Idran1701 (5:46:16 AM): !
SongstressEnlil (5:46:34 AM): *?!*
Idran1701 (5:46:38 AM): HELLO
SongstressEnlil (5:46:59 AM): *GRATINGS*
Idran1701 (5:47:15 AM): YOU MISSED MY BIRTHDAY ;_;
SongstressEnlil (5:47:34 AM): *I'm sorry ._.*
Idran1701 (5:47:39 AM): Nah, that's fine. :D
Idran1701 (5:47:58 AM): What was up, anyway? Nothing wrong, I hope?
SongstressEnlil (5:50:29 AM): *Original plan: Shini takes me home on Wednesday evening/thursday morning.
Fails because: Shini was feeling lazy.
Back-up plan: Priam takes me home on thursday evening.
Fails because: BW followed Priam home from work, events commenced.
Actual resolution: Shini takes me home around 4AM. I had crashed around 1, and was not going to stop just because I was home.*
Idran1701 (5:50:59 AM): *nod*
Idran1701 (5:51:18 AM): Well, if you're going to be around for a while now, I'm good for the sidequest right now. :D
SongstressEnlil (5:51:54 AM): *I can probably give a few hours before Sarah needs it for homeschooling.*
Idran1701 (5:52:27 AM): Ah. I'll just go for a couple just in case; don't want to take time away from that by mistake.
Idran1701 (5:52:31 AM): IM good?
SongstressEnlil (5:52:58 AM): *Sure is*
Idran1701 (5:53:10 AM): (Awesome.)
Idran1701 (5:53:12 AM): <RP!>
SongstressEnlil (5:53:29 AM): <Mechanus Cannon!>
Idran1701 (5:55:32 AM): The rest of the party has left for Sigil, leaving Karl on his own, to head along with the caravan for
now. From the sound of it, they intend to take a side-branch of something known as the "Labyrinthine Portal"; a
confusing undercurrent of Mechanus that is more commonly used for transit from one gear to another, from what Karl can
gather.
Idran1701 (5:56:13 AM): The progress is about halfway complete as they pause on a smaller, slow-moving cog for a bit, when
Karl hears a voice from behind.
There you are!
SongstressEnlil (5:58:10 AM): *Starts rather violently, then turns around., his face both curious and startled*
Idran1701 (5:58:39 AM): *it's the Coffinmaker!* The others left back at Delon, and they didn't even tell me! Can you believe that?
SongstressEnlil (5:59:24 AM): Ah, they did?
SongstressEnlil (5:59:38 AM): IM: How unsurprising.
Idran1701 (6:00:43 AM): *chuckles* Lilium even forgot to let me know where their portal was; must have...must have slipped her
mind, I imagine.
You intend to...to meet back with them, yes?
SongstressEnlil (6:01:07 AM): *Small grin* I do, yes.
Idran1701 (6:01:26 AM): *wider grin in return* Then I'll just have to stick with you!
SongstressEnlil (6:02:43 AM): Just in case we get seperated, I intend to take a portal to Sigil that opens from the Astral to the
Mortuaty in the Hive..
Idran1701 (6:03:34 AM): ...*somehow grins wider* The Mortuary, you say?
Do you think they would be open to...to a...a business arrangement of sorts?
SongstressEnlil (6:04:57 AM): Well, I suspect you may be able to interest a couple there.
Idran1701 (6:05:36 AM): Excellent. Meeting you lot, it surprises me just how...how lucrative it has the potential to be.
SongstressEnlil (6:06:48 AM): I'm pleased to hear you're benefiting.
SongstressEnlil (6:06:57 AM): (Yar, brb(
Idran1701 (6:07:01 AM): (*nod*)
SongstressEnlil is away at 6:07:01 AM.
Auto response from SongstressEnlil (6:07:01 AM): I am away from my computer right now.
SongstressEnlil (6:22:54 AM): (Back)
SongstressEnlil returned at 6:22:55 AM.
Idran1701 (6:22:59 AM): Oh, indeed, indeed! Ah, looks like we're moving again.
And indeed they are, heading once more through the confusing portal system. Travel at a 35 degree angle through one
portal surface, pass through another from the rear side, a third with a total transit time of greater than 2 seconds per
person. A strange set of rules, but apparantly necessary to move from one destination to another.
SongstressEnlil (6:24:06 AM): IM: I wonder if even the Delians know how this portal works?
Idran1701 (6:24:39 AM): Eventually, in the strange tunnel-like constructs, they come to a shimmering wall of color; the
gateway from Mechanus to the Astral, it soon becomes apparant as the caravan passes through.
Idran1701 (6:26:48 AM): As the caravan rolls through, the bariaur takes hold of the front, calming the horses and helping to
lead them and the wagons to an odd bit of flat land not far from the pool.
Idran1701 (6:27:39 AM): They seem much happier once they have a bit of land underfoot, and it proceeds to roll on.
Another familiar face soon pops through the color pool, emerging near Karl. Eh, y'r headin' off soon 'nough, yeah?
SongstressEnlil (6:28:36 AM): I shall be, my friend. It's been a good trip.
Idran1701 (6:29:10 AM): *nods* Good travellin' wit' y'. See y' again in th' future, maybe.
SongstressEnlil (6:31:14 AM): I hope so.
*Digs out three gold coins, and passes them over to Palot.* I was going to treat you to a good meal for all the help you gave me,
but the opportunity never came up. I'm sure you know someplace in Sigil where you can find something satisfying instead.
Idran1701 (6:32:13 AM): Eh?
...*smirks, pocketing them* Well, I'm never one t' turn down a bi' o' extra jink. 'ppreciate th' thought, I'll be sure an' do tha'.
SongstressEnlil (6:33:20 AM): It's the least I could do to show my appreciation. Until we meet again, Palot.
*With that, he'll float toward the caravan master.*
Idran1701 (6:34:06 AM): He seems a bit distracted bringing the wagons to landfall, but he looks up at Karl's approach.
SongstressEnlil (6:34:31 AM): It's time for me to leave the caravan, sir.
Idran1701 (6:36:27 AM): *nods* Right, 'course.
*makes a note on a bit of parchment, and hands over a small satchel of gold* Good having you. Be sure'n sign up
again if you ever get the chance.
SongstressEnlil (6:37:19 AM): *Nods, and takes the sack.* I'll keep you in mind. It was a pleasure.
Idran1701 (6:38:22 AM): *nods back, turning back to his work*
SongstressEnlil (6:40:39 AM): *Takes a moment to visualize the flower-covered god corpse, recalling the shape thatwas described,
and the information on when it appeared.
If he gets a feeling he should go a certain way, he'll take it. If not, he'll go to the left at about 90 degrees from the caravan.*
Idran1701 (6:42:07 AM): *no real feeling, no, so he heads off from the caravan
and not long after, the Coffinmaker begins to come up from behind* So, I'm...I have to admit, I'm a bit curious. Just what is
your stopover here for, anyway?
SongstressEnlil (6:44:14 AM): Hmmm, something of a pilgrimage, I suppose. There is a deity from my world who stopped answering
prayers some centuries ago. Some believe he has died, others thing he is in reclusion. I have learned of a god's corpse which died
around that time, and would like to see if it is him.
Idran1701 (6:45:38 AM): ...A god's corpse? Well, this would certainly be the...the place for that, I suppose...
...*looks thoughtful, as he seems to be considering something*
SongstressEnlil (6:48:02 AM): Something on your mind?
Idran1701 (6:48:27 AM): ...Hmm? Oh...no...no...
*muttered* Probably wouldn't work anyway.
SongstressEnlil (6:48:51 AM): You're not going to try to put it in a coffin, I hope?
Idran1701 (6:49:04 AM): ...
Idran1701 (6:49:32 AM): ...Well...
SongstressEnlil (6:51:18 AM): I don't think it would be very pleased with that. Lilium has told you about, ah, Larry, was it?
Idran1701 (6:51:32 AM): ...A bit of it, yes.
SongstressEnlil (6:52:27 AM): *Nods* Keep it in mind.
Idran1701 (6:53:46 AM): ...Right.
Guess not. Normal corpses are so much...*getsures*...easier to work with anyway. Only ever had two of them complain.
SongstressEnlil (6:54:08 AM): Oh?
Idran1701 (6:55:06 AM): ...Wait, three.
Idran1701 (6:55:36 AM): ...How many does an ettin count as?
SongstressEnlil (6:56:14 AM): I'm not sure.
Idran1701 (6:56:19 AM): ...I'll say three.
Idran1701 (6:57:03 AM): And at least one of those was after I'd already animated them anyway.
SongstressEnlil (6:58:08 AM): And the one that was before?
Idran1701 (6:59:25 AM): *frowns, looking quite a bit peeved* He came back after I'd already purchased the body.
*muttered* Who ever heard of a time-delayed resurrection, anyway.
SongstressEnlil (6:59:57 AM): How inconvenient.
Idran1701 (7:00:37 AM): Wouldn't even give me...not even a partial refund. I tell you, stopped working with that fellow.
SongstressEnlil (7:01:09 AM): *Nods.* Was the ressurected person understanding about it?
Idran1701 (7:03:19 AM): You'd think he would be, coming back to life and all. But no, he just started shouting. "Where am I?"
"Who are you?" "Why is it so dark?" "What are you doing with those entrails?"
*shakes his head* Tried to calm him down, but he wasn't...no, he wasn't having any of that.
SongstressEnlil (7:03:59 AM): I hope he didn't break too much, then.
Idran1701 (7:04:53 AM): Ah, nothing I couldn't replace.
SongstressEnlil (7:05:40 AM): It could have been worse, I suspect.
Idran1701 (7:06:50 AM): Hmph. I suppose.
Idran1701 (7:09:22 AM): *he shifts his pack* Still, I imagine gods'd be even more unhappy about that. Bah. Can't they just leave
their bodies behind like decent folks?
