Idran1701 (11:27:12 AM): 33 minutes until the announcement. :D
CGNakibe (11:27:24 AM): You've been counting the seconds, huh?
Idran1701 (11:28:33 AM): No, the minutes.
CGNakibe (11:30:04 AM): Heh.
CGNakibe (11:30:34 AM): Playing with Aramis' item purchases before I do some school-related work that I'm cooking up in my head.
Idran1701 (11:31:11 AM): *nod*
Idran1701 (11:41:06 AM): It looks like someone bought Races and Classes in Hungary from a store that broke street date, they've got some early summaries on its
contents.
Idran1701 (11:41:10 AM): http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=212826&goto=newpost
Idran1701 (11:41:19 AM): Wait, don't click that one.
Idran1701 (11:41:21 AM): http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=212826
Idran1701 (11:41:22 AM): There.
Idran1701 (11:41:29 AM): http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=212851
CGNakibe (11:41:59 AM): Saw something about that on the 4e threads in GitP.
CGNakibe (11:42:10 AM): That sort of thing happens, since the publishing is done overseas.
Idran1701 (11:42:19 AM): Yeah, I know.
CGNakibe (11:42:45 AM): Still. I was prepared for it to be completely pointless. A "We want your money for a preview of 4e" book.
Idran1701 (11:43:05 AM): Eh?
Idran1701 (11:43:13 AM): What was pointless about it?
CGNakibe (11:44:51 AM): Just the way it seemed to be more of a preview of 4e of sorts and not an actual book on the setting or the system proper. Personally I can wait till May to get something
more substantial.
Idran1701 (11:45:06 AM): *shrug*
Idran1701 (11:45:25 AM): It had more information than no information, at least.
Idran1701 (11:46:17 AM): And it was on the system, wasn't it?
CGNakibe (11:46:38 AM): True.
CGNakibe (11:49:07 AM): Kinda sorta.
CGNakibe (11:50:39 AM): Not too surprised by some of the stuff in it. It seems like they are making things into mostly minor racial traits and putting the major differences in the feats.
Idran1701 (11:51:29 AM): *nod*
CGNakibe (11:51:55 AM): I was expecting that, really. And it means that a lot of more powerful races that have minor LAs will be playable right from the start.
Idran1701 (11:52:11 AM): No, those are the core races.
Idran1701 (11:52:22 AM): The ones that weren't mentioned with full descriptions aren't core.
CGNakibe (11:52:41 AM): I know. I'm pointing to the general trend that will likely arise from these given specifics. >:P
Idran1701 (11:52:57 AM): What general trend?
CGNakibe (11:53:09 AM): Drow will likely be elves with a few added racial feats for the darkvision and their minor spell-likes.
Idran1701 (11:53:15 AM): We don't even know what dragonborn and eladrin are yet.
Idran1701 (11:53:23 AM): They're probably not the same as half-dragons and eladrin.
CGNakibe (11:53:25 AM): A few of the more playable races will have a small tree of feats and a base, like the Kobolds.
CGNakibe (11:53:29 AM): Oh, those?
Idran1701 (11:53:29 AM): Given that they already apparantly changed tieflings.
Idran1701 (11:53:37 AM): Yeah, the ones I assumed you were talking about.
CGNakibe (11:53:44 AM): Dragonborn and Eladrin are knowns to me.
Idran1701 (11:53:46 AM): What minor LA races did you mean?
Idran1701 (11:53:48 AM): Wait, how?
CGNakibe (11:53:58 AM): The former is in the Races of the Dragon book.
Idran1701 (11:53:59 AM): That article is all the information we have about them pretty much.
Idran1701 (11:54:01 AM): No, it's not.
Idran1701 (11:54:07 AM): They're new.
Idran1701 (11:54:26 AM): It might share a name, that's it.
Idran1701 (11:54:36 AM): The eladrin aren't anything like the eladrin in 3.5 so far, after all, are they?
Idran1701 (11:54:53 AM): And the tieflings were changed too, they're not just demonspawn anymore.
CGNakibe (11:54:55 AM): The Eladrin and the Dragonborn are pre-existing races nonetheless. Its not unreasonable that those races were the starting point for the current changes.
CGNakibe (11:55:00 AM): Yeah, but for their flavor that's minor.
Idran1701 (11:55:02 AM): They're pre-existing names.
Idran1701 (11:55:02 AM): What?
Idran1701 (11:55:07 AM): Flavor that's minor?
Idran1701 (11:55:10 AM): Then what's not minor?
Idran1701 (11:55:37 AM): Wait, misread.
Idran1701 (11:56:01 AM): Maybe they were starting points, but I don't know how you can call them knowns.
CGNakibe (11:56:05 AM): It just turns a race that MIGHT have been demonic in origin into a race of its own.
Idran1701 (11:56:18 AM): No, they're not doing that. They're not bothering with continuity with 3.5.
Idran1701 (11:56:29 AM): Some of the settings are, but the core system isn't.
Idran1701 (11:56:40 AM): Thus why they're changing the core pantheon.
CGNakibe (11:57:44 AM): But eh. The flavor bit that always set the tieflings apart from other races in 3e was that they were born of demons, and thus distrusted by society for that implication.
That they're their own race now doesn't really imply anything has truly changed for them except potentially their starting stats.
Idran1701 (11:58:08 AM): But the fact that they all loke generally the same does.
Idran1701 (11:58:10 AM): *look
Idran1701 (11:58:40 AM): They share a name and a general demonic appearance from all of them having the _same_ demonic-like facets, horns and a tail, that's it.
Idran1701 (11:58:50 AM): There's no evidence to assume they share more than that.
