(5:33:36 PM) You have just entered room "planescapestuff."
(5:33:43 PM) SongstressEnlil has entered the room.
(5:33:47 PM) TheWaiChibiAngel has entered the room.
SongstressEnlil (5:33:48 PM): *Hey it's supper!*
Idran1701 (5:33:53 PM): !
Idran1701 (5:34:11 PM): Kay. We'll start up when you get back, then.
TheWaiChibiAngel (5:58:47 PM): *I gotta take Neb to work soon. :(*
Idran1701 (5:58:58 PM)
: *nod* All right.
Idran1701 (5:59:55 PM): By the time you get back Pervy'll probably be back too anyway. :O
SongstressEnlil (6:03:10 PM): *HUGE*
Idran1701 (6:10:15 PM): When Shini gets back, then, we'll be good to start. Shouldn't take too long; maybe an hour, hour and a half.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:06:49 PM): *That drivethrough was monsterous.*
Idran1701 (7:06:59 PM)
: Bad traffic?
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:08:04 PM): *Yep.*
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:09:36 PM)
: *Fucking Arngrim.*
Idran1701 (7:09:57 PM)
: Pervy, you still here? :O
SongstressEnlil (7:10:03 PM): *YES!*
Idran1701 (7:10:07 PM): !
Idran1701 (7:10:18 PM): Then unless there are any pre-questions, we'll begin.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:10:40 PM): *What is the circumfrence of a moose?!*
Idran1701 (7:10:49 PM)
: The distance around him.
SongstressEnlil (7:10:54 PM): *Why is rylolite?*
Idran1701 (7:11:02 PM): Because it doesn't weigh much.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:11:13 PM): *How long is a chinaman?*
Idran1701 (7:11:18 PM)
: Yes.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:11:32 PM): *Idran gets respect.*
SongstressEnlil (7:11:39 PM)
: *C'mon, I really need this point.*
Idran1701 (7:12:18 PM): <WE START!>
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:14:32 PM): <IT SHALL BE ENGRAVED UPON YOUR SOUL>
SongstressEnlil (7:14:43 PM)
: <SATA ANDAGI>
Idran1701 (7:16:05 PM): Having recieved directions, Karl and Lilium head down the streets of Sigil. Leaving the slums of the city (the Hive Ward, according to Melissa), they soon find themselves winding through a far more active section of the city.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:17:48 PM): ..Hm.
Idran1701 (7:17:48 PM): This area is filled with people moving about. Mostly humans, but with a good number of more fiendish-looking sorts as well; some humanoids that appear a bit demonic, and a few outright fiends themselves, going about their business.
Idran1701 (7:18:21 PM): As they walk, the air quality here is slowly getting worse; Lilium likely wouldn't be able to stand it here at all were it not for her current condition.
SongstressEnlil (7:18:57 PM): I've never quite encountered a slum with better air than the more affluent parts of town.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:19:00 PM): *mumbles* What a nice part of town.
SongstressEnlil (7:19:02 PM): *Coughs*
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:19:27 PM): This would have driven me insane.
SongstressEnlil (7:19:53 PM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (7:20:07 PM): I should have a handkerchief, if you need one.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:21:25 PM): ...No, I'm fine.
Idran1701 (7:21:34 PM): A number of businesses can be seen here; a tavern here, a shop there. They soon come to the end of this last street, Brandy Lane, and round the corner onto the final part of their trip. And here...oh my.
Idran1701 (7:22:14 PM): This area stands in stark contrast not just to this ward, but to even the slums. Wreckage and ruins for blocks ahead, with many signs of others having picked through, scavenging for building materials.
SongstressEnlil (7:23:03 PM): *Blinks* Astounding.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:23:25 PM): ..What did she say happened here, again?
Idran1701 (7:23:28 PM): The land here is fairly clear with the damage that can be seen, and at the end of this street can be seen an imposing structure that seems to be their destination, standing at the center of this damaged section of the city.
SongstressEnlil (7:23:56 PM): She didn't. She just called it the Shattered Temple.
SongstressEnlil (7:24:16 PM): And I see the name isn't metaphorical.
Idran1701 (7:24:23 PM): Even damaged as it is, it's still a framework standing easily 50 feet tall, and from the spires about it that still remain standing, it stood twice that easily when fully formed.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:25:33 PM): ...Oh.