SongstressEnlil (7:09:52 AM): I suspect they don't have much of a say in the matter.
Idran1701 (7:10:55 AM): Small comfort, that.
SongstressEnlil (7:12:13 AM): It's probably for the best. It wouldn't do to have such things fall into the wrong hands.
SongstressEnlil (7:14:28 AM): (Ready to move on when you are)
Idran1701 (7:15:04 AM): (Isn't it getting about close to Sarah needing to use it? Didn't want to get into major stuff that we'd have to
cut halfway through.)
SongstressEnlil (7:15:29 AM): (We got at least 45 minutes)
Idran1701 (7:15:44 AM): (Ah, all right, that should be plenty of time. *nod*)
Idran1701 (7:16:37 AM): The pair press on through the Astral, the Coffinmaker following Karl's lead. Soon, a number of
silent hours later, a speck makes itself visible in the distance, slowly growing in size as the pair draw closer.
SongstressEnlil (7:17:12 AM): IM: Is that it?
Idran1701 (7:18:54 AM): Soon enough, details start growing visible; trees are the first to be identified, but other sorts of
plantlife can quickly be seen as well. It appears much smaller than the last godcorpse, but the sight of all this green is
definitely a pleasant change from the silvery void that surrounds them.
Idran1701 (7:19:19 AM): ...This your dead power?
SongstressEnlil (7:21:01 AM): It may be. I wish I knew a bit more about botany, so I could compare the plants to ones on Legunda.
*Floats toward it, to land on it.*
Idran1701 (7:22:55 AM): The Coffinmaker lands alongside...though he doesn't know quite enough to identify any of the
plants, even if this isn't from Legunda, it's still a fair bit more comforting than anywhere he's been in the last couple of
weeks. This is the first halfway-normal landscape he's found himself in in some time...even the Astral seems to take on a
bit of a bluish tinge while he stands here, reminiscent of a pleasant summer day.
Idran1701 (7:24:37 AM): Though, the longer he stands here, the more he gets a vague sense of...disconcertment. These things
shouldn't be here. They should be far from the Astral. They don't belong here.
The feelings don't seem entirely his own, but they're present nonetheless.
SongstressEnlil (7:26:25 AM): *Seems a bit pleased at first, but a frown appears on his face and deepens as the feeling carries on.
Quietly, he'll start to explore the island, intentionally walking as opposed to floating.*
SongstressEnlil (7:26:48 AM): IM: You're supposed to be on Legunda, aren't you?
Idran1701 (7:27:01 AM): The Coffinmaker follows for a bit...but he soon stops, staring off past the plantlife that surrounds
them.
Idran1701 (7:27:36 AM): *quietly, doesn't seem to be feeling much of the effects himself* ...I think we're being watched.
SongstressEnlil (7:28:22 AM): *Looks around, saying nothing.*
Idran1701 (7:29:25 AM): Following the necromancer's gaze, he indeed can spy the source of his concern. A humanoid figure,
visible in the distance, too far to make any details out beyond its form. It seems to just be floating there, arms crossed,
observing.
SongstressEnlil (7:30:40 AM): *Watches it, making no threatening motions, to see if it does anything.*
*quietly* I see it.
Idran1701 (7:31:41 AM): It merely seems to continue its
own observation motionlessly, leaving no sign of
acknowledgement of their discovery.
SongstressEnlil (7:32:06 AM): *Quietly* Should we
contact him?
Idran1701 (7:32:59 AM): *quietly* ...I'm not sure...did anyone know you were coming here?
SongstressEnlil (7:33:31 AM): *Shakes his head* Well, he hasn't tried to kill us yet. Let's take that as a good sign.
Idran1701 (7:33:45 AM): *nods*
SongstressEnlil (7:34:15 AM): *Waves to the figure.*
Idran1701 (7:35:04 AM): He makes no reaction. Though as Karl waves, he gets a vague sense of something...growing about them. Something
intangible, but there...similar to the feeling of wrongness he's felt about this island.
Idran1701 (7:35:27 AM): There's a flicker in front of him...almost like an illusion, but only for an instant.
SongstressEnlil (7:35:43 AM): Did you see that?
Idran1701 (7:36:23 AM): Did he do something?
SongstressEnlil (7:36:53 AM): I don't know. Something's wrong, though.
Idran1701 (7:38:06 AM): ...As he looks to the Coffinmaker, his figure seems to be fading...as do the rest of the surroundings. Fading onto a
colorness background about him, as another flicker occurs between the pair.
SongstressEnlil (7:39:47 AM): *Starts to say something, then stops. After a moment's consideration, he speaks again.* Can you hear me, still?
Idran1701 (7:42:37 AM): The mage replies, but his voice is muted...barely audible, and not intelligible in the least.
There seems to be the feeling of something pressing down upon Karl from all directions, before it breaks free...the feeling of wrongness fades,
replaced by another feeling...a fulfilling, all-encompassing feeling of love passes through him, with a barely audible word at the back of his
hearing: Mauthe...
Idran1701 (7:43:03 AM): The feeling soon fades itself, replaces by a sense of worry...fear, panic, and a tinge of regret.
Idran1701 (7:43:15 AM): A sudden stabbing pain passes through him.
SongstressEnlil (7:44:15 AM): *Doesn't say anything, trying to makes sense of these feelings, until the pain hits.* Argh! *Tries to put a hand over where it
is worst. May or may not remain standing.*
Idran1701 (7:45:45 AM): There's the sense of motion...another flicker about him, though this one's more visible...it has the vague impression of
hurtling through the astral, to emerge into a dark void...
...the image soon vanishes...the sense of worry grows quickly, as does the stabbing pain he feels, it spreading throughout his body.
Idran1701 (7:47:20 AM): This sense of pain grows even worse rapidly, though it shifts in nature...far from a sense of horrible discomfort, he feels a
burning pass over his body...
...the pain itself begins to fade, as do the remaining feelings...he's left with an all-encompassing sense of depression...sadness, pity, and
self-recrimination...before that too fades...
Idran1701 (7:47:44 AM): ...and in an instant, the landscape about him once more appears normal, all feelings gone but that vague sense of
wrongness about the island.
Idran1701 (7:48:01 AM): ...*looks a bit concerned* Karl?
SongstressEnlil (7:48:27 AM): *On his knees and in tears, shuddering.*
Idran1701 (7:48:48 AM): ...*bending over, shaking him* Karl?!
SongstressEnlil (7:49:19 AM): They killed him!
Idran1701 (7:49:38 AM): ...What? Who killed...what is it, Karl?
SongstressEnlil (7:50:24 AM): *Takes a deep, and very shudder-filled breathe, and stands.* Y-you didn't feel any of that, did you?
Idran1701 (7:50:47 AM): ...*looks confused, worried* Apparantly not.
Idran1701 (7:51:07 AM): You...*looks over him as he stands*...you felt something?
SongstressEnlil (7:51:54 AM): *Nods, takes another breath to steady himself. After a few moments, he speaks.* I felt him die.
Idran1701 (7:52:06 AM): ...*quietly* The god?
SongstressEnlil (7:52:45 AM): Yes.
SongstressEnlil (7:53:12 AM): *Only now seems to realize he's leaning heavily on his staff.*
Idran1701 (7:54:09 AM): ...Are you...are you all right now?
SongstressEnlil (7:54:26 AM): I, I don't know.
Idran1701 (7:55:05 AM): ...I think...perhaps we should go. *takes a look around the trees surrounding them*
SongstressEnlil (7:55:43 AM): *Remembers something, and looks toward where the observer was. Is he still there?*
Idran1701 (7:56:06 AM): *he is, and he still watches them*
SongstressEnlil (7:57:51 AM): I want to talk to that person. *Nods toward observer.* I have to learn if he knows anything.
*Floats toward Observer at a a fairly slow speed, so as not to appear threatening*
Idran1701 (7:58:42 AM): *floats with Karl for a period, leaving the island, but remains behind once some distance is placed between the pair and it*
...I'll keep an eye out from...from here.
SongstressEnlil (7:59:04 AM): *Nods, and closes in on the observer.*
Idran1701 (7:59:18 AM): (Since we're getting close, want to pause here and pick it up later? :O)
SongstressEnlil (7:59:29 AM): (Okay)
Idran1701 (7:59:32 AM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (7:59:47 AM): (Also: Yay I made Karl cry :D)
SongstressEnlil (8:00:27 AM): (And a whole lot more before this is over. :D)
Idran1701 (8:00:31 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (8:00:54 AM): (When do you think you can get back on today?)
SongstressEnlil (8:01:41 AM): (Probably about the normal times; if nothing else, in the early AMs.)
Idran1701 (8:01:52 AM): (*nod* Nifty. Can't wait to pick it back up. :D)
SongstressEnlil (8:02:27 AM): (Actually, let me check on a few things)
Idran1701 (8:02:36 AM): (*nod* Sure.)
SongstressEnlil (8:04:46 AM): (Slow day, it seems. We still have an hour and a half)
Idran1701 (8:04:54 AM): (Oh, awesome.)
Idran1701 (8:05:00 AM): (Well then!)
SongstressEnlil (8:05:56 AM): IM: I don't think I've ever truly believes they did it. But, did they even know?
Idran1701 (8:06:28 AM): Karl floats forward...he begins to be able to make out a bit of detail on the observer. He appears human, but for the
hawk-like head he possesses. His garb is strange, and gives the sense of many centuries of history. He keeps utterly still, not even twitching as
Karl draws near.
SongstressEnlil (8:07:31 AM): Ah...*swallows*, Am I disturbing things?
SongstressEnlil (8:08:20 AM): *In other situations, he might stare at the head more. But he's got his mind full of other things right now.*
Idran1701 (8:08:33 AM): He speaks, possessing an oddly sonorous voice that somehow seems to echo in the void about them. The order of things
is still maintained.
Idran1701 (8:08:56 AM): You tread respectfully.