CGNakibe (11:59:15 AM): True. Mechanically I wasn't expecting much change either, aside from what the system itself already implies. You don't need continuity to 3e to realize that they will likely
have the same racial traits due to the fact that those don't HAVE to change. Its easier to reclaim old material than create new, after all.
Idran1701 (11:59:19 AM): And when they're changing so much already, the simpler explanation is to assume they are changing tieflings as well.
Idran1701 (11:59:28 AM): Yeah, but they aren't.
CGNakibe (11:59:48 AM): Can't say that without the system handy to argue with.
Idran1701 (11:59:51 AM): So far everything points towards major changes from 3.5, I don't see what basis you have to assume this won't.
CGNakibe (12:01:10 PM): That's a little bit like saying that because of those major changes I couldn't've told you that elves were going to reappear in the next revision either. True, I couldn't've
told you before they were announced that elves would be in the new system for certain.
CGNakibe (12:01:28 PM): But the suggestion that they were NOT in the new core was a lot more unlikely.
Idran1701 (12:01:31 PM): Or that you couldn't have told me that gnomes were going to reappear?
CGNakibe (12:01:46 PM): Couldn't've called that. >:P
Idran1701 (12:01:49 PM): Exactly.
CGNakibe (12:01:55 PM): Gnomes are a little more on the fringes than most.
Idran1701 (12:01:59 PM): Half-elves?
Idran1701 (12:02:04 PM): Did you see them mentioned there?
CGNakibe (12:02:19 PM): Tieflings got a core reference in their new pet system, Ebberon, so it was more likely that they would continue to be a factor in the next edition.
CGNakibe (12:02:40 PM): By that logic I was actually expecting either Aasimar or Tieflings to appear, honestly.
CGNakibe (12:03:14 PM): I don't feel that in the end the changes between them currently and them in the new system will be too major.
CGNakibe (12:03:42 PM): Other than that which is required by being in the new system at all.
CGNakibe (12:04:32 PM): You're right. I can't say that the new Dragonborn or Eladrin will be anything like the old, but I suspect that they will be close. Granted, these two are the ones I can be
the most likely wrong on, as well.
CGNakibe (12:04:50 PM): They only appeared in ONE book each, so there's a good chance they figure most people haven't already had preconcieved notions of them.
Idran1701 (12:05:06 PM): The eladrin appeared in at least three books.
CGNakibe (12:05:09 PM): Eladrins have more of a history behind them, so maybe.
CGNakibe (12:05:29 PM): Yeah, you're probably right and I just can't recall the... Ah. Races of Destiny was one, I think.
Idran1701 (12:05:32 PM): Then four.
Idran1701 (12:05:50 PM): Monster Manual, Book of Exalted Deeds, and Manual of the Planes.
CGNakibe (12:06:04 PM): Never touched Exalted Deeds.
CGNakibe (12:06:20 PM): And I must've just forgotten them in the Manual of the Planes. But I pull that book out so rarely. >.>
Idran1701 (12:06:21 PM): Also: looks like you didn't make it. :(
CGNakibe (12:06:27 PM): Ah, well.
Idran1701 (12:07:17 PM): http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/titanicGames/community/gaming/rpgSuperstar
Idran1701 (12:08:45 PM): You can see the debate for each item too, the links are to the forum posts where the three judges discussed the item.
CGNakibe (12:37:12 PM): Told you it'd probably be too plain. But eh.
CGNakibe (12:37:16 PM): Tough competition too.
CGNakibe (12:39:10 PM): Some of these I'd probably want to use myself.
Idran1701 (12:43:54 PM): *nod*
Idran1701 (12:44:12 PM): Well, you tried, at leas.t
I just need to remember to prod you earlier if they do this again. :D
CGNakibe (12:44:52 PM): >:P
CGNakibe (12:45:00 PM): Heh. Might be worth it.
CGNakibe (12:53:13 PM): Mmm. 22 AC isn't too bad, says I.
CGNakibe (12:53:24 PM): Even though I'm considering the cost of making it 24. >:p
Idran1701 (12:54:10 PM): Nessan only has 18, so eh either way to me. :(
CGNakibe (12:54:32 PM): Nessan also has more than two times the HP of Aramis. >:P
Idran1701 (12:54:45 PM): He does?
CGNakibe (12:54:50 PM): What's his current HP?
Idran1701 (12:55:02 PM): 118.
CGNakibe (12:55:12 PM): Slightly under 2x. 2x would be 126
Idran1701 (12:55:20 PM): Huh. Well, that doesn't make any sense.
Idran1701 (12:55:25 PM): They feel like they should have similar HP values.
CGNakibe (12:55:28 PM): It makes perfect sense.
Idran1701 (12:55:38 PM): No it doesn't. Nessan's not that much more durable than Aramis.
CGNakibe (12:55:43 PM): Its more in the mechanics of the system than anything.
Idran1701 (12:55:43 PM): Aramis is smaller, but that's it.
CGNakibe (12:55:59 PM): Aramis is smaller, has Con mod of +0.
Idran1701 (12:56:09 PM): Maybe, but he doesn't seem like it.
CGNakibe (12:56:14 PM): d8 HD can only go so far after that.
CGNakibe (12:56:20 PM): Ingame, the difference is made up by the AC.
Idran1701 (12:56:50 PM): That's still feeling off to me.
Idran1701 (12:57:08 PM): Aramis is better trained backstory-wise, it seems like he shouldbe better able to survive in combat.
Idran1701 (12:57:25 PM): Even if both of them didn't have any armor.
Idran1701 (12:57:44 PM): I'd assume from the way they're played, system aside, that Aramis would win every time in a one-on-one fight between them.