SongstressEnlil (7:26:00 PM): *Heads for this structure* They do seem to be quite fond of their point, don't they?
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:26:26 PM): *Says nothing :(*
SongstressEnlil (7:29:13 PM): IM: Let's just hope they're not so fond they act as obtuse as those Dustmen.
Idran1701 (7:30:15 PM): Ahead can be seen two folk in armor; guards, possibly, though quite relaxed for such. They haven't even yet noticed Karl and Lil approach as they head down the street through the ruins.
SongstressEnlil (7:30:53 PM): *Do they seem to be guarding anything in particular?*
Idran1701 (7:31:15 PM): (The entrance to that impressive-looking wreckage ahead.)
SongstressEnlil (7:31:21 PM): (Roit)
SongstressEnlil (7:31:31 PM): *walks toward them*
Idran1701 (7:31:44 PM): However, the sound of their footsteps on the splintered wood and broken cobblestone beneath them soon draws their attention, as they turn to face the two visitors.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:32:32 PM): *Stands! Looking...Lilish.*
Idran1701 (7:32:58 PM): Upon their armor can be seen a prominent symbol, and they slowly move their hands near their weapons as they speak up, looking quite surprised. You there! Do you have business here?
Idran1701 (7:33:15 PM): (The symbol: http://www.mysidia.org/Planescape/Athar.jpg )
SongstressEnlil (7:33:47 PM): *Once in speaking range* Good day, sirs. I have come hoping to learn what you have to share about the Powers.
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:35:04 PM): IM: This should be interesting. Quiet, you.
Idran1701 (7:35:24 PM): Oh? Here for a tour, then?
SongstressEnlil (7:36:45 PM): That would be interesting. However, we are both seeking our own bits of knowledge.
Idran1701 (7:37:07 PM): *looks to Lil*
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:37:20 PM): *Nods* I need to speak to someone about a fallen god.
Idran1701 (7:38:42 PM): *nods* I'll summon a pair of guides for the two of you, then.
SongstressEnlil (7:39:10 PM): Thank you, that is most helpful.
Idran1701 (7:40:39 PM): Taking out a thin reed flute, he proceeds to play a short series of notes. Quickly after, a young fellow, another with something of a fiendish look to him, comes dashing out, a grin on his face. Eh? Someone need a guide?
Idran1701 (7:41:22 PM): Two, actually. Can you go get another, Caylean? Two? Sure! Back in two shakes!
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:43:34 PM): ..
Idran1701 (7:43:46 PM): Dashing back in, he soon emerges with another sort, about the same age, but this one much...odder. He looks something like a cross between a human and a bull; the torso of the former but the lower body of the latter.
SongstressEnlil (7:44:05 PM): IM: My.
SongstressEnlil (7:44:25 PM): *Trying not to stare impolitely*
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:44:28 PM): IM: What the hell? It's been some time.
Idran1701 (7:44:41 PM)
: A pair of curved horns, something like that of a ram, adorn the head of this new fellow.
SongstressEnlil (7:46:32 PM): IM: I should expect nothing less.
SongstressEnlil (7:46:39 PM): Greetings, both of you.
Idran1701 (7:46:40 PM): These are Caylean and Kamtar. Fine guides, I'm sure they'll be able to show you to wherever you need to go at our Temple.
Idran1701 (7:47:43 PM): Pleasure t' meet you two myself! Yes, quite...which of us shall be going with whom, now?
SongstressEnlil (7:49:10 PM): Hm. Which of you is more familiar with deceased powers?
Idran1701 (7:50:31 PM): Deaders? Ah, I've got a bit o' experience with that. Used t' lead the Astral tours, I did!
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:50:55 PM): IM: Lovely; I think we have that one.
SongstressEnlil (7:51:29 PM)
: Ah, good. If you wouldn't mind showing me around, then?
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:52:16 PM): IM: ..Wait, why's he taking the one that knows more?
Idran1701 (7:52:22 PM): 'course, 'course!
Idran1701 (7:53:02 PM): *to Lil* So then, I shall be escorting you?
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:53:56 PM): Looks that way.
SongstressEnlil (7:54:33 PM): *Waits to be led off*
Idran1701 (7:54:41 PM): *nods* Both of you, please, enter.
