 PM): *and they head out, walking along the hallway*
Well, we might as well start at the top. *points out an archway leading to another room, a hallway heading off from it* Through there, if you twist around a bit, you'll find Darius the Veyl. Our
factol, and a wiser woman I'm not yet had the courtesy of meeting.
CGNakibe (10:27:04 PM): *nods* Sometime soon, perhaps.
Idran1701 (10:27:27 PM): *I've not
Idran1701 (10:27:43 PM): *and onwards*
Idran1701 (10:28:31 PM): *after a bit further down* Here we find the Chamber of Concord.
Let me ask you, Arian, why do you think we're tasked with holding and moderating the council sessions?
Idran1701 (10:36:23 PM): (Shaun?)
Idran1701 (10:42:27 PM): (>:!)
CGNakibe (10:42:36 PM): (Sorry about that.)
Idran1701 (10:42:45 PM): (YOU MADE ME SCOWL :( )
CGNakibe (10:42:57 PM): (I'm sorry ;_; )
Idran1701 (10:43:02 PM): (Okay. :D)
Idran1701 (10:43:50 PM): (Anyway, your line.)
CGNakibe (10:45:38 PM): Hmm. If I had to guess, then.... perhaps... hmmm....
CGNakibe (10:46:40 PM): Maybe it has something to do with resolving the conflicting personalities. The people that intend to force their will upon the universe. *shrugs*
CGNakibe (10:47:27 PM): Just a guess. It doesn't feel quite right, though.
Idran1701 (10:47:43 PM): *chuckles* You're awfully close. Think of it this way; we're a faction of people, most of whom believe themselves the center of the multiverse. And yet, we still hold
together as a faction.
Idran1701 (10:48:00 PM): Compared to that, keeping order among the other factions is child's play. *grins*
CGNakibe (10:48:44 PM): *nods* Now that makes PERFECT sense to me.
Idran1701 (10:50:06 PM): And the Chamber of Concord id where we make order amongst each other. It's this room where our various views of the multiverse are brought into line with one
another, and keep us from splitting our separate ways.
Idran1701 (10:50:12 PM): *is
Idran1701 (10:51:40 PM): *they continue on, into the second foyer, and Travis takes Arian into the hallway leading towards the center of the Hall*
*w* If you could keep your voice down in here...
CGNakibe (10:52:20 PM): *w* Hm? I assume there is a meeting of some sort going on?
Idran1701 (10:52:33 PM): *w* ...Not exactly.
Idran1701 (10:55:21 PM): *They head into the second room...it's curved, like all rooms so far in the Hall. But it's obviously built for some other purpose. The ceiling is carved with pilasters, almost
organice in appearance, supporting a cornice somewhat reminiscent of stalactites, only arranged in a neat line. From above this feature, a bright magical light shines down, focused by the curved
ceiling onto the object in the center of the room - a massive urn, by all appearances carved from a single pearl. And what a massive pearl it must have been.
Ringing the urn are Signers sitting silent watch, focusing on the urn, and looking somewhat exhausted.*
CGNakibe (10:56:28 PM): *eyebrows raise at this indeed. This is impressive by ANY standard, he thinks*
Idran1701 (10:56:34 PM): (A half-dozen if it's relevant.)
Idran1701 (10:58:20 PM): *w* This is the tomb of our founder, Rilith. Her body rests here, and our faction always watches over her, to ensure she remains within history.
CGNakibe (10:58:28 PM): *nods*
Idran1701 (10:58:57 PM): *w* If we were to fail, she may never have existed. And who can say what that would do to us?
CGNakibe (11:00:04 PM): .... *w* Ah. Best not to risk it, in that case.
Idran1701 (11:00:43 PM): *he nods silently, and presses on to the other side of the room, guiding Arian through a hallway into the center of the Hall of Speakers*
Idran1701 (11:04:20 PM): *And beyond the tomb lies...an astounding sight. A vast garden, of course located within an egg-shaped room. A hundred feet across, and perhaps twice that to the far
wall. No...garden isn't enough for this, it's an indoor park. Shrubs and trees, grass and trails. A few folks relax here, under the light (it must be faux-sunlight, you're in Sigil and there's 9 stories
above this room besides; it looks and feels so real, though), others stroll along the paths, and some appear to be merely passing through, taking a shortcut from one side of the building to the
other.*
CGNakibe (11:05:12 PM): Wonderful... o.o
Idran1701 (11:05:19 PM): It is, isn't it? *grins*
Idran1701 (11:06:20 PM): Enjoy the outdoors, do you? I see you just got back from a trip to the Wilds not too long ago as it is.