CGNakibe (12:58:32 PM): True. Systematically they're a lot closer than that. I've done a bit of honest twinking for the Attack bonus to work out.
CGNakibe (12:58:50 PM): He hits as often as Kaltz because I try to make sure that all enchantments on his weapon are just that. Weapon enchantments.
CGNakibe (12:59:01 PM): He gets a bonus from his class for concentrating his magic through his weapon.
CGNakibe (12:59:34 PM): As long as that remains in terms of straight enhancement bonus, it ups his attack bonus and damage.
CGNakibe (12:59:52 PM): Which currently puts him at +15 attack bonus, it seems, before I finish with the wonderous items.
CGNakibe (1:00:01 PM): And Damage of lots.
CGNakibe (1:00:10 PM): His AC has always been somewhat higher, again due to focusing on it.
CGNakibe (1:00:21 PM): Dex in Philsys was his major stat, so he currently has Dex 18.
CGNakibe (1:00:29 PM): And a chain shirt for mobility.
CGNakibe (1:00:53 PM): Put him at a decent 18 AC or so early on. Not impressive by twinking standards, but good enough for his level.
Idran1701 (1:01:04 PM): Nessan actually doesn't have any armor right now anymore.
CGNakibe (1:01:05 PM): Its sort of the combo that makes him effective.
Idran1701 (1:01:13 PM): Since the bracers were better than what he had anyway.
CGNakibe (1:01:15 PM): Hm. *nods*
CGNakibe (1:02:39 PM): But eh. Lots of factors and whatnot. Simple fact is that Aramis should technically hit more often than Nessan, get hit LESS often than Nessan (significantly less), and
hopefully he knows to use his magic so that he doesn't reveal the simple fact that he's not as good at taking hits.
Idran1701 (1:03:03 PM): *nod*
CGNakibe (1:03:06 PM): I've actually seriously considered boosting his Con.
CGNakibe (1:03:13 PM): He's got the second lowest HP in the party now, which is funny.
CGNakibe (1:03:39 PM): Again, taking 20% less hits does at least make some difference.
CGNakibe (1:04:01 PM): If yo uwant interesting, though?
Idran1701 (1:04:17 PM): I think it's more than 20% less hits.
Idran1701 (1:04:27 PM): It's a 20% _lower chance_ of being hit.
Idran1701 (1:04:33 PM): But that's not 20% less hits.
CGNakibe (1:04:34 PM): Point.
CGNakibe (1:04:46 PM): I knew I didn't get that one quite right. Ah, well.
Idran1701 (1:04:54 PM): Anyway, what?
CGNakibe (1:05:05 PM): New enhancment on his next set of armor is called MageArmor.
CGNakibe (1:05:21 PM): As an immediate action 3/day, he can gain a +5 to Will saves.
CGNakibe (1:05:50 PM): Better things to spend money on? Yes. But for Aramis' peace-of-mind? Can't live without it. >:P
Idran1701 (1:07:27 PM): *nod*
CGNakibe (1:09:38 PM): Hmm.
CGNakibe (1:09:58 PM): I just realized that this is the first time that I've considered seriously an "obvious" enhancement to his sword.
CGNakibe (1:10:14 PM): Keen can easily be written off as him just being that good.
CGNakibe (1:10:25 PM): Or someone knew how to make an extra-sharp edge on a sword.
CGNakibe (1:11:26 PM): Just added Eager (+2 to Init, +2 to damage during the first round and surprise rounds) and Screaming (+1d4 sonic damage).
CGNakibe (1:11:46 PM): Not sure if I should go back and find something less obvious. >:P
Idran1701 (1:12:57 PM): I just stuck with SRD stuff for mine.
Idran1701 (1:13:01 PM): What's wrong with obvious?
CGNakibe (1:13:16 PM): Nothing, really. Just curious. Although I doubt Pervy would like it. >:p
CGNakibe (1:13:28 PM): Since he seems to avoid magic items like they're plague rats.
CGNakibe (1:15:55 PM): Ah, well.
CGNakibe (1:16:02 PM): Screaming fits where several other nice things don't.
Idran1701 (1:17:01 PM): It does?
CGNakibe (1:17:09 PM): Well, somewhat.
CGNakibe (1:18:09 PM): Eager works, definitely. Screaming is a bit of a stretch, but eh. Suddenly the sword makes noise as it swoops through the air.
Idran1701 (1:18:34 PM): YEah, but why?
CGNakibe (1:21:02 PM): Because Aramis feltit needed a bit of taking care of by the local blacksmith/mage pair. He felt it was just fine, but they disagreed, took it back in back, and designed it so
that it seems to cut through the air with a greater ease than before. Granted, Aramis may not have been pleased with the price initially, but once he had the sword in hand again, he felt it was more
than worth it. As to WHY it has Screaming? Perhaps to make it more aerodynamic they created channels in certain surfaces of the blade, and retempered it to make it stronger.
CGNakibe (1:21:59 PM): The side effect of this is that the blade vibrates imperceptably as it cuts. It cuts into something more solid and sets up a bit of sympathetic vibration.
Idran1701 (1:22:14 PM): Nothing at all to do with giving it Sonic damage, right? :P
CGNakibe (1:22:21 PM): Shush, you. >:P
CGNakibe (1:22:50 PM): Although actually the way that Sonic damage spells and abilities tend to be described, its more like setting up a destructive vibration in a person or material.
Idran1701 (1:23:12 PM): Through sound, yes.
Idran1701 (1:23:23 PM): Since that's the only way sound could actually hurt a person rather than deafne them and all. :P
Idran1701 (1:23:27 PM): *deafen
CGNakibe (1:23:28 PM): Quite true.
CGNakibe (1:23:33 PM): >:P
CGNakibe (1:23:36 PM): Nevermind the spells.