Idran1701 (7:55:21 PM): *darts out the rear end of the open gatehouse, pausing to wait for Karl*
SongstressEnlil (7:55:57 PM): *Follows*
TheWaiChibiAngel (7:56:22 PM): *Follow!*
Idran1701 (7:57:02 PM): Kamtar, instead, waits to walk alongside Lil, as Caylean continues his energetic motion down the path beyond.
SongstressEnlil (7:57:23 PM): *Follows, perhaps struggling to keep up*
Idran1701 (7:58:22 PM): Within, both are led down an uneven path through a badly-kept courtyard, riddled with mole tunnels and pocked across by thistle. It's fairly amazing that Caylean can keep up this gait without tripping, honestly.
Idran1701 (7:59:32 PM): Past the gatehouse at the far end of this path stands a smaller building, with the massive temple looming beyond. Now, what exactly did the two of you wish to look into?
SongstressEnlil (7:59:43 PM): *Slows down, for tripping is no fun.*
Idran1701 (8:00:00 PM): *pauses!* ...Ah, yeah, that'd be important, wouldn't it? Can't guide very well if I don't know where to guide y' to!
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:00:06 PM): I need information on a fallen god.
SongstressEnlil (8:00:48 PM): Likewise, on a different one entirely, for a more abstract reason.
Idran1701 (8:01:34 PM): *nods* What reasons would that be for the two of you?
SongstressEnlil (8:02:37 PM): I, personally, want to know the truth of why the powers decided to punish our world.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:03:10 PM): Curiousity, mainly.
Idran1701 (8:04:34 PM): *nods* Then Caylean, take...oh, we haven't yet had your names, have we?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:05:04 PM): Caylean and Kamtar?
Idran1701 (8:05:18 PM): *the two nod*
SongstressEnlil (8:05:29 PM): I am Karl, and this is Lilium.
Idran1701 (8:06:25 PM): Then Caylean, take Karl to the archives. And Lilium, I'll show you to one of our factors; perhaps speaking with him can clarify things for you.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:06:35 PM): *Nods* Thanks.
Idran1701 (8:07:06 PM): Right! Right down here, Kahl!
SongstressEnlil (8:07:20 PM): IM: Yes, I like these people much better than the Dustmen.
SongstressEnlil (8:07:26 PM): *Follows*
Idran1701 (8:07:44 PM): Caylean heads down the path towards the Temple proper, while Kamtar leads Lil towards one of the outer buildings.
Idran1701 (8:08:45 PM): Heading to a long outer chamber standing to the left of the path, he enters and awaits for Lil's entry. Within, she can see a number of long oak tables; this appears to be the facility's eating area.
Idran1701 (8:09:49 PM): And Caylean leads Karl into the Shattered Temple, leading him into a room just to the left of the entrance.
Idran1701 (8:10:13 PM): This room seems to at one time have served as a shrine, but now is filled with shelves, filled with books, books, and more books.
SongstressEnlil (8:11:00 PM): IM: I like these people much much better than the Dustmen.
Idran1701 (8:11:17 PM): He is just ahead, at that table there. Don't worry about interrupting him; we are always happy to speak to those who wish to learn the truth of the Powers.
SongstressEnlil (8:11:40 PM): *If he's close enough to see titles, he'll have a peek at them. If not, he'll follow Caylean*
Idran1701 (8:11:47 PM): Kamtar gestures to a robed sort eating what looks to be a fairly well-prepared meal.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:12:06 PM): *Nods* Thank you.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:12:08 PM): *Forward!*
Idran1701 (8:12:54 PM): None of the titles are anything Karl would recognize, but they all seem to be works on religion, both pro and con.
Idran1701 (8:13:27 PM): So then, wanting somethin' 'bout the Powers betraying your world, y' said?
SongstressEnlil (8:15:23 PM): *Nods* A few things regarding that, really. And, admittedly, a side matter if you'd be kind enough to indulge me later. I assume that the Athar are rather keen to collect the names of deceased powers?
Idran1701 (8:15:25 PM): Ahead, Lil's target looks up at her as she approaches. Oh, a guest? Who might you be?
Idran1701 (8:16:04 PM): We keep some info on that, yeah. Always good t' know when it happens, after all.
SongstressEnlil (8:17:15 PM): There is a power in my world, one that has been silent for some time since the aforementioned punishment. His name was Tonbae, are you familiar with it at all?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:18:19 PM): My name is Lilium Cilestro. I came to ask a few things about the powerxs.