SongstressEnlil (8:09:57 AM): *Nods* I see. Do you know aanything about him? *Gestures toward the corpse* Tonbae?
Idran1701 (8:12:01 AM): (Slip of the memory that I just realized...*jackal-like head >_>)
Idran1701 (8:12:11 AM): (Got Thoth more often on the mind. :( )
SongstressEnlil (8:12:34 AM): (I was wondering if I recalled correctly)
Idran1701 (8:12:53 AM): I know of him as I know of all those under my watch.
Idran1701 (8:13:16 AM): His was a more sudden passing than most. His life still echoes strongly.
SongstressEnlil (8:14:01 AM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (8:15:04 AM): The Athar told me that without belief, a power cannot live. On Legunda, he is still remembered and still revered.
Idran1701 (8:17:04 AM): There is truth in their words. Though it is...not always sufficient to provide life to those of their nature.
Idran1701 (8:17:45 AM): Few care to acknowledge it, but at times, even the Gods may shudder in their steps.
SongstressEnlil (8:19:11 AM): *Nods*
IM: Should I mention the Impulses? Should I talk about the Heresy?
Idran1701 (8:20:17 AM): *he stands silent, seeming to stare into Karl's very core*
SongstressEnlil (8:20:34 AM): ...You know, don't you?
Idran1701 (8:21:39 AM): ...There are some matters of which I cannot speak. But I shall say...you are closer to the truth than you may think.
But you are farther than you may know.
SongstressEnlil (8:26:11 AM): *Some silence, then sounds almost defeated.* I see.
I just want to be able to comprehend, that is all. I'm not doing what they did, please understand this. *Looks toward the corpse again* I would never
seek to do that. It's... *words trail away.*
IM: The Trakainians wanted power, but I don't. Their designs and mine are not the same. They can't be!
Idran1701 (8:28:09 AM): ..."Knowledge for knowledge's sake". You remind me of one I once knew well.
You look into areas few mortals have the temerity to dream of. I know your goals well, yes.
Idran1701 (8:28:38 AM): But knowledge itself...it can be of great risk. As you are already well aware.
SongstressEnlil (8:28:52 AM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (8:30:22 AM): ...Know that your forebears...this was neither their desire.
SongstressEnlil (8:32:24 AM): *Nods again* I do not believe it so. But their goals were different.
IM: Yes, the Kazerian is different.
Idran1701 (8:33:58 AM): ...I can say little more myself. But you may find further answers you wish within the realm of concordant opposition.
Idran1701 (8:35:42 AM): Tread lightly on those who slumber, Questor, lest you awaken those who rest.
He seems to shimmer as the air over a fire, before vanishing from Karl's sight.
SongstressEnlil (8:36:17 AM): Wait!
SongstressEnlil (8:37:01 AM): *Closes his eyes, and takes another deep breath. Then returns to Coffinmaker.*
Idran1701 (8:38:00 AM): *he "stands" as Karl nears him, looking a bit spooked himself* ...What happened? Who...was it someone you knew?
SongstressEnlil (8:38:20 AM): I have no idea who it was. Did you overhear us?
Idran1701 (8:38:34 AM): *he shakes his head* Could barely see you from here.
Idran1701 (8:38:59 AM): Just saw him vanish all of a sudden.
SongstressEnlil (8:39:59 AM): *Nods* We spoke. He told me that the force which slew Tonbae was great enough to override the faith of Legunda.
SongstressEnlil (8:40:02 AM): (Brb)
SongstressEnlil is away at 8:40:08 AM.
SongstressEnlil (8:52:05 AM): (Back)
SongstressEnlil returned at 8:52:06 AM.
Idran1701 (8:52:08 AM): ...How did he know that? I thought most of your folk...well, stayed home...didn't see a cord either.
SongstressEnlil (8:53:26 AM): He seems to know a great deal about such things. He mentioned those under his watch, which I assume means... *looks
toward the corpse.*
Idran1701 (8:53:58 AM): ...*goes wide-eyed* Oh. That's...
SongstressEnlil (8:54:22 AM): Yes?
Idran1701 (8:55:21 AM): ...Well...someone watching over the godcorpses, must be a real high-up.
SongstressEnlil (8:55:34 AM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (8:55:54 AM): There's one more thing I want to do before we leave. Would you wait for me?
Idran1701 (8:56:25 AM): ...You're heading back to the...
SongstressEnlil (8:56:43 AM): *Nods* It's important.
Idran1701 (8:57:02 AM): ...Right. I'll wait here, then.
SongstressEnlil (8:58:58 AM): I'll try not to take long.
*Floats back toward the island, and settles on it. Assuming nothing happens, he'll kneel upon it.*
Idran1701 (8:59:34 AM): The island doesn't seem to react to his return, though the feeling returns, itching at the back of his head.
SongstressEnlil (9:09:15 AM): *Folds his hands, bows his head, and speaks softly.*
Lady Siglos, Lady Mauthe, it has been a long time since I've offered a prayer of any sort. I hope, and continue to hope, that my works and efforts have
served to work in your name where my attention has not. My focus has been shaken. Never have I truly imagined Trakain's work truly could have done
what I've witnessed this day. But I cannot stop. More than ever, I must understand what has done this, and how to keep it from ever happening again.
Lady Siglos, I ask that you grant me the capacity to understand and anticipate the ways of my research, to make correct assessments and proper
deductions and inductions from what I find. Lady Mauthe, I ask you grant me the instinct to understand the minute flows of these forces, and the ability to
work with them as to prevent such tradegy from ever repeating. May my effors honor both your names.
Idran1701 (9:12:04 AM): As he prays, the Coffinmaker watching from afar, there seems to be a minor lightening about him. Whether merely his
imagination, or a true reaction from the island beneath, he cannot say.
SongstressEnlil (9:14:23 AM): IM: May your rest be less troubled than your demise, Tonbae.
*Once done, he'll stand, and float back toward the Coffinmaker*
Idran1701 (9:14:54 AM): He looks to Karl as he approaches.
...Back to Sigil, then?
SongstressEnlil (9:15:40 AM): *Nods* Thank you for waiting on me.
Idran1701 (9:16:24 AM): *nods*
SongstressEnlil (9:16:44 AM): (And the line is needed, because Sarah can't tell time)
Idran1701 (9:16:49 AM): (Right. :O)
SongstressEnlil (9:16:54 AM): (But this should be a good cut off)
Idran1701 (9:17:09 AM): (Indeed. That's about it anyway. Last bit we can take care of later, but the important stuff's done. :D)
SongstressEnlil (9:17:53 AM): (::Nods:: Worse comes to worst, there's always Githyanki.)
Idran1701 (9:18:07 AM): (:D)
SongstressEnlil signed off at 9:20:20 AM.
SongstressEnlil signed on at 1:11:46 AM.
Idran1701 (1:24:15 AM): Nice timing on my part. :D
SongstressEnlil (1:24:29 AM): *Yes!*
Idran1701 (1:26:05 AM): So, you free to pick up the last bit of the sidequest?
SongstressEnlil (1:26:24 AM): *Aye*
Idran1701 (1:26:42 AM): *nod*
Idran1701 (1:26:54 AM): (All right, then!)
SongstressEnlil (1:27:20 AM): <Brick'd>
Idran1701 (1:29:40 AM): Karl and the Coffinmaker proceed on. They float through the astral for a number of hours; exactly how many, neither
could say.
Idran1701 (1:30:02 AM): But soon, the semi-familiar shape of the now-empty mausoleum shows itself to Karl.
SongstressEnlil (1:30:41 AM): *Has not been very good company.*
There. *Motions toward it.*
Idran1701 (1:30:51 AM): *nods*
Idran1701 (1:30:59 AM): *and nor has Coffinmaker*
Idran1701 (1:31:21 AM): The two make landfall on the small island upon which it sets.
Idran1701 (1:33:32 AM): Entering the mausoleum, they pass through the portal. In an instant, they find themselves within Sigil once more, as the
hunger, thirst, and exhaustion of the past...day?...catches up to Karl.
Idran1701 (1:34:18 AM): The room is dark, appearing not to have been used since their own departure days hence.
SongstressEnlil (1:37:16 AM): *Groans, and reaches for his waterskin. Also, pitch black?*
Idran1701 (1:37:43 AM): *dark, but not pitch*
Idran1701 (1:38:03 AM): *groans a bit himself* ...Plane gets to you, doesn't it?
SongstressEnlil (1:39:28 AM): Quite so. The true downside being that we aren't necessarily in the best ward for dining.
*Ker-drink!*
Idran1701 (1:40:20 AM): *chuckles a bit* That is a little unfortunate.
SongstressEnlil (1:41:15 AM): *Starts picking his way out of the darkened room.*
Idran1701 (1:42:03 AM): Coffinmaker follows afterwards, and the two make their way to the door, stepping out. Down the hallway, a Dustman
stands, glancing over at their emergence and looking a bit surprised as he approaches.
Idran1701 (1:42:09 AM): (Not a familiar one, as far as Karl can tell.)
SongstressEnlil (1:43:15 AM): Excuse me, sir. We just came in from the portal in there, and are a little lost.
Idran1701 (1:44:16 AM): *slightly monotone* ...That preparation room leads to the Astral. You would not have found the portal if you did not know of the
existence of the far end.
SongstressEnlil (1:46:09 AM): *Nods* This is so. I meant that I am unsure how to leave the mortuary. I was paying respect to a fallen power, and
believed that with such use in mind, it would alright to return this way.
Idran1701 (1:46:53 AM): *slightly suspicious glance to the pair* I see. How did you come to know of this portal?
SongstressEnlil (1:47:48 AM): I had been contracted by Nicolas earlier to deal with, ah, a remiss contract holder who had hidden on the Astral Plane.
Idran1701 (1:52:18 AM): ...Ah. Yes, I had heard of that. In fact, the success in that matter seems to have...impressed our superiors. Nicolas has been
advanced to the Fourth Circle, and transfered to our citadel within the realm of Negative Energy.