CGNakibe (1:25:35 PM): Ah, well.
Idran1701 (1:25:57 PM): It was easier for me, since Nessan didn'
Idran1701 (1:26:02 PM): *didn't buy any of his items.
CGNakibe (1:26:29 PM): You need a teleport mirror so you can go and aggravate an angry badger that lives in a volcano for items. >:P
Idran1701 (1:26:33 PM): Eh?
CGNakibe (1:26:36 PM): You should tell Bes I told you this, just for the hell of it.
Idran1701 (1:26:42 PM): I don't get it, so no. >:
CGNakibe (1:26:49 PM): Setting joke, sorry.
CGNakibe (1:27:31 PM): Most of the legendary items in Redwall proper seem to have been made at Salamandastron.
CGNakibe (1:27:59 PM): So all you'd have to do is bother an angry badger (Lord Braun) for a piece of his valuable starmetal. And, you know, his forges. >:P
Idran1701 (1:28:01 PM): Ah.
Idran1701 (1:28:05 PM): No, they aren't legendary.
Idran1701 (1:28:10 PM): They're just from his castle.
Idran1701 (1:28:14 PM): They were in his room.
CGNakibe (1:28:25 PM): *nods*
CGNakibe (1:28:40 PM): Still not sure what to think of the idea of Nessan having castles.
CGNakibe (1:28:45 PM): Not that he isn't good for the job.
Idran1701 (1:28:47 PM): Nor am I.
Idran1701 (1:28:50 PM): Eh?
Idran1701 (1:28:55 PM): He is?
CGNakibe (1:28:58 PM): He might be.
CGNakibe (1:29:07 PM): He's not much worse than the other leaders in the books, I will say that.
CGNakibe (1:30:22 PM): But its still a funny thought.
CGNakibe is away at 1:43:11 PM.
CGNakibe returned at 6:10:48 PM.
Idran1701 (6:10:58 PM): Hey, Shaun.
CGNakibe (6:11:12 PM): Hey.
Idran1701 (6:12:55 PM): You know, it's awesome that the authors and EiC for Paizo actually regularly post on the Paizo message boards, talk with the fans, take advice, give behind-the-scenes
information and stuff.
Idran1701 (6:13:00 PM): I should read these more often.
CGNakibe (6:14:08 PM): Heh.
CGNakibe (6:14:14 PM): This might be incredibly useful, yes.
Idran1701 (6:14:29 PM): I don't know about useful, but is being useful really that important? :D
CGNakibe (6:14:51 PM): Maaaybe!
CGNakibe (6:15:00 PM): Entertainment value is always fun ,though. >:D
Idran1701 (6:18:34 PM): Also, how free are you about now?
CGNakibe (6:24:29 PM): No iron bars or anything. >:p
Idran1701 (6:24:36 PM): Eh?
Idran1701 (6:24:38 PM): Iron bars?
CGNakibe (6:25:20 PM): Yeah, I'm free.
Idran1701 (6:25:25 PM): ...Oh!
Idran1701 (6:25:27 PM): Heh.
CGNakibe (6:25:30 PM): >:P
Idran1701 (6:26:40 PM): *nod* Up for that side deal, then.
I should probably warn that this might get a bit odd to roleplay, so if you'd rather go for a summarization of it, that's fine with me.
Idran1701 (6:27:07 PM): I can tell you why, but it'd be a spoiler if you did decide you were all right to play it.
Idran1701 (6:27:11 PM): So that's up to you.
CGNakibe (6:27:40 PM): This sounds like fun to RP. Hard can be good.
Idran1701 (6:28:21 PM): Well, not hard so much as possibly pushing things for you. Though maybe I'm worried over nothing. :O
Idran1701 (6:31:11 PM): Want to go ahead anyway, or spoil you first so you can have fair warning and make an informed decision?
CGNakibe (6:33:36 PM): Lets go go GO!
Idran1701 (6:33:57 PM): Heh. Sure. Just one second, need to go take care of something first. Be right back.
Idran1701 (6:38:07 PM): All right. First off, it'd take about a day to get back. Probably with another stop in Faunel on the way. Anything during the trip to take care of?
CGNakibe (6:38:55 PM): Aside from remembering to compliment Karinska's parents on their cooking, and perhaps to apologize if he seemed a little too rude last time.
Idran1701 (6:39:21 PM): (He's still technically under the effect of the alignment shift, you know. :O)
Idran1701 (6:40:40 PM): (Though if he's putting extra focus into fighting it, that's fine.)
CGNakibe (6:41:08 PM): (He is, or should be now that he knows something's working on him.)
Idran1701 (6:41:34 PM): *nod* Probably should be making a Willpower check every so often, but ah well.
Idran1701 (6:43:26 PM): anyway, they accept the apology, and seem generally glad that he's not a jerk.
Idran1701 (6:43:48 PM): So, how about when they get back to Sigil? Anything of note he'd be doing there before heading back to the Sensate Hall?
CGNakibe (6:43:50 PM): Heh. He'd clearly find this comforting to know.
CGNakibe (6:44:31 PM): Hm. Maybe check up on the others, see if they're back/doing things yet.
Idran1701 (6:45:10 PM): They are! They're preparing something that might get them back home, in fact. :O
CGNakibe (6:46:00 PM): Good to know. But Arian isn't sure what he feels about it about now. Probably tell them to contact him when they're about to use it.
CGNakibe (6:46:26 PM): Meanwhile he wants to go back and talk to Karinska... and think, potentially about staying here, as weird as that is.
Idran1701 (6:46:32 PM): It's within a few hours, actually.