Idran1701 (8:19:14 PM): Tonbae, Tonbae...he that ancient one that got put in the dead book not long ago? River god?
Idran1701 (8:19:45 PM): Oh? Well, a pleasure. I am Factor Curtis. Please, sit.
Idran1701 (8:19:54 PM): What did you wish to ask, young lady?
SongstressEnlil (8:20:14 PM): Not quite. Deity of the world, Legunda, as a whole.
Idran1701 (8:21:33 PM): Legunda, y' say? Afraid I don' know it.
Idran1701 (8:21:37 PM): (*Color)
Idran1701 (8:21:49 PM): Know anythin' 'bout him?
Idran1701 (8:22:34 PM): *smirks* Can't exactly get their names offa' tombstones, after all. Gotta record them with other stuff for th' new'uns.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:23:09 PM): (Sorry, distracted.)
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:23:13 PM): *Sits!*
Idran1701 (8:23:19 PM): (That's fine. :O)
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:23:19 PM): There is..
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:23:22 PM): ...Ahh..
Idran1701 (8:23:50 PM): Hmm?
SongstressEnlil (8:23:50 PM): .*Nods* Tonbae stopped answering his followers about five to six hundred years ago, when the gods supposedly punished our world for the trangressions of an empire.
Idran1701 (8:25:04 PM): Ah. Y' gotta hate it when they do that, don't y'? Throwin' around their force like that, not ezzactly fair t' you lot, is it?
SongstressEnlil (8:25:42 PM): Quite so.
Idran1701 (8:25:50 PM): Bu' anyway...eh, tha's...tha' might be a bit before our time, actually.
Idran1701 (8:25:57 PM): 'bout as old as we are, tha' is.
Idran1701 (8:26:10 PM): 'course, that just means more time to ha' found 'im, eh?
SongstressEnlil (8:26:26 PM): *Nods* History has been rather, ah, imprecise on what happened then.
Idran1701 (8:27:08 PM): *nods* You say he's y'r overpower?
SongstressEnlil (8:27:32 PM): In a nutshell, the empire of Trakain did, well, something. And the gods saw it fit to wipe it from the face of Legunda with some sort of catastrophy. And, overpower?
Idran1701 (8:28:21 PM): *grins* Th' powers boss 'round th' mortals, an' th' overpowers boss 'round th' powers.
Idran1701 (8:28:28 PM): Said he's y'r world's god, right?
Idran1701 (8:29:23 PM): Whatever it is, you'll find no judgment here, miss. Feeling disillusioned?
SongstressEnlil (8:30:04 PM): In a sense. He embodies, or embodied, Legunda itself. He really had no power over the others, though.
SongstressEnlil (8:30:18 PM): Unless that too has been forgotten, but I rather doubt it.
Idran1701 (8:30:49 PM): Oh, one o' them! Huh.
Idran1701 (8:31:28 PM): ...An' he's dead? Usually takes a lot t' kill off onna' them, far as I know. Tend t' feed offa' th' planet and the worshippers, them.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:31:36 PM): Ahh..
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:31:38 PM): ..No, not quite.
SongstressEnlil (8:31:40 PM): You see, that divine wrath left a thousands-mile scar upon Legunda, in which the laws of nature and magic become rather more optional.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:31:49 PM): You see, uh..
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:31:53 PM): ...There's, uh...
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:31:55 PM): ..One in my head.
Idran1701 (8:31:59 PM): ...That'd be a yes, then.
SongstressEnlil (8:32:06 PM): Which leads to an interesting paradox, really.
Idran1701 (8:32:12 PM): ...In your head?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:32:12 PM): *Shrugs, offering a "Ahah, isn't that funny?" Grin.*
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:32:18 PM): Well, more like his shadow, really.
SongstressEnlil (8:32:25 PM): Divine wrath so wrathful it silences, or slays, one of their own.
Idran1701 (8:32:46 PM): Yeah, we've run int' a bit o' that 'fore too.
SongstressEnlil (8:32:59 PM): Oh?
Idran1701 (8:33:18 PM): ...Y' sure i's not Aebrynis you're talkin' 'bout?
SongstressEnlil (8:33:32 PM): I've not heard of it.
SongstressEnlil (8:33:49 PM): But, I am a bit skeptical of the story.
Idran1701 (8:33:54 PM): Huh. Ri'.