Idran1701 (11:07:29 PM): This might not technically be, but then again, it all depends on how you define things. What's the difference between inside and outside anyway?
CGNakibe (11:09:17 PM): Whether or not you feel like getting wet, I suppose. *chuckles* But this is... beautiful.
Idran1701 (11:09:44 PM): Oh, you don't think this could be kept like it is without a little rain now and again, do you? *chuckles*
CGNakibe (11:11:30 PM): Well, of course there has to be a little rain in here sometime. o.o
Idran1701 (11:11:42 PM): With how crowded the city is beyond the walls of this room, this may as well be the out of doors for Sigil. They're interchangable.
Just like us. What's in there *points towards Arian's brain* isn't any different than what's out here. *gestures to the room around them*
Idran1701 (11:11:48 PM): It all depends on how you look at things.
CGNakibe (11:12:19 PM): (Are you sure that the source of thought isn't the spleen? >:{{{ )
Idran1701 (11:12:43 PM): (Have you talked to him?)
Idran1701 (11:13:01 PM): ((That was mean of me. :( ))
CGNakibe (11:13:11 PM): (Hey, he's got.. things... on his mind. I'm sure!)
CGNakibe (11:13:18 PM): (... just not sure what most of them are. >:{{{)
Idran1701 (11:15:14 PM): So, how are you looking at things right now?
CGNakibe (11:18:23 PM): Hmm. Perhaps a little like I'm a hungry man. But that can wait for a little while.
Idran1701 (11:18:57 PM): *chuckles, giving his shoulder another pat* Well, I would invite you to the feast hall, but that's one room that's strictly members only.
CGNakibe (11:19:57 PM): *chuckles* It would happen that way. Ah, well. I'd already made other plans for that.
Idran1701 (11:20:31 PM): *nods*
Now, if you are still interested, it's simple. We only have a single test, though it may be difficult, depending on your state of mind.
CGNakibe (11:21:34 PM): Just one test, hm? Interesting.
CGNakibe (11:21:45 PM): (Honestly didn't think the Signers would be THIS good a fit for him. XD)
Idran1701 (11:21:53 PM): (:D)
Idran1701 (11:22:22 PM): (It's easy to be persuasive when you're talking to a figment of your imagination.)
CGNakibe (11:22:46 PM): (Or maybe its what Arian wants and HE'S the figment.)
CGNakibe (11:23:05 PM): (But this faction seemed more Old-Arian than Current.)
Idran1701 (11:23:56 PM): *he nods* You see, we all live in a multiverse we craft for ourselves, in one way or another. Some are closer to this fact for others. But this means that somewhere deep
in all of us is knowledge of what's to come.
All you need to do is prove it to us. Make a single prediction of what's to come that proves itself true, and you'll be able to clame yourself a namer of the Sign of One.
Idran1701 (11:24:06 PM): *claim
CGNakibe (11:25:09 PM): Heh. Perhaps not the best time about now: The easiest thing I could predict to be true is something I'm intent to work on personally.
Idran1701 (11:26:00 PM): *smirks* Well, you wouldn't be the first one.
But you needn't worry about it now. Anyone in Sigil's free to report their visions to us any time they wish. We track them all.
Idran1701 (11:26:10 PM): And you've got other factions to check out too.
CGNakibe (11:26:17 PM): *nods* Alright. And yes... yes, that's true.
CGNakibe (11:26:37 PM): IM: How DOES he continue to do that? Fascinating.
Idran1701 (11:26:50 PM): (I was wondering if you were catching on. :D)
CGNakibe (11:30:13 PM): (Arian doesn't know about mind-reading at all. >;P)
CGNakibe (11:30:33 PM): (And the first bit WAS easy to pass off as "Well, I must still act a little Noble")
Idran1701 (11:30:34 PM): (Oh, it's nothing that easy.)
Idran1701 (11:30:41 PM): (Second bit. :D)
CGNakibe (11:30:44 PM): (Point.)
Idran1701 (11:30:56 PM): (Forgot to mention he was from the Prime, didn't he?)
CGNakibe (11:31:07 PM): (Hee. Its the little things.)
Idran1701 (11:33:44 PM): *clasps his shoulder, smiling* I suppose you'll find out soon enough where you'll end up. I wouldn't mind seeing you around here again, but I'm sure wherever it is, you'll
make a fine member.