Idran1701 (6:47:44 PM): Karl had his memory restored, and found out that the Harmonium (one of the factions of Sigil) is sending troops to help the Kazerian "put down a local rebellion"
(obviously under false pretenses to them). They're going to head to the Harmonium's homeworld to tell them what's really going on.
CGNakibe (6:49:33 PM): "Wait, so all of this was meant to deliberately keep us out of his way while we did other things? .... That isn't surprising and yet.... why? Why this instead of something
more potentially deadly?"
Idran1701 (6:49:47 PM): Eh?
CGNakibe (6:49:50 PM): ".... I have to talk to Karinska about this."
Idran1701 (6:50:19 PM): I think there might be a misinterpretation here; the Harmonium had nothing to do with them getting sent to the planes.
CGNakibe (6:51:25 PM): (Wasn't assuming that the Harmonium was it. But he's assuming that the Kazerian had access to planar travel of some kind to set this up. He's starting to wonder if the
Kazerian deliberately sent us to another plane, either to make sure his device worked, or to remove us from the picture.)
Idran1701 (6:51:32 PM): (Aha.)
Idran1701 (6:51:38 PM): He might!
Idran1701 (6:51:42 PM): But the Harmonium came by ship.
Idran1701 (6:51:45 PM): Flying ship.
Idran1701 (6:51:54 PM): From another Prime world, through the sky.
CGNakibe (6:52:45 PM): ".... A flying ship. o.o"
CGNakibe (6:52:52 PM): (A THREE HOUR TOUR?!?)
Idran1701 (6:54:31 PM): (Heh. :D)
CGNakibe (6:55:48 PM): " ... You're serious, aren't you?"
Idran1701 (6:58:04 PM): He's serious. :D
CGNakibe (6:58:51 PM): ".... I'm clearly going to have to think about this for a bit. Just wish it was a longer bit."
CGNakibe (6:59:43 PM): (Arian: But I don't know the first thing about Spelljammer! ;_; )
Idran1701 (7:00:10 PM): Heh.
Idran1701 (7:01:32 PM): Anything else before heading back to Karinska's place?
CGNakibe (7:02:23 PM): Nothing else that I or he can think of.
Idran1701 (7:02:30 PM): *nod*
Idran1701 (7:03:23 PM): Then we can pick up there, when he's showing up.
Idran1701 (7:03:31 PM): Anytime you're ready. :O
CGNakibe (7:04:28 PM): (Ready)
Idran1701 (7:05:18 PM): <Start!>
CGNakibe (7:05:41 PM): <Mew?>
Idran1701 (7:07:11 PM): *Arian returns to the Hall of the Sensates, a difficult decision laid before him. He's soon to have the opportunity to return home, but does he really want to anymore?*
(Oh, almost forgot to mention; both of them still have their animalistic characteristics, and will for an amount of time equal to the amount of time they spent on the plane. So about a day.)
CGNakibe (7:08:37 PM): IM: ... all this time I've wanted to go back... and yet...
CGNakibe (7:08:43 PM): IM: .... gods, what do I do now?
Idran1701 (7:08:59 PM): *It's a short, familiar trip through the hallways before reaching Karinska's door, with a few increasingly-familiar faces seen along the way. He really ought to learn some of
their names at some point.*
CGNakibe (7:10:06 PM): *knocks once more, still not sure what he should say to Karinska. Or something*
Idran1701 (7:10:59 PM): *from inside* Let yourself in, I'll be right there!
CGNakibe (7:11:42 PM): *opens the door, and takes a seat*
CGNakibe (7:11:49 PM): IM: Maybe I should just stay here...
Idran1701 (7:12:35 PM): *the door to Karin's room hangs just a bit open, and he can hear her shuffling around a bit there as he waits*
CGNakibe (7:12:40 PM): IM: Its a nice place. Here I'm not required to act Just So, or to be polite to people when its not necessary...
CGNakibe (7:12:52 PM): IM: But... Gods. Nothing can ever be easy, is it?
Idran1701 (7:18:09 PM): *Before long, she emerges from her room, having changed out of her traveling clothes. She grins as she notices Arian, walking over barefoot, her pale blue dress swishing
around her calves. She's tied her hair back for now, it seems, her ponytail bouncing with her steps as she pads to the couch. She takes a seat next to Arian, leaning over to kiss him before
reluctantly sitting back, taking his hand.*
I hoped it was you. How is everyone?
CGNakibe (7:18:42 PM): They seem rather... busy. -.-;; And I suppose I should be too, but.... *sighs*
Idran1701 (7:18:52 PM): ...What's wrong?
CGNakibe (7:19:01 PM): Karl says he got his lost memories back.
CGNakibe (7:19:12 PM): Of getting back home to the Prime.
CGNakibe (7:20:15 PM): Apparently the Harmonium have actually found a way there and are being hired by that Kazerian fellow as a small army.
CGNakibe (7:20:46 PM): He said something else I didn't understand, about them getting to our world in the Prime by flying ships, but.... they intend to confront them tonight.
CGNakibe (7:20:59 PM): And... I'm... not sure if I want to go with them. <.<
Idran1701 (7:21:21 PM): ...You're not? How is that even a question for you, Arian?
CGNakibe (7:23:11 PM): .... It IS home, certainly. And.... I suppose I at least have a responsibility to foil his plans. But... I can't be sure I'll be able to get back here. To you. I mean, I don't
know. It should be possible, but....
Idran1701 (7:23:36 PM): *smirks* I can come with you, you know.
CGNakibe (7:24:40 PM): *smiles* You can, certainly. Just that... nevermind, I suppose you've given me an answer to that. But do you want to come?
Idran1701 (7:25:34 PM): ...Well, I've never been to the Prime. It'd be a new experience, at least.