Idran1701 (8:34:23 PM): Well, then...here, we keep those down here. *dashes off to another part of the room!*
SongstressEnlil (8:34:39 PM): It seems a little odd that they would strike down Trakain so hard as to silence, or slay, the deity tied- Ah, yes. coming.
Idran1701 (8:34:39 PM): Well, that is...interesting. And how did this come to pass?
SongstressEnlil (8:34:43 PM): *Follows*
Idran1701 (8:35:54 PM): Ri' here! You check those, I'll check these! *makes some quick gestures, and starts grabbing books off of the shelves*
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:36:02 PM): Well, obviously, I've got a...Condition.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:36:10 PM): The Dustmen were looking into it, but sent me to do something for them.
Idran1701 (8:36:11 PM): Sure we'll find th' dark on this power o' yours soon 'nough!
Idran1701 (8:36:19 PM): *nods*
SongstressEnlil (8:36:22 PM): *Gets to it, looking over the volumes for something that seems to fit.*
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:36:32 PM): Big artifact to said lost god, little bit of power left, got too close, next thing I know he's got his hand in my mind.
Idran1701 (8:38:03 PM): I see. And what did you wish to know about this?
Idran1701 (8:39:06 PM): Karl finds these books are compendiums of godcorpse information. Noting descriptions, how long they seem to have existed, events that have been recorded around them, and where possible, names and worlds of origin.
Idran1701 (8:39:39 PM): Interestingly enough, they also record something refered to as "memory remnants"; apparantly, some form physical hallucinations of their life when approached by mortals.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:39:43 PM): Anything I can...And anything about tgetting it out of there.
Idran1701 (8:39:59 PM): This shadow...describe it?
SongstressEnlil (8:40:10 PM): *He'll flip through them, looking for references to Tonbae, Trakain, Legunda, and the Distortion, as well as Aoskar.*
SongstressEnlil (8:40:35 PM): IM: I wonder why the one we came to didn't manifest any of that?
Idran1701 (8:42:01 PM): Aoskar is the easiest to find; the very first entry in this book, in fact, and there's quite a bit of information on him.
SongstressEnlil (8:42:17 PM): *It'll be skimmed and noted.*
SongstressEnlil (8:42:35 PM): *Then the others searched for*
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:42:35 PM): It's...
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:42:48 PM): ...It has something to do with the undead, I think. It possessed me for a very brief time. Now it just acts as commentary.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:42:54 PM): IM: You need it. Shut up.
Idran1701 (8:42:55 PM): Why, there's even a sketch of his godcorpse in this one. Oddly formed blades piercing his head and body, an expression of utter torment upon his face.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:43:05 PM): It doesn't know it's name, soI call it Larry.
Idran1701 (8:43:21 PM): It speaks, then?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:43:35 PM): Only to me...
Idran1701 (8:44:42 PM): From what he can gather from this, Aoskar was a deity who once was a major presence within this very city. A god of portals and gateways.
SongstressEnlil (8:44:48 PM): IM: Hmmm. Definitely need to come back to this.
SongstressEnlil (8:45:05 PM): IM: It wouldn't explain everything, though.
Idran1701 (8:45:43 PM): And is he aware of the outside world?
Idran1701 (8:46:10 PM): He continues flipping through, and...well, here's something.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:46:39 PM): IM: Call him a hack.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:46:57 PM)
: *Nods* Yes...Very.
Idran1701 (8:47:30 PM): A note of an island in the Astral, existing for at least 500 years.
SongstressEnlil (8:47:47 PM): *Reads*
Idran1701 (8:48:01 PM): So small that it was thought to be a piece of elemental earth that had drifted in, until someone realized its odd shape: a thumb and forefinger.
Idran1701 (8:48:23 PM): The oddest part is how it seems to have flowered over with plants of all kind, despite the timeless nature of the plane. No record of a name, a memory fragment, or any knowledge about it, but it does seem to fit.
Idran1701 (8:48:37 PM): Well, we can certainly try to help you with this.
SongstressEnlil (8:49:02 PM): This could be something.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:49:44 PM): I would..Appreciate it.
Idran1701 (8:49:50 PM): And know this for one, Lilium; you need not worry of this thing's existence. It is obvious he is quite powerless in all ways now, by the very fact that you were able to enter this city once more.