SongstressEnlil (1:53:05 AM): *raises an eyebrow* Interesting.
Idran1701 (1:53:54 AM): He moves ever closer to the True Death through his actions on our behalf.
SongstressEnlil (1:55:39 AM): *Nods* Is that so?
IM: Was he really obsessing over that contract so much?
Idran1701 (1:57:02 AM): Indeed. It must be so, or he would not have been gifted with such.
SongstressEnlil (1:58:25 AM): *Nods* I am pleased to hear he is doing well, and that I was able to assist a little in his good fortune. However, I feel I am
taking up a bit more of your time than I should.
Idran1701 (1:59:17 AM): Indeed. If you may give your name as well? I...apologize for my wariness, but we have had a minor security problem in the
recent past.
SongstressEnlil (1:59:34 AM): *Nods* Karl Hendrick.
Idran1701 (2:00:12 AM): *nods* And your friend?
Idran1701 (2:00:40 AM): Ah, I was...I wasn't involved with that. But I'm sure that Karl would be happy to vouch for me...er, you would, wouldn't you?
SongstressEnlil (2:01:56 AM): *Nods* He was accompanying me on my pilgrimage to the power's resting place.
Idran1701 (2:02:13 AM): *nods*
Idran1701 (2:02:53 AM): I see. Well, I shall at the least have your name verified. Follow me.
*he walks off, slowly and deliberately, down the hallway*
SongstressEnlil (2:03:11 AM): *Follows.*
Idran1701 (2:03:21 AM): *as does CM*
Idran1701 (2:03:49 AM): *the Dustman stops briefly, leaving a note with a courier zombie and sending it onwards before resuming the walk through the
hallways of the Mortuary*
Idran1701 (2:07:20 AM): *the two are led to a small room, not far from the entrance area if Karl's memory is accurate*
Idran1701 (2:07:57 AM): *they have a very brief wait, before the courier zombie returns* ...Yes, your name and description does appear accurate. I shall
show you to the exit.
SongstressEnlil (2:09:11 AM): Thank you.
IM: I wonder what they would have done otherwise?
Idran1701 (2:10:04 AM): *he nods, and brings them on a brief walk to the front archway of the massive building*
Idran1701 (2:10:22 AM): *watching the two silently, he opens the door, allowing them exit*
SongstressEnlil (2:11:15 AM): *Nods politely to the dustie, and makes to leave, unless Coffinmaker is going to try to make a sales pitch.*
Idran1701 (2:12:17 AM): ...Ah, you know, I actually...
*silent stare*
I had an interest in...in arranging some sort of...of business arrangement with you. I am always in need of further bodies for my work...legitimately
obtained, of course. And...well, this seems like...like the perfect spot to arrange something like that.
If there was someone I could...I could contact? About that?
Idran1701 (2:13:39 AM): *stares just long enough to make him a slight bit uncomfortable before replying* ...Send a response to factotum Sharlis here. She
shall consider your request.
Idran1701 (2:13:53 AM): ...Right. Sharlis, of course, yes. I'll...I'll do that, thank you.
SongstressEnlil (2:14:20 AM): How would one contact factotum Sharlis??
SongstressEnlil (2:14:24 AM): *?
Idran1701 (2:16:10 AM): Merely dispatching a letter to this location and addressing it to her would be sufficient. *looks to CM* Though if you would
choose to use a mephit messenger, we would prefer- Yes, I can...I can guess. *nods* Certainly, that's...that'll be fine.
Idran1701 (2:16:39 AM): *he nods* And if there is nothing further?
Idran1701 (2:20:49 AM): *shakes his head* No, I can't...I can't think of anything. Karl?
SongstressEnlil (2:21:29 AM): *Shakes his head*
Idran1701 (2:22:14 AM): *nods, and stands aside from the front entrance, as CM steps out and towards the gates*
SongstressEnlil (2:22:27 AM): *Likewise*
Idran1701 (2:23:10 AM): *once out past the gates and beyond the guards* ...Well, that went...well...I suppose. Hope they take me up on my
offer...always easier to go through the authorities for things like this.
SongstressEnlil (2:25:02 AM): *Nods* I am a little surprised you didn't try to meet with the factotum now.
SongstressEnlil (2:25:15 AM): *Heads toward the obelisk.*
Idran1701 (2:25:35 AM): *follows* Oh, no, I'm not...I'm not meeting with anyone until I get a good meal in me. *chuckles*
Idran1701 (2:26:05 AM): Want to be at my best, after all.
Idran1701 (2:26:14 AM): PRobably a night's sleep too.
SongstressEnlil (2:26:19 AM): Fair enough.
SongstressEnlil (2:26:53 AM): If you wish to run ahead to meet with Lilium, the meeting place should be the <Dragon Name> Inn.
Idran1701 (2:27:07 AM): (Dragon's Vault. :D)
SongstressEnlil (2:27:31 AM): (I knew I had forgotten it.)
Idran1701 (2:27:34 AM): (Though at least you didn't say Green Dragon this time!)
SongstressEnlil (2:27:50 AM): (Almost said Roaring Dragon)
Idran1701 (2:27:56 AM): (Ah, right, that's it.)
Idran1701 (2:28:08 AM): (You should stick a post-it to your screen or something. :D)
Idran1701 (2:28:22 AM): *nods* Right. How's the food there?
SongstressEnlil (2:29:06 AM): It's quite good, I think. Usually, it's not very busy, either.
Idran1701 (2:29:34 AM): *nods* All right. Well, I appreciate the escort, Karl. I shall likely see you again shortly!
SongstressEnlil (2:29:51 AM): *Nods* Until then!
Idran1701 (2:31:34 AM): *and he departs down the road, to seek out the inn*
SongstressEnlil (2:31:53 AM): *Toward the obelisk!*
Idran1701 (2:32:50 AM): *the obelisk appears much as it was at the last visit, with the strange golem still standing watch, and a small handful of mourners
about*
SongstressEnlil (2:33:20 AM): *Approaches the Golem* I would like to record a name.
Idran1701 (2:33:50 AM): *it stares down* SPEAK THE NAME.
SongstressEnlil (2:34:01 AM): Tonbae.
Idran1701 (2:34:17 AM): ...THAT ONE IS YET UNRECORDED. ITS NAME SHALL BE INTERRED.
Idran1701 (2:34:42 AM): *the golem moves unhaltingly to a segment of the monument, beginning its writing upon the rock wall*
Idran1701 (2:36:06 AM): *soon, the work is done, and Karl can see the god's name emblazoned upon the wall with the many others who have
since passed*
Idran1701 (2:36:42 AM): *the golem returns to its position, standing a silent watch once more*
SongstressEnlil (2:37:45 AM): IM: That's a start, I suppose.
SongstressEnlil (2:38:22 AM): *Moves on, heading in the general direct of the lower ward, keeping an eye open for a tout who doesn't look like he'll knife
Karl for a few coppers.
On that subject, how much money does Karl have?*
Idran1701 (2:39:00 AM): (He was down to 8 gold before, he knows, before getting the payment; 400, it was supposed to be.)
SongstressEnlil (2:39:19 AM): (*Nods*)
Idran1701 (2:43:28 AM): *after a brief look about, Karl finds one who looks trustworthy enough; though it's a bit hard to tell in this area, of
course*
Idran1701 (2:43:34 AM): (Where's he headed? :O)
SongstressEnlil (2:44:35 AM): (Direction-wise, toward the Lower Ward, as it's safer. Goal-wise, toward Fell's place, though he has no clue how to get
there. But he figures the Lower Ward is better than the Hive.)
Idran1701 (2:44:54 AM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (2:46:12 AM): *As well known a personage as Fell is, the tout has no problem leading Karl through the Lower Ward towards his
shop, located along Redwind Road within the Market Ward. It's a quick trip, with no hassle and a minimum of trouble from the tout.*
Idran1701 (2:46:28 AM): *Just the occasional Clueless-teasing, not much else.*
SongstressEnlil (2:49:04 AM): *Karl will try to take it with good humor, and osmose some educations from it.
Once the shop is reached, the tout will be paid off, with a ten percent tip if Karl has the proper coins onhand to do so. No reason not to have a good rep
with the people who guide you. Then he'll head inside.*
Idran1701 (2:50:28 AM): *the tout, as strange a practice as it seems to him, is happy to "make change" to recieve a nice tip, Karl paying 4
silver 4 copper in all*
Idran1701 (2:51:30 AM): *Inside, Karl sees a number of images on the walls about them, various designs for sale. As the bell rings on his
entry, the landbound dabus steps out from the back, smiling to Karl, images flashing above his head as he gestures to a small book near the
door, should he need it.*
Idran1701 (2:53:20 AM): (d20 if Karl's going to try interpreting it himself.)
SongstressEnlil (2:54:20 AM): (6)
Idran1701 (2:55:46 AM): "Ah, greetings and welcome to my humble shop. Please feel free to make use of the phrasebook at your left if you
must."
SongstressEnlil (2:56:31 AM): *Nods* Thank you, sir. Are you particularly busy at the moment?
Idran1701 (2:56:54 AM): (I'm just going to keep the 6, to keep from slowing things up too much. :O)
SongstressEnlil (2:57:41 AM): (*Nods* We'lll say he'll peek at the phrasebook periodically)
Idran1701 (2:57:47 AM): "I am always free for a new customer. Please, sit, tell me what you would like."
Idran1701 (2:57:48 AM): (*nod*)
SongstressEnlil (2:58:44 AM): I have some questions. But, I would be willing to compensate you for your time.
Idran1701 (2:59:07 AM): ?
SongstressEnlil (2:59:41 AM): *Shows the enchanted Trakaini ring that he is wearing* Is this symbol familiar to you?