CGNakibe (7:27:03 PM): True. And I'm more than a tad curious about these supposed flying boats.
Idran1701 (7:28:00 PM): *chuckles* More comments like that and I might have to push harder to enlist you.
Idran1701 (7:29:44 PM): ...*starts rubbing his hand* You were really thinking about staying here, just for me? Just...leaving behind your home for good?
CGNakibe (7:29:51 PM): At this rate I might go along with it just out of curiousity.
CGNakibe (7:30:04 PM): ... well. Um....
CGNakibe (7:30:07 PM): Yes.
Idran1701 (7:31:51 PM): ...I'm not really sure what to say to that. *smiles*
CGNakibe (7:35:28 PM): You don't have to say anything. Although...
CGNakibe (7:35:38 PM): I suppose I should ask what you know of the Harmonium around here.
CGNakibe (7:35:47 PM): I take it they won't like the idea that they're being used.
Idran1701 (7:37:19 PM): I wouldn't think so. I've never looked much into the Harmonium...they're too rigid for me, too strict. They handle arresting criminals in Sigil, keeping order as best they
can.
Idran1701 (7:38:21 PM): *slight frown* They believe that the best way to provide for society and bring harmony is by bringing everyone over their rule. If everyone listens to them, there won't be
any war or violence, as they'll all be under their rule.
CGNakibe (7:39:10 PM): They sound like they can be more than a tad unpleasant.
Idran1701 (7:39:43 PM): I suppose they have good intentions. Most of them. But it's too restricting for me.
Idran1701 (7:40:20 PM): They do a lot of work in Arcadia, I think. That's where their out of town headquarters is.
CGNakibe (7:40:33 PM): *nods* I wonder how the Kazerian got in with them in the first place.
Idran1701 (7:41:02 PM): (d20!)
CGNakibe (7:43:33 PM): (Bah, one sec)
CGNakibe (7:44:26 PM): (11)
Idran1701 (7:44:35 PM): (Haha, made you work. :D)
Idran1701 (7:44:47 PM): (Arcadia was the plane they arrived on!)
CGNakibe (7:45:15 PM): Wait. I... think the first place we showed up was Arcadia. o.o
CGNakibe (7:45:30 PM): ..... Well. Damn.
Idran1701 (7:46:23 PM): ...What?
CGNakibe (7:47:07 PM): I'm... not sure. But maybe our accident of coming here wasn't an accident at all. Or at least he used it for something else once he'd done... whatever it was he did exactly.
Idran1701 (7:48:05 PM): ...Well, I suppose you might be able to find out sooner or later.
CGNakibe (7:49:28 PM): True. Either way this seems like it will be even more filled with trouble than our last few weeks have been.
Idran1701 (7:50:37 PM): *snickers, letting go of his hand and putting an arm around his shoulders, pulling him in* Well, it hasn't all been trouble for you, I hope.
CGNakibe (7:51:43 PM): Well, there are bright spots, I'd say. Some definite ones.
Idran1701 (7:52:41 PM): *grins* I thought there might be a few you could think of.
CGNakibe (7:56:03 PM): *sighs* I just wish that new adventures would be polite enough to come after a week or so to rest.
Idran1701 (7:56:42 PM): *chuckles* Well, you know, you were thinking of taking some time off. It might not be a great chance for it _now_, but maybe soon?
CGNakibe (7:57:42 PM): Certainly.
Idran1701 (7:59:15 PM): *smiling, she leans in, giving him another kiss* I think I'd enjoy that myself.
Idran1701 (7:59:46 PM): ...So, were you serious about joining the Sensates?
CGNakibe (8:01:17 PM): I can certainly see the appeal of it. And I won't deny that the chance to see things through someone else's eyes intrigues me, so I'm considering it.
Idran1701 (8:02:24 PM): Maybe, but...well, no offense to you, Arian, but you never seemed especially...philosophical, to me.
CGNakibe (8:03:59 PM): *chuckles* No offense taken. Perhaps I'm not the most introspective person in the world, but you're also talking to the noble that likes the idea of being a horse trader.
*shrugs, and grins*
CGNakibe (8:04:16 PM): Granted, I doubt any looks at someone who could do it well would help me with THAT.
Idran1701 (8:07:06 PM): *chuckles* I suppose not. But...well, a few members would hate me for saying this, but I don't think it's best for you to join a faction just because I'm a member. I might
believe deeply in the Sensates' ideas, but I could understand if you don't. It's more than just seeing the planes, after all.
CGNakibe (8:08:19 PM): *nods* To be honest, I'm just giving it a bit of thought. I'm not sure enough to say I want to or not.
Idran1701 (8:09:49 PM): *nod* You certainly don't have to join a faction at all. But I won't say it doesn't open doors for people in Sigil.
CGNakibe (8:13:34 PM): Not to mention that it must help a lot to at least have a group whose goals you can also share.
Idran1701 (8:14:08 PM): *nods* It...was a big help for me when I first came to Sigil, yeah. *smiles*
Idran1701 (8:14:36 PM): I don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't met Marina.
Idran1701 (8:19:19 PM): ...You know, there are pamphlets some of the touts give to new arrivals, summing up the factions to help people decide. I could probably find one for you.
CGNakibe (8:20:17 PM): Ah, thank you. I've always seemed to miss getting things like this.
Idran1701 (8:20:50 PM): *nods*
Idran1701 (8:21:03 PM): Who knows, you might settle on the Sensates anyway. *grins*
CGNakibe (8:25:20 PM): I just might at that. *smiles*
Idran1701 (8:25:46 PM): ...That reminds me, though...
CGNakibe (8:28:27 PM): Hm? Reminds you of what?