Idran1701 (8:50:16 PM): The ruler of this city, she opposes all entry by any who hold even a mote of divine power.
Idran1701 (8:50:31 PM): No, this "Larry"...
Idran1701 (8:51:07 PM): *he smiles lightly, amused* ...he is definitely quite impotent now.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:51:10 PM): IM: Haha, sucks to be you! More than you can imagine.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:51:15 PM)
: ...Really? *Relieved*
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:51:19 PM): Good, I was worried
SongstressEnlil (8:51:30 PM): *If Caylean is interested, Karl will show him the entry*
Idran1701 (8:51:47 PM): Oh, yeah, I've seen this'un!
Idran1701 (8:52:05 PM): Always thought it was weird. They don't usually come tha' small.
SongstressEnlil (8:52:21 PM): *Nods* Tell me a bit more about it?
Idran1701 (8:52:24 PM): Pretty, though.
SongstressEnlil (8:52:35 PM): In fact... can you show me it?
Idran1701 (8:52:55 PM): Now? 'fraid not. Th' portal t' the Astral here closed up 'bout 3, 4 years ago.
Idran1701 (8:53:11 PM): You get back there, though, y' should just need t' think your way towards it.
SongstressEnlil (8:53:19 PM): A pity. I wanted to see how the mighty had fallen with my own eyes, so to speak.
Idran1701 (8:53:39 PM): *grins* Yeah, we used t' get a lot o' that from th' Clueless.
Idran1701 (8:53:53 PM): Always a bit o' fun showin' them 'round, too.
SongstressEnlil (8:54:08 PM): Well, it's rather that such ideas are...moderately heretical back home.
Idran1701 (8:54:22 PM): Tha's always th' case, ain't it?
Idran1701 (8:54:37 PM): The powers an' their lot, they hate anyone talkin' 'bout how they really are.
SongstressEnlil (8:54:53 PM): But I've never been quite so sure. It would have been...intriguing to see this with my own eyes. Someday, perhaps.
Idran1701 (8:55:00 PM): Now then, Lilium, when would you wish us to begin? I am afraid I am a bit busy at the moment, as you can see.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:56:23 PM): Whenever, really...But I need to go to Dis at some point.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:56:29 PM): So the sooner the better.
Idran1701 (8:56:36 PM): *nods* Of course.
Idran1701 (8:56:42 PM): Tonight, then?
SongstressEnlil (8:56:54 PM): Ah well. If I may indulge more of your time for a curiousity?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:57:01 PM): That...Would probably work.
Idran1701 (8:57:04 PM): Eh, seein' this stuff ain't nearly as hard as you Clueless put on.
Idran1701 (8:57:06 PM): Eh?
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:57:06 PM): How long do you think it would take?
Idran1701 (8:57:23 PM): Well, we would need to learn more about what would be necessary first, of course.
SongstressEnlil (8:58:09 PM): Tell me about Aoskar? I have, ah, a personal curiosity.
Idran1701 (8:58:23 PM): *grins* Ah, there's a story.
Idran1701 (8:58:53 PM): Here's th' dark o' it. Y' see, long time ago...547 years now, it is, I think...there was thi' power, Aoskar.
TheWaiChibiAngel (8:58:56 PM): *Nods*
SongstressEnlil (8:59:00 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (8:59:06 PM): Big name. Had half o' Sigil under hi' spell. Portals were his thing, y' see.
SongstressEnlil (8:59:19 PM): Indeed, that caught my eye.
Idran1701 (9:00:08 PM): You know, an incident like this...it must be a trying experience for you, Lilium. Tell me, has it effected your view of the powers any?
Idran1701 (9:00:34 PM): Anyway, he was always a big thorn in th' side o' the Lady o' Pain. Finally, there wa' a turnin' point.
Idran1701 (9:01:12 PM): One o' th' Dabus, her servants; maybe y've seen 'em around, floatin' about, fixin' up buildings.
Idran1701 (9:01:30 PM): Anyway, one o' them turned stag on her, took up worshippin' Aoskar right here at this temple.
SongstressEnlil (9:01:41 PM): *Nods*
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:01:49 PM): Ahh..
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:01:57 PM): ..I..Didn't have too much of a view of them before.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:02:10 PM): But yeah, all this has kind of made me bitter.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:02:16 PM): IM: ... Moreso.