Idran1701 (3:02:21 AM): *he looks over the symbol, appearing thoughtful* "It is not, no. Do you wish this design upon yourself?"
SongstressEnlil (3:04:56 AM): *Shakes his head* No. This is a symbol from an empire that once existed upon the prime mataerial world from which I
have come. The reason I am asking you about it is because I have found mention, in the journal of one of their prophets, of a pact with Aoskar.
Idran1701 (3:07:45 AM): *he blinks, a look of surprise passing over his face* "I do not know if you understand how unwise it is to speak of
such things in public, sir."
*there's a slight splash, as a bit of dew falls upon the floor below*
SongstressEnlil (3:09:00 AM): I would be pleased to find somewhere less public, then.
Idran1701 (3:11:19 AM): *a pause, as Fell moves to grab a bit of parchment from a nearby countertop* "There is a curiosity shop, D'Niven's
Goods, not far from here. Arrive tonight, and present this."
Idran1701 (3:11:23 AM): *holding the parchment, he manifests his personal symbol, imprinting it onto the paper's surface*
SongstressEnlil (3:11:49 AM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (3:12:15 AM): "And do not speak of this to another."
SongstressEnlil (3:12:40 AM): *Takes the parchment in hand.* No one else shall know.
Idran1701 (3:13:21 AM): *nods, his face losing its serious cast as he grins once more*
"Now, if you have no true need of my services?"
SongstressEnlil (3:14:44 AM): I'm afraid not, at the moment. I've never been one for such art.
Idran1701 (3:15:21 AM): "Ah, a shame. If you know of any who may have interest, be certain to refer them here."
SongstressEnlil (3:15:39 AM): Of course. It is the least I could do. Thank you for your time, and your trust.
Idran1701 (3:16:05 AM): "It was a pleasure. Perhaps we shall meet again." *his eyes gleam a bit with amusement*
SongstressEnlil (3:16:31 AM): *Nods* Perhaps.
SongstressEnlil (3:17:23 AM): *Makes his way out, and toward any interesting restaurants or pubs. But if he can find that curious shop along the way, all
the better. But for now, he's put off food for far too long.*
Idran1701 (3:18:21 AM): </RP?>
Idran1701 (3:19:02 AM): (He finds it easily enough as he hunts for a good place to eat, by the way.)
SongstressEnlil (3:19:23 AM): (If you wanna drop it off here, sure. I can carry on with no troubles, though)
Idran1701 (3:20:28 AM): (Session tonight's going to be set today as well, so it depends on if you'd have Karl meet up with the others before the
meeting tonight or not. :O)
Idran1701 (3:21:04 AM): (Maybe let them know about what he's found out so far; Bytopia, the Bleak Abyss, etc.)_
SongstressEnlil (3:21:05 AM): (He wouldn't. It's easier to explain away one long disappearance than two shorter ones)
Idran1701 (3:21:09 AM): (*nod* Kay.)
Idran1701 (3:22:07 AM): (Anything else he'd be doing before the meeting, then?)
SongstressEnlil (3:22:47 AM): (Depends on how long until nightfall)
Idran1701 (3:24:07 AM): (About 4 or 5 hours, apparantly. Though that's just from asking around; he's still not familiar enough with Sigil to
say, and one level of strange sourceless glow is the same as another to him.)
SongstressEnlil (3:27:08 AM): (He'd ask whilst dining.
If he felt there was enough time, he'd visit the Shattered Temple, to ID Tonbae's corpse, and ask about the jackal-headed one)
Idran1701 (3:29:35 AM): (There is; the jackal-headed one is known as the Guardian of the Dead. He's a strange being that watches over the
godcorpses, and is said to sit in his throne somewhere in the astral and record his thoughts on the nature of death in an ancient tome. He
rarely shows if it isn't a matter of risk to one of the godcorpses. That's all most anyone knows of him, though, and all he can find out from
the Temple.)
Idran1701 (3:30:59 AM): (Sidenote:While he's heading through the Slags to the Temple, he gets the strange feeling of being watched from
somewhere in the rubble around the area, but he can't pinpoint it.)
SongstressEnlil (3:32:19 AM): (He'd do some searching for it, but not extensively.)
Idran1701 (3:33:08 AM): (*nod* Anyway, if there wouldn't be anything else before he heads to the meetingplace? :O)
SongstressEnlil (3:34:00 AM): (Unlikely, if he had time after that, he'd browse around the nearby shops to pass the time, unless he finds another public
archive.)
Idran1701 (3:35:33 AM): (Hmm. Gimme a d20.)
Idran1701 (3:35:43 AM): (...Actually, be right back, then I'll handle that and the rest of stuff.)
SongstressEnlil (3:35:47 AM): (9)
Idran1701 (3:43:57 AM): (No luck with another public archive, nope. Thus!)
Idran1701 (3:44:59 AM): "Night" falls, and Karl finds himself at D'Niven's Goods. He knocks on the door, as a gruff voice speaks from
within. 'Ey! Go on, we're closed for th' night.
SongstressEnlil (3:45:21 AM): I have something to show you, before I go.
Idran1701 (3:45:42 AM): Eh?
SongstressEnlil (3:46:11 AM): A parchment, sir, with a symbol on it.
Idran1701 (3:47:21 AM): *curtains on the door are drawn back slightly, enough so to let a fellow peek through at Karl* What parchment?
SongstressEnlil (3:48:31 AM): *Hands it to him*
Idran1701 (3:49:51 AM): ...Hmph. *nods, opening the door enough to let him through* Stairs in the back.
SongstressEnlil (3:50:40 AM): Thank you. *walks in, and heads for the stairs, taking a cursory look about the store and his host.*
Idran1701 (3:53:03 AM): *The store itself looks fairly unnotable...unnotable for Sigil, that is. Curios and knick knacks line the walls, with small placards
marking their identities and a brief backstory.
Taking a look at the fellow at the door, he's surprisingly wiry-looking, not nearly as gruff as his voice'd suggest. There's barely a touch of muscle definition
to him, though he looks to be at least in his late 20s.*
Idran1701 (3:56:22 AM): *In the back and downstairs, things look a bit more interesting. Banners are seen all about with a symbol that Karl recognizes
from his research as that of the Sign of One, one of the factions of Sigil. There's a slight murmuring from the room ahead, down the small hallway, though
it's surprisingly quiet.
The reason of that soon makes itself apparant as KArl enters, however, spotting Fell on a small platform at the fore of the room, his rebus-speak flashing
by rapidly.*
Idran1701 (3:56:59 AM): *With his lack of familiarity, he can barely get a handle on what the dabus is saying, but the general gist seems to be a sermon on
the merits and glory of Aoskar.*
SongstressEnlil (3:57:50 AM): IM: My.
*Makes himself comfortable, if there are seats to be had.*
SongstressEnlil (3:58:42 AM): *Then he'll try to divine what he can from the sermon*
Idran1701 (4:01:45 AM): *A number of folks wearing faction colors for the Signers can be seen sitting in the seats as well, though some seem to be wearing
various disguises to cloak their true appearance. A small impish creature, looking strangely...angular...can be seen at the foot of the platform, watching the
sermon intently and apparantly making notes on what is said.*
Idran1701 (4:01:57 AM): (Gimme another d20 for the sermon gleaning. :O)
SongstressEnlil (4:02:20 AM): (3)
Idran1701 (4:03:29 AM): *The current sermon seems to be an excerpt from the holy writings of Aoskar, a tale from before his fall of one of his followers on
a pilgrimage throughout the planes.*
Idran1701 (4:04:35 AM): *Spreading the knowledge of Aoskar throughout many lands in the multiverse, and discovering greater insight into the nature of
the portals, gateways, and conduits that the great deity created (according to Fell) for the pleasure of all.*
Idran1701 (4:05:45 AM): *There's a small clatter as a knife falls to the ground, manifested from his words by Fell's obvious joy and exhuberance on this
topic.*
SongstressEnlil (4:07:16 AM): IM: Ah. So what where it came from. I wonder if this pilgrim found Trakain?
Idran1701 (4:09:24 AM): *The sermon seems to be slowing, the images coming more slowly now.*
"And now we shall have a brief pause, to allow consideration on the words I have given to you. We shall resume the teachings in 30
minutes."
Idran1701 (4:11:01 AM): *the discussion picks up amongst the visitors, with Karl catching a few snatches here and there...matters of concern
to the Signers, though the talk seems a bit...subdued as some folks glance to the outsider in their midst.*
Idran1701 (4:11:41 AM): *meanwhile, Fell catches sight of Karl's presence as he takes a small rest, gesturing for him to come meet him*
SongstressEnlil (4:12:01 AM): *Stands up, and makes his way over.*
Idran1701 (4:13:15 AM): "Ah, I'm glad to see your presence here."
SongstressEnlil (4:14:01 AM): *Nods* I thank you for inviting me.
Idran1701 (4:15:10 AM): *grins* "I am always glad to speak on His majesty. When I can do so without risk to others, of course."
SongstressEnlil (4:15:55 AM): I understand. I hope I didn't put you into a bad position earlier.
Idran1701 (4:19:14 AM): "Oh, certainly not. I was worried more for your own well-being than my own. There are many who wish not to
discuss Aoskar, given past events within. And should someone have overheard you that disliked what he was hearing, you may have put
yourself into a bit of risk."
SongstressEnlil (4:20:11 AM): *Nods* I am hoping that the nature of my interest will help deflect too much suspicion from me.
Idran1701 (4:21:14 AM): *he nods, while Karl can note that small fellow hovering about at the edge of the platform quietly*
SongstressEnlil (4:21:44 AM): IM: I wonder if he's Fell's assistant?
Idran1701 (4:22:53 AM): "You said something of a pact on your world? It is rare that I hear of Aoskar's presence upon the Prime, especially
in these times. Please, elaborate."