Idran1701 (8:29:05 PM): ...Something I wanted to ask you. I know I can trust you with this...I just don't know if you'd be comfortable with it.
Idran1701 (8:38:59 PM): (Shaun? :O)
CGNakibe (8:41:33 PM): ... what is it? You know I'd say yes, whatever it was.
Idran1701 (8:42:06 PM): Well...can you wait here just a bit?
CGNakibe (8:42:13 PM): Of course.
Idran1701 (8:44:32 PM): *she gives him a peck before standing, heading back to her room*
Idran1701 (8:47:26 PM): *and she comes out shortly, looking to him unsurely...one of the collars from the Vile Hunt in her hand*
CGNakibe (8:49:42 PM): ... Eh? o.o I didn't know you'd brought back one of those.
CGNakibe (8:49:45 PM): (Ahahah)
Idran1701 (8:50:08 PM): (Heh. I'm surprised you didn't think she'd do this already. :D)
CGNakibe (8:50:22 PM): (She WAS rather silent during the last bits of the raid.)
CGNakibe (8:50:36 PM): (Arian is, of course, mostly clueless! :D!)
Idran1701 (8:50:39 PM): ...Yeah. I don't like the way they were using them...but I couldn't help to be curious about what it was like.
Idran1701 (8:51:10 PM): But I couldn't exactly take it off myself if I tried it alone. And I'd rather not someone stumble in while I was trying it.
CGNakibe (8:51:28 PM): I see... Are you... sure you want to do this?
CGNakibe (8:52:17 PM): I mean, I'm sure it likely won't hurt or anything, but still...
Idran1701 (8:54:28 PM): ...I thought you'd be uncomfortable with it. But I do, yeah. It wouldn't be right for me to let the chance pass me by, after all, right? Just for...I'm not sure...an hour or so?
...Or less if someone comes knocking, of course. *small, forced chuckle*
CGNakibe (8:55:39 PM): Of course. Um....
CGNakibe (8:55:49 PM): Now, or would you prefer to wait a bit?
Idran1701 (8:56:05 PM): ...Well, do you want to wait?
CGNakibe (8:56:44 PM): ... well, I'm... Like you thought, I'm not quite comfortable with it. I'll do it, certainly.
Idran1701 (8:57:54 PM): ..Do you want some time to...well...settle into the idea?
CGNakibe (8:58:19 PM): Just a little, I think.
Idran1701 (8:58:33 PM): *nods*
...Anything I can do to help?
CGNakibe (8:59:28 PM): *chuckles a little* I'm... just going to have to get comfortable with it, I think.
Idran1701 (8:59:46 PM): ...*smirks* Want a drink or something?
CGNakibe (9:00:18 PM): Heh. Perhaps later.
Idran1701 (9:00:59 PM): Are you sure? It might help you relax.
CGNakibe (9:01:13 PM): ... *shakes his head* Perhaps you're right. Thanks. Just... waht do you have?
Idran1701 (9:02:56 PM): Well...*thinks*
...Some wine, maybe? Nothing too strong.
CGNakibe (9:03:46 PM): That would definitely help.
Idran1701 (9:04:50 PM): *nods, she passes behind the couch to her cabinets, giving his shoulder a squeeze on the way by*
CGNakibe (9:06:48 PM): *smiles up at her as she goes, still a bit unsure.*
Idran1701 (9:07:16 PM): *She pours a pair of glasses, carrying them back over to Arian. Handing one to him, she takes her seat once more, folding her legs under herself as she sits.* It's a pretty
good vintage, I think. I picked it up on a trip a year or two ago.
CGNakibe (9:09:35 PM): *takes a glass, and begins sipping at it.* A very good vintage at that. Even at home a vintage this good has been rare.
CGNakibe (9:10:58 PM): (Rar.)
Idran1701 (9:12:29 PM): *nods, sipping at her own glass*
...So, does the wine this make this an official date, then? *smirks*
CGNakibe (9:13:48 PM): *chuckles* I'm sure some others would complain that I didn't at least provide the wine.
CGNakibe (9:14:01 PM): Although if you're in the mood for... lunch, perhaps?
Idran1701 (9:14:28 PM): *nods, smiling* Sure, that sounds nice.
...Before or after?
CGNakibe (9:15:06 PM): After, perhaps.
Idran1701 (9:21:43 PM): *nods* Are you starting to feel any better about it?
CGNakibe (9:29:28 PM): A bit, I think.
Idran1701 (9:30:34 PM): *nods* Good. As odd as it sounds, I was almost looking forward to this.
CGNakibe (9:33:10 PM): I'm starting to wonder how it would be for you.
Idran1701 (9:34:02 PM): So am I. It's bound to be interesting. And it's just temporary, after all. You won't have to worry about me.
CGNakibe (9:34:17 PM): *nods* You're right.
Idran1701 (9:34:21 PM): And if you get too unnerved, you can always take it off of me.
CGNakibe (9:34:42 PM): I will, of course.
Idran1701 (9:35:56 PM): *chuckles* Well, I hope you won't do it too quickly. I don't want to end it that fast.
CGNakibe (9:40:00 PM): I'll try not to.
Idran1701 (9:40:26 PM): *nods*
...So, do you think you're ready for this?
CGNakibe (9:41:07 PM): I... think so. As much as I can be, really.
Idran1701 (9:42:40 PM): *nods, setting her glass down on the floor and handing the collar to Arian*
Idran1701 (9:43:05 PM): *pulls her hair back and out of the way* I don't really know how long it'll take to take effect...not too long, I hope.
CGNakibe (9:44:19 PM): *takes the collar, looking at it for a minute...* Are you ready?
Idran1701 (9:46:27 PM): *nods* If you are.