Idran1701 (9:02:33 PM): Tha' there, tha' was th' last straw for her. Th' next day, pow! This whole area looked like it does t'day, Aoskar's entire priesthood was gone. Mazed, prolly.
Idran1701 (9:02:38 PM): And Aoskar, he was jus' another deader floatin' in th' Astral.
SongstressEnlil (9:02:45 PM): Mazed?
Idran1701 (9:03:27 PM): Thrown int' one o' her prisons. She takes a bit o' Sigil, pinches it off, tosses it int' th' Ethereal. Y' wake up, suddenly, that hallway doesn't lead t' how y' remember it.
Idran1701 (9:03:41 PM): *nods* And understandably so.
Idran1701 (9:03:59 PM): Let me ask you another question. Have you ever wondered why they ask for the worship of mortals?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:04:14 PM): *Shakes her head*
SongstressEnlil (9:04:16 PM): I see. And with half of Sigil under his spell, as you said, it must have been quite the rearrangement.
Idran1701 (9:04:32 PM): Ah, nah, she didn't grab all o' them. Just th' priesties.
SongstressEnlil (9:04:37 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (9:04:38 PM): All except for tha' dabus, tha' is.
SongstressEnlil (9:04:47 PM): I see.
SongstressEnlil (9:04:52 PM): What was his faith like?
Idran1701 (9:04:58 PM): She cast 'im out o' her service, but he's still 'round th' city.
Idran1701 (9:05:20 PM): Runs some kinda tattoo shop o'er in th' Clerk's Ward now. Fell's th' name.
Idran1701 (9:05:28 PM): Strength.
Idran1701 (9:05:30 PM): Power.
Idran1701 (9:05:45 PM): They feed on the belief of mortals. It energizes them, and grants them all that they have.
Idran1701 (9:05:57 PM): And when it runs short...well, you've seen the result for yourself.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:05:58 PM): ..I see.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:06:04 PM): They starve and die.
Idran1701 (9:06:07 PM): *nods*
Idran1701 (9:06:16 PM): Now, would you call something like that a god?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:06:16 PM): ...Though I'm curious.
Idran1701 (9:06:20 PM): Hmm?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:06:23 PM): Not really..
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:06:50 PM): And could Larry just be transported into something else? Somewhere where he had..Even less power?*
Idran1701 (9:07:30 PM): Transported? I'd say that's unlikely. No, it's more likely this is just a...reflection. A shadow, as you put it.
Idran1701 (9:07:52 PM): A last tendril of influence from the dying mass of a once great being.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:08:19 PM): *Nods* I know, but I mean, taken out of me, and put elsewhere? Or just annihilated outright?
Idran1701 (9:09:17 PM): Ah, I see. Yes, that may be possible. An outright banishment would likely be more effective, but...I would be lying if I wouldn't enjoy keeping such a thing around.
Idran1701 (9:09:28 PM): As a reminder that even the Powers are mortal in their own way.
Idran1701 (9:09:55 PM): Though annihilated completely? That would be far beyond our capabilities, I am almost certain.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:10:01 PM): *Nodmore*
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:10:08 PM): If I may, then?
Idran1701 (9:10:17 PM): An afraid I can't tell y' much 'bout his faith.
Idran1701 (9:10:26 PM): Tha' was a long time 'go.
Idran1701 (9:11:12 PM): An' honestly, th' details of what hoops th' Powers want their men t' jump through, i's kinda depressin'.
Idran1701 (9:11:21 PM): Certainly.
SongstressEnlil (9:11:38 PM): I find it rather fascinating, myself.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:12:01 PM): *Rolls up a sleeve, and shows her Katar* For a while, I'd like it in here. Enslaved to me, as it tried to take me.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:12:20 PM): After a suitable replacement is found, though, I'd gladly donate it to your group.
SongstressEnlil (9:12:27 PM): It's rather like watching a whole different culture.
SongstressEnlil (9:12:45 PM): But, I suppose that is simply my old profession speaking.
Idran1701 (9:12:48 PM): *another light smile* Well, that would certainly appeal to most Powers' sense of justice, from what I've seen.
Idran1701 (9:12:51 PM): It seems only fair.
Idran1701 (9:13:03 PM): Wha's that?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:13:08 PM): Great.
Idran1701 (9:13:31 PM): He must be quite seething right now, yes?