SongstressEnlil (4:25:45 AM): In my world's past, there was a great empire called Trakain, which was known for, among other things, as a haven for
learning and magic. It met a rather tragic fate, one that left a long-lasting scar upon the world; one so dire that it slew the deity which embodied the world.
Idran1701 (4:26:12 AM): *he nods* "Go on."
SongstressEnlil (4:27:27 AM): As such, there is a lot of this empire that has been lost. While exploring it's ruins, though, I have come upon a journal
belonging to a prophet, named Sventrath. Here, I'll read the relevant passage to you.
*He'll produce the journal, seek the passage, and translate it for Fell.*
Idran1701 (4:29:20 AM): *he nods, listening to Karl's translation* "I see. Intriguing, I have never heard of any such pact."
Idran1701 (4:30:41 AM): "The time following my own induction was...brief. I wished to study the history of the faith in greater detail than the
general overview I was taught, but I had not the time."
SongstressEnlil (4:33:06 AM): *Nods* That is a shame. My hope was that you might be able to educate me a bit more on the faith's heirarchy and
relations other political entities, so that I could begin to track down more about this pact.
Idran1701 (4:35:35 AM): "There was little hierarchy. The faith was much a traveling one, gathering at times at places of great import, but
largely nomadic. The great Temple here was the first such for His followers...the only such, as far as I am aware, though it is possible
others beyond Sigil created their own."
Idran1701 (4:36:10 AM): "For this same reason, there was little relation with other political entities. They had as much association with the
governments of others as a wandering ministrel clan might."
Idran1701 (4:36:22 AM): "This is one reason why the destruction of the Temple was such a great blow to our faith."
SongstressEnlil (4:36:28 AM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (4:37:03 AM): "But if this empire made a pact with Aoskar's faith..."
Idran1701 (4:37:10 AM): "Allow me to think."
SongstressEnlil (4:37:20 AM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (4:39:19 AM): I had imagined that the main troupe of the faith would have a number of agreements with the various lands that they visited;
if only due to the size and the presence of Aoskar himself. That seems a rather large thing to overlook. Then again, I may be thinking of things in too much
of a Prime Material sense.
Idran1701 (4:40:09 AM): "Indeed, if Aoskar had traveled in his full glory."
Idran1701 (4:41:01 AM): "But he prefered to cloak himself, so as to better understand the nature of those who followed him."
SongstressEnlil (4:41:53 AM): *raises an eyebrow* Is that common for powers? As much as anything can be common for them, I mean?
SongstressEnlil (4:42:11 AM): (I WILL RETURN)
SongstressEnlil is away at 4:42:17 AM.
SongstressEnlil returned at 5:00:12 AM.
Idran1701 (5:00:26 AM): "I can speak little on the nature of other powers, but from what I understand, it is fairly uncommon. But Aoskar...he
was neither of sphere nor of group. He was one alone, and thus he drew from his people as much as they drew of him."
SongstressEnlil (5:00:34 AM): (SEE!)
Idran1701 (5:00:41 AM): (NO I AM BLIND YOU JERK >:)
SongstressEnlil (5:00:43 AM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (5:00:53 AM): (HAHA)
Idran1701 (5:02:20 AM): "If a pact was made with him, it was more than likely recorded within the Temple's archives. But of course, there are
no records surviving today from the Temple itself."
Idran1701 (5:02:55 AM): "However..."
Idran1701 (5:04:01 AM): "...there are a number of sites through the planes. Places that use the greatest of magics."
Idran1701 (5:04:34 AM): "Locations whose goal it is to collect the whole of knowledge. The entirety of written contracts. All that which is
spoken. Things of this nature."
Idran1701 (5:04:54 AM): "It seems to be a common goal amongst many who delve into the depths of learning."
SongstressEnlil (5:05:10 AM): Intriguing.
Idran1701 (5:07:10 AM): "One of these locations may help you. They are difficult to find, with their own hazards, their own obstacles. But I
can offer you the first step. Granting you the portal that may lead you near your destination, as it were."
Idran1701 (5:08:29 AM): *he frowns lightly, a slightly pained look upon his face* "In my...earlier days, my service was most often given at the
Great Library. It is little known in Sigil, an institution that attempts to keep a record of information untainted by the bias of the factions."
Idran1701 (5:08:42 AM): "Thus few care to learn of its existence."
SongstressEnlil (5:09:32 AM): That would be their loss. I, on the other hand, care quite a bit about its existence.
Idran1701 (5:11:16 AM): *he nods* "A tower, stretching tall in the...noble ward. Managed by those who serve the city. Where Rose Street
meets Deva Lane."
SongstressEnlil (5:12:11 AM): *::Nods::*
Idran1701 (5:12:24 AM): (Haha reflexive colons.)
Idran1701 (5:13:22 AM): "There perhaps you can find one of these locations, learn what you may seek. And please, if you learn more, I would
be honored by your return to my shop."
SongstressEnlil (5:15:35 AM): *Nods* Alright. I'll go investigate this right now. Can you give me directions to the Noble's Ward?
IM: I hadn't even thought that mentioning her name around him would be bad form...
Idran1701 (5:19:11 AM): "It is nearby. Travel along the ring anti-clockwise for perhaps half of an hour, and you shall find yourself within the
ward. From there, finding the Library should be a simple matter."
Idran1701 (5:19:49 AM): "You would do well to not mention my name there, I warn."
SongstressEnlil (5:20:17 AM): *Nods* Of course.
SongstressEnlil (5:20:57 AM): It has been a pleasure, Fell. Thank you for your assistance.
*Makes his way out.*
Idran1701 (5:21:20 AM): *he nods, smiling a bit more now and waving to Karl as he departs*
SongstressEnlil (5:24:01 AM): *Once he's out, he'll start toward the Lady's Ward, with a somewhat more hurried pace than usual.*
IM: I hope they don't mind someone coming this late.
Idran1701 (5:25:40 AM): *Karl hurries along, few people out on the streets at this hour to get in his way. As he nears the Lady's Ward, he
notes increasingly more common red-armored patrols, but none seem concerned by his appearance of actions; sometimes it's nice to be
able to carry oneself as an academic rather than a merc.*
Idran1701 (5:25:47 AM): **or*
Idran1701 (5:26:53 AM): *After an hour's travel and hunting, he finds what seems to be the tower in question. No sign, no notice of what is
within, but it is at the location Fell mentioned.*
SongstressEnlil (5:27:44 AM): *Is there a door? And if so, is it one of the kind that invite the public inside, or the sort that seems one should knock on it?*
Idran1701 (5:28:22 AM): *There is a door, and it seems to be the former type.*
SongstressEnlil (5:28:44 AM): *He'll walk inside.*
Idran1701 (5:29:50 AM): *Inside, things look...familiar. Even moreso than in Delon. It looks much as the libraries from home, with the
exception of the fellow at the front desk being a Dabus. He watches Karl as the sage enters the building, floating silent as they do.*
Idran1701 (5:30:08 AM): (d20. :O)
SongstressEnlil (5:30:20 AM): (11)
Idran1701 (5:31:05 AM): *the exhaustion seems to be catching up with him, as he's having a slightly harder time following this one's
rebus-speak*
Idran1701 (5:31:21 AM): *he greets Karl, and he seems to be saying something about a fee for use of the facilities*
SongstressEnlil (5:31:32 AM): How much?
Idran1701 (5:31:43 AM): 1 O
SongstressEnlil (5:32:22 AM): IM: I wonder if Fell speaks a different dialect? Or uses more slang?
*Produces a gold coin*
Idran1701 (5:33:14 AM): *nodding, he takes the coin, and gestures for Karl to enter the tower proper, welcoming him to the library*
Idran1701 (5:33:49 AM): *beyond the desk is a massive open level with hundreds of tomes, scrolls, and books upon shelves, and a single spiral
staircase going upwards through the center of the tower*
SongstressEnlil (5:35:12 AM): Thank you.
*Makes his way inside, and begins to try to get a sense of how everything is organized, then home in things that seem to pertain to dealings with Aoskar
or Trakain/Legunda.*
Idran1701 (5:36:43 AM): (Since I don't have all of my notes handy here at home, I'll have to do a bit of research myself on some topics
potentially, so I'll go over what I can while here and note everything I can't for getting back to you later.)
SongstressEnlil (5:37:06 AM): (Roit)
Idran1701 (5:37:30 AM): *On the topic of the former, there is predictably nothing anywhere in the library Karl can find even touching on the
topic. It seems this institution may not be as free from bias as it claims.*
Idran1701 (5:38:05 AM): *On the latter, he finds a few works on major empires and political bodies of the Prime, but Trakain doesn't seem to
be mentioned as one of them.*
SongstressEnlil (5:39:09 AM): (Karl: Suel? Baklunish? Bah, the Rain of Colorless Fire has nothing on what Trakain did.)
Idran1701 (5:39:51 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (5:40:04 AM): (I'm sure he'd love to hear about the Mythals, though. :D)
SongstressEnlil (5:40:48 AM): *He'll expand out a bit on Aoskar, looking for things that relate to pacts between deities' realms and other entities, and data
on wandering powers in general.*
Idran1701 (5:43:05 AM): *He has more success in this area, coming up with a good amount of information on the latter, and a few notes on
treaties and diplomatic efforts in the former. Ghetto actually comes up a bit in that topic, in fact, with mentions of the various treaties
between Meriavar's followers and the other bodies of note within Arcadia.*
SongstressEnlil (5:44:56 AM): *Nothing relating to Aoskar, however?*
Idran1701 (5:46:02 AM): *Nope, but he hasn't found any works that would even be old enough to deal with Aoskar as a live faith, which might
be part of the reason.*
SongstressEnlil (5:47:05 AM): *Has he noticed any place where older works may be sequestered?*
Idran1701 (5:48:50 AM): *Oh, there are older works intermixed here and there that he's spotted while browsing on these subjects. But none
on these topics that would be quite that old; that's a few centuries hence, after all.*
Idran1701 (5:49:39 AM): (And if he'd be interested in non-Aoskar specifics as well, that's something I can research up for you.)