CGNakibe (9:47:26 PM): *... and that being said... Arian takes care in putting the collar on her* .... There.
Idran1701 (9:48:13 PM): *the collar clicks into place, and seconds tick past*
Idran1701 (9:48:35 PM): ...*blinking, looking half-lidded* I think it's startin' to work...
CGNakibe (9:49:00 PM): How do you feel? Are you still okay?
Idran1701 (9:49:54 PM): ...feelin'...cloudy...*she slumps against Arian a little, giggling*
CGNakibe (9:51:02 PM): Cloudy? Karinska? *eyes her and her giggling... but isn't sure whether to take the thing off yet or not*
Idran1701 (9:52:45 PM): *she looks up to Arian dimly, but adoringly, nuzzling his shoulder a little in an almost feline-like fashion* Mip.
CGNakibe (9:53:15 PM): ... Er... Karinska? o.o
Idran1701 (9:54:37 PM): *she continues to stare at him, smiling, her eyes dull* Mip.
CGNakibe (9:54:55 PM): Mip? Oh. Oh. It must be running its course...
CGNakibe (9:55:14 PM): Karinska? o.o *suddenly posessed of the urge to scratch her behind the cat ears*
Idran1701 (9:55:51 PM): *the name doesn't inspire any recognition in her that he can notice; she seems to be happy enough just rubbing his shoulder for now*
CGNakibe (9:56:04 PM): Okay... Um... hold still, please. I'll take the thing off now...
CGNakibe (9:56:24 PM): *does manage to scratch lightly behind an ear for a moment.* Whoops. Hold on... just gotta.....
Idran1701 (9:56:44 PM): *she actually starts purring a little at that, looking fairly happy despite her state*
CGNakibe (9:57:19 PM): *and thus he begins to take off the collar* Hopefully that'll be enough for now..
CGNakibe (9:57:25 PM): ... There.
CGNakibe (9:57:46 PM): *unbuckles collar and places it on the nearby table*
Idran1701 (9:58:55 PM): *she fights it a little, pawing at Arian as he unclasps it more than anything else - she doesn't seem to have much wareness of having true hands - but after the collar's
removed, the intelligence quickly starts returning to her eyes*
CGNakibe (9:59:32 PM): Karinska? How... how do you feel?
CGNakibe (9:59:44 PM): I'm sorry if that was too soon, just....
Idran1701 (10:02:12 PM): ...Huh? *she looks to still be readjusting a little, shaking her head as if just waking up from a long nap*
CGNakibe (10:02:25 PM): .... How do you feel?
Idran1701 (10:03:15 PM): I'm...I feel okay.
...That fast, though? *sounds more than a bit disappointed*
CGNakibe (10:03:34 PM): Oh. Sorry. Do you want me to put it back on? Its just....
CGNakibe (10:03:52 PM): *chuckles* You were acting a good bit like a cat.
CGNakibe (10:04:03 PM): It was weird. And interesting.
Idran1701 (10:04:16 PM): *chuckles* I know, I can remember it.
Idran1701 (10:04:33 PM): Why'd you take it off, then?
CGNakibe (10:05:17 PM): Because I worry too much. Want to try it again, I assume. *and picks up the collar once more*
Idran1701 (10:06:15 PM): Well, I don't want to make you uncomfortable. I can find someone else, if it bothers you.
CGNakibe (10:08:44 PM): I can't say I'm used to having people suddenly act like cats. Although... I'm wondering what I'd be like with it as well, now. Now that I'm feeling foolish for worrying,
mind.
Idran1701 (10:09:43 PM): ...Really?
CGNakibe (10:10:34 PM): ... maybe a little, yes. Its just.... *sighs* I really AM worrying too much, aren't I?
Idran1701 (10:12:17 PM): *smiles* I think it's sweet. I can see why you're worried...it's just that it's just another experience to me. And if you allow yourself nothing but pleasant experiences,
you're only seeing one side of the multiverse.
Idran1701 (10:12:45 PM): You have to take the good with the bad, and take what you can from both to improve yourself.
CGNakibe (10:15:35 PM): You're right, of course. But for me its one thing to say it and another to understand it deeper in, I guess.
Idran1701 (10:18:03 PM): *nods* I know, it does take some getting used to. And it's because you worry that I won't go into too much detail about the things I've done. *smirks*
CGNakibe (10:20:07 PM): That's g... wait.. what sort of things? >.>
Idran1701 (10:21:27 PM): *chuckles* Do you honestly want me to tell you?
...Though I guess you'll probably worry either way now, won't you?
CGNakibe (10:24:26 PM): Well, its not that just I... Okay, maybe I do worry a little, but... even so...
CGNakibe (10:26:08 PM): *sighs* Suddenly I think I've managed to complicate simple matters. -.-;;
Idran1701 (10:26:38 PM): No, it's fine, Arian. I know you worry about me, it's one of the things I love about you.
Idran1701 (10:28:45 PM): Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, but if I've said that much, I suppose it's not fair to you to withhold details. You'll be fretting about what I've done anyway.
CGNakibe (10:35:16 PM): (Getting a little tired here, honestly)
Idran1701 (10:35:32 PM): (Bah, it's only midnight! :( )
Idran1701 (10:39:08 PM): (Seriously, though, that's fine. Think we can pick this up tomorrow before the session?)
CGNakibe (10:39:27 PM): (I think we can, yeah. Tomorrow should be a short day and whatnot.)
Idran1701 (10:39:35 PM): (*nod*)
CGNakibe is idle at 10:56:02 PM.
CGNakibe is away at 11:01:02 PM.
CGNakibe returned at 11:01:35 PM.
CGNakibe signed off at 11:02:03 PM.