And keep in mind, this room here is open to the public. Not many Cagers care about green, but I can tell it strikes a chord with you.
CGNakibe (11:37:12 PM): There's something about it that has always been appealing to me, odd as that may be.
Idran1701 (11:38:02 PM): *nods* Well, I hope this has been enlightening for you, if nothing else.
CGNakibe (11:39:55 PM): Oh, it most certainly has.
Idran1701 (11:40:09 PM): Can you find your way out?
CGNakibe (11:40:50 PM): I think so, thanks.
Idran1701 (11:41:14 PM): *he nods, smiling* A pleasure spending this time with you, Arian.
CGNakibe (11:42:17 PM): Thank you for your time, Travis. And your insight as well.
Idran1701 (11:42:28 PM): *he nods, and heads off*
Idran1701 (11:42:39 PM): (Anything more Arian's doing here, or on to number 3? :O)
CGNakibe (11:43:50 PM): (I don't think there's much more to be done here, no. Maybe sit in on a random meeting, but I doubt that'd go over well with the looks he got as he was coming in.)
Idran1701 (11:44:50 PM): (Heh. Well, the Council meetings are open to the public, but that'd be maybe a little more interesting than C-SPAN, if only because of the more chaotic factions.)
Idran1701 (11:45:01 PM): (The Signer meetings wouldn't be, though, no.)
Idran1701 (11:45:31 PM): (Might be interesting for Arian, coming from a monarchial/feudal society and all, though. Up to you.)
Idran1701 (11:46:14 PM): (I don't know if he'd even be aware of the concept of a vote, even one among a ministry or congress.)
CGNakibe (11:47:08 PM): (Vote? What's that? o.o Sounds ABSURD. >;P )
CGNakibe (11:47:48 PM): (Although he'd have a vague interest in the politics, I'm sure that I'm not up for that myself. Nor would it be fun for you to RP the whole senate debate bit.)
Idran1701 (11:48:07 PM): (Oh, no, I'm not going to RP that. Ha. :D)
Idran1701 (11:48:12 PM): (No, I meant off-screen.)
Idran1701 (11:48:48 PM): (It might also give him a better idea of faction dynamics too, and possibly let him note the faces of some of the faction high-ups too. The factols themselves only rarely
attend, but the representatives are always among the highest ranked members.)
CGNakibe (11:51:42 PM): (Yeah, he'd definitely want to watch this, in all honesty. Its always useful to at least know what the dynamic between factions is doing at the moment.)
Idran1701 (11:52:53 PM): (*nod* All right. We can handle that as him having a general idea about situations if it comes up.)
Idran1701 (11:54:54 PM): (Is that going to be a regular thing, or no?)
CGNakibe (11:56:06 PM): (Now that he knows about it, he might make it a regular thing, yeah.)
Idran1701 (11:56:14 PM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (11:57:01 PM): (Well, want to press on ahead to #3, or hold up for the night? It's getting pretty late over there, dunno how long you're planning to be on for.
Idran1701 (11:57:03 PM): *)
CGNakibe (11:59:02 PM): (Bleh. Might have to cut this a tad short again. Got an exam tomorrow afternoon.)
Idran1701 (11:59:13 PM): (Ah. What class?)
CGNakibe (11:59:35 PM): (Sociology class: Marriage and Family, if memory serves.)
Idran1701 (12:00:02 AM): (Aha. Neat.)
Idran1701 (12:00:04 AM): (How's that going?)
CGNakibe (12:03:22 AM): (Going alright, I think.)
Idran1701 (12:03:40 AM): (*nod* Glad to hear it. Got a presentation myself tomorrow, then I'm done for the term.)
Idran1701 (12:03:51 AM): (Heading home on Friday for a month-long Winter break. :D)
CGNakibe (12:07:53 AM): (Awesome.)
CGNakibe (12:08:05 AM): (I won't be done till next Tuesday. But this is the only exam I have for this week.)
Idran1701 (12:08:13 AM): (*nod*)
CGNakibe (12:08:25 AM): (So. Anytime you catch me on between now and Monday I've probably got time. >:P)
Idran1701 (12:09:04 AM): (Heh. :D)
Idran1701 (12:12:02 AM): (Anyway, going to head off to get some sleep myself. Night!)
CGNakibe (12:12:12 AM): (Sleeep. @.@)
CGNakibe (12:12:14 AM): (Night.)
Idran1701 (12:12:18 AM): (And good luck!)