SongstressEnlil (5:51:39 AM): *Would this be from appearance alone, or from checking dates when given on possibly-recopied works?*
Idran1701 (5:56:06 AM): *From both, really. Looking at the condition of the books, and checking dates on a few. The oldest religion texts
here don't seem to be more than maybe 75 years or so, if he understands the calendar system in Sigil correctly.*
SongstressEnlil (5:57:31 AM): *Another branch-off: Dead Powers and their history. He's hoping a generalized work will provide what specific ones do
not.*
Idran1701 (5:59:13 AM): *This, he finds easily! Three works on the topic, discussing the background of an assortment of perished powers.
...With a number of pages magically blanked in each.*
SongstressEnlil (6:00:54 AM): IM: Well now.
SongstressEnlil (6:01:11 AM): *Once he finds one with a sizable field of blankness, he'll approach the Dabus at the counter, assuming there isn't a more
approach-seeming Dabus to talk with on the matter of the books.*
Idran1701 (6:01:45 AM): *There are a couple keeping things organized on the shelves, yes.*
SongstressEnlil (6:02:40 AM): Excuse me. I've encountered a small problem with a couple of the works here.
Idran1701 (6:03:00 AM): (d20 for this fellow. :D)
SongstressEnlil (6:03:31 AM): (6)
Idran1701 (6:03:58 AM): "What sort of problem?"
SongstressEnlil (6:04:50 AM): *Shows the blanked out section.* I think this book, and several others, have been tampered with.
Idran1701 (6:05:21 AM): *he looks over it* "And?"
SongstressEnlil (6:06:48 AM): Isn't it a concern in and of itself?
Idran1701 (6:08:19 AM): "If the topic is not present, then it is not of importance."
SongstressEnlil (6:09:54 AM): Ah. Perhaps you can help me, then? I've not been having much luck.
Idran1701 (6:10:21 AM): "With what do you require aid?"
SongstressEnlil (6:11:19 AM): I am looking for information on a fallen power, so that I may bring his lesser known crimes to light.
Idran1701 (6:11:36 AM): "What power?"
SongstressEnlil (6:12:31 AM): Aoskar. I believe he is behind the murder of the power that embodies my homeworld, and I wish to find evidence to prove
this.
Idran1701 (6:12:46 AM): "There is no power by that name."
SongstressEnlil (6:13:53 AM): *Nods* I have heard he met a just demise.
Idran1701 (6:14:51 AM): "I know not of what you speak. There is and has been no power by that name."
SongstressEnlil (6:15:56 AM): *Nods* I see. Perhaps it was a pseudonym used by the people of my world.
Idran1701 (6:16:36 AM): "Do you wish aid on any other topic of note?"
SongstressEnlil (6:17:17 AM): Not immediately. But I shall ask if it is required.
Idran1701 (6:17:33 AM): *he nods, and returns to his work*
Idran1701 (6:18:11 AM): *It would seem that though vast, this is not the spot for researching Aoskar directly. Thus, are there any other topics
Karl may wish to investigate on his own here?*
SongstressEnlil (6:19:51 AM): *He'll make one last try, and see what he can find on the Shattered Temple. In particular, what was there before it was
shattered, and records of events in that neighborhood.*
Idran1701 (6:20:25 AM): *He can find reference to before the Temple was constructed...and after its destruction. But nothing between.*
Idran1701 (6:20:42 AM): *Again, he encounters a number of magically-blanked areas in texts where the relevant information might be found.*
Idran1701 (6:20:54 AM): *However, he does get the titles of the texts; perhaps other spots may have unaltered copies.*
SongstressEnlil (6:22:38 AM): *He shall do so, also noting previous blanked texts that he had found.*
SongstressEnlil (6:23:52 AM): *Can he tell if they've been subjected to something similiar to his erase spell, or is it akin to blacking out text and possibly
removable?*
Idran1701 (6:24:17 AM): *The former, unfortunately. It seems whoever did it didn't care much for the integrity of a work.*
SongstressEnlil (6:26:13 AM): *Next: He'll see if they have anything on Emirikol; hopefully a copy of the text from which Question originated (As in a
non-magical non-spellbook copy)*
Idran1701 (6:27:54 AM): *Here, he actually gets lucky. What he found before is confirmed; Emerikol was a wild mage hailing from the Prime
world of Mystara. In a great magical battle, he was said to have been killed, his tower on that world surrounded by a whirling field of chaos
magics and no longer able to be reached.*
Idran1701 (6:28:20 AM): *The Question itself was a minor spell he created as part of his desires in the pursuit of knowledge.*
Idran1701 (6:29:19 AM): *He was a fairly skilled mage at the time of his demise, and because of the circumstances about his death, not much
is known about exactly what occured, nor are many details known of his assailant.*
Idran1701 (6:32:17 AM): *Before his death, though, he was one of the premiere mages in the field of wild magic, ranking with Hornung and
Nahal. (Names not recognized by Karl, but apparantly the first to develop the field.) An even more impressive feat, considering wild magic
wasn't a concept native to his world.
In fact, Emerikol would likely be Karl's first exposure to the concept; harnessing chaos purposefully for the usage of magic?*
SongstressEnlil (6:33:19 AM): (I was under the impression he had some idea about wild magic from home; as there was no implied confusion about such
things)
Idran1701 (6:33:41 AM): (Ah, right. Fair enough.)
Idran1701 (6:34:00 AM): (It probably would have been developed by that country that lives in the Distortion, come to think of it.)
SongstressEnlil (6:35:04 AM): (*Nods*
I imagined it would be a very forbidden thing; with few sufficiently educated enough to distinguish it from Trakaini magic.)
Idran1701 (6:35:15 AM): (*nod* Makes sense. We'll go with that, then. :D)
SongstressEnlil (6:35:25 AM): (And fewer who would care)
SongstressEnlil (6:35:59 AM): *Is he able to find the name of Emirikol's book directly?*
Idran1701 (6:36:30 AM): *He is!*
Idran1701 (6:37:01 AM): (But I do not have it handy, so that's something I'll get back to you with.)
SongstressEnlil (6:37:43 AM): *Also, is he able to find any information on the region around Emirikol's tower? In particular: It's name, and known events
to happen in the chaotic region.*
Idran1701 (6:39:11 AM): (Again, that's a success that I'll need to get back to you on. :O
From memory, though, I believe it's much more obviously tangible than the Distortion; physical manifestations of the chaotic energies,
rather than merely strange occurances.)
Idran1701 (6:39:55 AM): (A tremendous spherical wall of Chaos, essentially.)
SongstressEnlil (6:40:04 AM): (*Roit*)
Idran1701 (6:40:18 AM): (Also my laptop is making me angry. >:)
Idran1701 (6:40:28 AM): (So apologies for any delays from here out.)
SongstressEnlil (6:41:25 AM): *Once this is done, he'll approach the desk Dabus.* Pardon me. There is a volume I am looking for that I cannot find. Are
there any other libraries that you could direct me to?
Idran1701 (6:45:37 AM): (d20. :O)
SongstressEnlil (6:46:32 AM): (5)
Idran1701 (6:47:01 AM): "The factions of Sigil keep their own libraries as well. What work do you wish to find?"
SongstressEnlil (6:48:04 AM): I am looking for <Book name>, by Emirikol of Mystara.
Idran1701 (6:48:44 AM): "Emirikol the Chaotic?"
SongstressEnlil (6:49:12 AM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (6:53:38 AM): "Then I would suggest checking at that associated with the Society of Sensation."
Idran1701 (6:54:16 AM): "Though some of the less barmy Xaositects may have a personal collection from which you could draw."
SongstressEnlil (6:55:00 AM): I see. Can you give me directions?
In fact, might there be a map I could get a copy of?
Idran1701 (6:55:28 AM): "There are maps free to take in the satchel near the door."
Idran1701 (6:55:40 AM): "The major landmarks of Sigil are marked within."
SongstressEnlil (6:55:53 AM): Thank you.
SongstressEnlil (6:56:25 AM): *Makes to leave, taking a map on the way out and looking it over.*
Idran1701 (6:57:14 AM): (Not checking into anything else here, then?)
SongstressEnlil (6:57:44 AM): (Not at the moment. He'll be back later, probably.)
Idran1701 (6:57:48 AM): (*nod*)
Idran1701 (6:57:55 AM): *Karl gets 1x Map!*
SongstressEnlil (7:03:08 AM): *Once outside, he'll start back toward Fell's parlor and the Curio shop. If possible, he'll try to make it look like he's angling
toward the Civic festhall when leaving the library. If not, he won't bother.*
IM: Those Sedan chairs are starting to look more and more appealing...
Idran1701 (7:04:56 AM): *It's not a hard path to take, and Karl's able to put on the appearance pretty well, making his way back to the shop
after about 40 minutes' walk this time*
SongstressEnlil (7:05:59 AM): *Are there any lights on to tell him whether or not the meeting it still going on?*
Idran1701 (7:06:37 AM): *it looks like it is, yes*
SongstressEnlil (7:06:57 AM): *Knocks.*
Idran1701 (7:07:15 AM): *The door opens, and Karl is let in once more after a brief check.*
SongstressEnlil (7:07:49 AM): *Back down he goes, and if Fell isn't busy, back to hassling him.*
Idran1701 (7:08:26 AM): *it looks like they're fallen into more of a meeting than a sermon now, from what Karl can overhear as he heads down
the stairs*
Idran1701 (7:08:37 AM): *talking about the progress of future plans*
SongstressEnlil (7:09:13 AM): *He'll keep it down, then, and listen.*
Idran1701 (7:10:03 AM): (Heading into the room or lurking outside?)
SongstressEnlil (7:10:34 AM): *Heading in, he was invited. And he's curious about these plans.*
Idran1701 (7:11:36 AM): *He heads in, and the talk slows, though Fell looks to be making assurances on Karl's behalf despite his lack of
faction colors.*
Idran1701 (7:12:09 AM): ...We really wanna be trustin' outsiders in this, Fell?
Idran1701 (7:12:42 AM): "Our plans are not exactly secret, my friend. And if you are concerned, we can avoid speaking of details."
Idran1701 (7:12:50 AM): "Welcome back; was your research successful?"
SongstressEnlil (7:13:45 AM): *Shakes his head* Anything I could find on the subject was censored. What I have found, though, is a list of those
censored titles.
Idran1701 (7:14:47 AM): "Yes, that is unsurprising. And your research into the locations I spoke of?"
SongstressEnlil (7:15:16 AM): (Locations?)
Idran1701 (7:16:11 AM): (The spots that he mentioned, that are focused on gathering the entirety of some type of knowledge.)
SongstressEnlil (7:17:36 AM): (*Ctrl + F action!*
...Sodomy, I misread that whole bit completely, I thought he was just talking about the library there.)
Idran1701 (7:17:43 AM): (Aha. :D)
Idran1701 (7:17:49 AM): (Want to retcon that in as a topic?)
SongstressEnlil (7:17:54 AM): (Sure)
SongstressEnlil (7:18:14 AM): (Focus on Bytopian and Ethereal ones at the moment)
Idran1701 (7:19:40 AM): (For the ethereal, he'd find mention of a demiplane containing a tower whose magical occupants are said to seek out
and record the answer to questions uttered by sentient beings; the more specific the question, the easier to find within the answer.)
SongstressEnlil (7:20:21 AM): (Karl: I want a house there, too)
Idran1701 (7:21:00 AM): (Though how to get to this demiplane is unknown, as it's a bit legendary. There's a mention of a group of adventurers
said to have been successful in discovering a passage to it some 300 years ago, though; research into this party's name reveals a single
survivor from that time, an elf as could be assumed, last reported as residing within Arvandor.)
Idran1701 (7:22:02 AM): (There's a similar demiplane, kept by...what's his name...one sec.)
Idran1701 (7:25:10 AM): (Kept by a mage by the name of Lyzandred the Mad. Originally used to keep magical items of great danger to
society, he changed his focus, desiring instead to collect one of every type of item ever created. This is even more legendary, considering
how many more people would seek somewhere like that. It's a bit less applicable too, but it might be something for Karl to keep in mind.)
SongstressEnlil (7:25:31 AM): (*Nods*)
Idran1701 (7:25:35 AM): (As for Bytopia...)
Idran1701 (7:27:39 AM): (This is a bit odder, but he finds mention of...a dwarven mage [strange on its own], who is said to keep a museum to
the temerity of the dwarven spirit in all races, by finding the best and most well-accomplished examples of minework and collecting them for
his own enjoyment. He keeps his home in Bytopia, but he stays fairly low-key.
Pretty much entirely nonapplicable, that one.)
Idran1701 (7:28:09 AM): (Anything else of that nature he'd check into, or just sticking with those two planes for now?)
SongstressEnlil (7:28:37 AM): (Planes in general.)
SongstressEnlil (7:30:19 AM): (But less liberal in criteria, although the Dwarven Mining Museum is full of spiff :( )
Idran1701 (7:30:28 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (7:32:37 AM): (He'd find the best-known examples in that case. Thoth's Library in the Outlands, said to have a copy of every book
written; the storehouse of the Inevitables within Mechanus said to keep records of all contracts; the Library of Infernal Pacts in Avernus
said to be the same for those agreements pertaining to the baatezu specifically; Boccob's Library of Lore, also in the Outlands, said to
contain a copy of every spell ever researched by a wizard.)
Idran1701 (7:32:59 AM): (A vague reference to the Rilmani library of mirrors, but no details, as it's not nearly as well known as those above.)
SongstressEnlil (7:34:00 AM): (The first two would be the most useful to him. Especially the former, as he'd have to test it Tradegate style.)
Idran1701 (7:34:05 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (7:35:59 AM): (That's about all he'd come up with. Most of the deities of knowledge, wisdom, writing, those fields, they make
similar claims to Thoth or Boccob, but only those two deities have had the claims tested without being disproven.)
SongstressEnlil (7:37:01 AM): (ANYWAYS! Any portals listed for those?)
Idran1701 (7:37:21 AM): (For all of them! Except the Library of Infernal Pacts.)
Idran1701 (7:37:37 AM): (Though there are some caveats for the others;)
Idran1701 (7:37:57 AM): (The storehouse of the Inevitables and Boccob's Library of Lore aren't said to let in outsiders except in the most
extreme of circumstances.)
Idran1701 (7:38:44 AM): (And Thoth's Library can be dangerous; there's a mention of a pseudo-curse it has about it, where folks that enter
refuse to leave under any circumstances, becoming so caught up in their learning.)
Idran1701 (7:38:56 AM): (IT doesn't affect everyone, but it has been known to happen.)
SongstressEnlil (7:39:30 AM): (Karl: Lemme in, I need to use the bathroom!
Modron: No.
Karl: But it's illegal to go out here.
Modron: ...Ah hell.)
Idran1701 (7:39:38 AM): (Heehee. :D)
Idran1701 (7:39:57 AM): (Also no shouting about how I'm using the 3e law race. I like them as a concept, even if it isn't as much as the
modrons. >:)
SongstressEnlil (7:40:11 AM): (I have no idea what they are at all!)
Idran1701 (7:40:22 AM): (Then you will get new planar stuff to learn! :D)
Idran1701 (7:40:51 AM): (Anyway, that's about all he gets for the study into those sorts of realms.)
SongstressEnlil (7:41:53 AM): *ANYWAYS!*
I have found a few. I think that most of them are fairly well known, though. The Library of Thoth seems like a good place to start, but I imagine it's
already been looked through.
Idran1701 (7:42:25 AM): "True. But I imagine none have looked for what you seek yourself."
SongstressEnlil (7:43:37 AM): *Nods* The Inevitable's storehouse may have records of the pact, but I am unsure how anyone could convince them this
matter is dire enough for it to allow entry.
Idran1701 (7:44:13 AM): "That is a spot I am not familiar with, I am afraid."
SongstressEnlil (7:44:42 AM): It is on Mechanus, and supposed has records of every contract written.
Idran1701 (7:47:06 AM): Eh, I know the race. Bunch o' bounty hunters and trackers, those cutters. They look sorta like the high-up modrons, but they're
not happy just enforcin' law at home, they go out to do it.
SongstressEnlil (7:47:54 AM): Hmm. It may be possible to, ah, creatively manipulate the situation, then.
Idran1701 (7:49:35 AM): "That may work, yes."
Yeah, this is all well an' good, but we should get back t' the meeting.
Idran1701 (7:49:58 AM): "Yes, of course."
SongstressEnlil (7:51:52 AM): *Nods* There is one more potential idea, a tower in the Ethereal Plane whose inhabitants reputedly seek out the answer to
any question uttered by a sentient being. Of course, the difficulty would be in getting there.
Idran1701 (7:52:46 AM): *he nods* "Places such as that are often difficult to find the entrance to. But for any location, there is a transit."
Idran1701 (7:54:30 AM): This even have anythin' to do with Aoskar, anyway?
Idran1701 (7:54:57 AM): "As a matter of fact, yes, it does."
Idran1701 (7:56:51 AM): "Karl, if you wish to speak on this? I am not certain how much of a private matter it is for you."
SongstressEnlil (7:58:47 AM): There are records of Aoskar entering into some form of pact with a powerful empire upon a fairly obscure prime material
world called Legunda. My desire is to find the nature of this pact, and what it meant for both the faith of Aoskar and the empire itself. The empire, in
particular, met with a tragic end.
Idran1701 (7:59:22 AM): ...Huh. Well, all right, I s'pose.
Idran1701 (7:59:40 AM): "Aoskar is, as you could likely tell, the purpose of our meeting here as well."
SongstressEnlil (7:59:52 AM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (8:00:52 AM): "Though unless you would be willing to become inducted, I am afraid we could speak little but generalities."
SongstressEnlil (8:01:47 AM): For the time being, I will have to decline. The deities of my world hold primacy in my heart. But, I will share what I find
about Aoskar with you.
Idran1701 (8:02:12 AM): *he nods*
Idran1701 (8:02:23 AM): "I am pleased you have found some success, albeit minor."
SongstressEnlil (8:03:23 AM): *Nods* There is no minor success when seeking lost history, I have found. If it is alright, I shall leave you to your meeting; I
have intruded enough.
Idran1701 (8:04:56 AM): *he soundlessly chuckles* "It is no intrusion, despite the thinking of my colleagues. I await your return, and I hope
you find your way well. May Aoskar guide you to the doorway to your destination."
SongstressEnlil (8:05:41 AM): *Nods* And may he guide you, as well.
Idran1701 (8:05:55 AM): *smiling, he inclines his head towards Karl*
SongstressEnlil (8:07:49 AM): *Makes his way out again.*
IM: I should seek some of those Faction libraries. But...hm. There is the matter of that sword. Tomorrow, then.
*Back toward the Dragon's Vault, using the map as needs be*
SongstressEnlil (8:07:56 AM): (Yes I checked it)
Idran1701 (8:08:00 AM): (:D)
Idran1701 (8:08:17 AM): (And cut for now, then?)
SongstressEnlil (8:08:47 AM): (Sure. Though if he gets there late enough, he'll be happy to dodge the party for now.)
Idran1701 (8:09:53 AM): (Assuming Melissa'd let him, of course.)
SongstressEnlil (8:10:25 AM): (Indeed)
Idran1701 (8:10:46 AM): (Also, 300 XP for the stuff on the Astral. :O)
Idran1701 (8:11:48 AM): (He's 187 from a level right now.)
SongstressEnlil (8:12:32 AM): * :D!*