SongstressEnlil (9:13:49 PM): I was a sage, back home, centered around history and, by extension, religion.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:14:05 PM): *Grins* I'm honestly not paying any attention at the moment.
SongstressEnlil (9:14:45 PM): Tonbae's fate, and the mystery of Trakain, they are very much the goal of any serious scholar.
Idran1701 (9:15:18 PM): Huh. Yeah, tha' I can unnerstand. But th' way they treat their "followers", it doesn't rile y' up any?
SongstressEnlil (9:15:22 PM): I'm just a bit more willing to question than most, I suppose. *grin*
SongstressEnlil (9:15:33 PM): I find it more intriguing they choose to do it.
Idran1701 (9:15:35 PM): ...Not like they ever really do anythin' for 'em, after all.
Idran1701 (9:15:58 PM): *chuckles*
SongstressEnlil (9:16:05 PM): The spells are handy, I've seen.
Idran1701 (9:16:23 PM): ...Y' wanna know somethin'?
Idran1701 (9:16:30 PM): We've got priests here too.
SongstressEnlil (9:16:39 PM): Oh?
Idran1701 (9:16:47 PM): Inner faith. I's all y' really need.
SongstressEnlil (9:16:52 PM): Go on?
Idran1701 (9:17:14 PM): Most o' 'em, they get their power straight from inside themselves.
Idran1701 (9:17:19 PM): No Powers involved.
Idran1701 (9:17:38 PM): But yes, I shall see what we can do.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:18:23 PM): Thank you very much.
SongstressEnlil (9:18:27 PM): And those who are not the most?
Idran1701 (9:18:34 PM): And if I may...I can tell that you are quite...rankled by the Powers now. Even moreso that they ask so much of us, and yet have they helped your condition one whit?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:19:02 PM): Not..really.
Idran1701 (9:19:13 PM): Well...Terrence is a good guy, an' I'm proud t' serve unner him, but his ideas are a little odd. Seem to work, though...
SongstressEnlil (9:19:37 PM): Go on?
Idran1701 (9:19:39 PM): ...what he claims, jus' 'cause these Powers are frauds don't mean there aren't greater beings beyond wha' we c'n see, real Gods.
SongstressEnlil (9:19:56 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (9:19:58 PM): He an ' some o' th' others get some o' their priestly strength from them.
Idran1701 (9:20:25 PM): We are always willing to take in new members to the fold. To help advance the knowledge of the true face of the Powers.
SongstressEnlil (9:20:39 PM): They must sleep very well at night, having come upon such an intriguing finding.
Idran1701 (9:20:54 PM): ...Eh?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:21:19 PM): *Nods* I'll consider it...No offense, but my top priority right now is returning to how I should be.
SongstressEnlil (9:21:56 PM): My pardon. Sigil has it's own words, Legunda has a few as well.
Idran1701 (9:22:11 PM): *nods* Certainly. But keep in mind, the Powers, they likely will serve little to help you in this, as concerned with their own affairs as they are.
Idran1701 (9:22:44 PM): While the Athar are always willing to help those who beseech upon them.
SongstressEnlil (9:22:47 PM): But tell me of these true god,s it fascinates me.
Idran1701 (9:23:14 PM): Not much t' tell, really. 's why he jus' calls i' th' "Great Unknown".
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:23:20 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (9:23:24 PM): Beyond our ken an' allat.
Idran1701 (9:24:02 PM): He prays, an' i'...or somethin', at least, it gives him spells jus' like anythin' else.
SongstressEnlil (9:25:26 PM): *Nods* Has he been able to discern anything about it?
SongstressEnlil (9:25:34 PM): Aside that it does exist?
Idran1701 (9:26:36 PM): Was there anything further which I may be able to help you with here?
Idran1701 (9:27:02 PM): Nope, tha's 'bout all i' is, far as I know. Then 'gain, I never really looked much int' what he said.
Idran1701 (9:27:18 PM): Real or not, I dun need it.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:27:33 PM): No, no, I think that's it. *Stands* See you tonight, then?
Idran1701 (9:28:17 PM): Tonight. And I will strive my best to help you, Lilium. With this and, should you wish it, your current condition as well.
SongstressEnlil (9:28:50 PM): Whether or not I need it, it seems a folly to not look into such a critical truth of existance.
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:28:54 PM): *Pauses, then nods*
SongstressEnlil (9:29:18 PM): I suspect it would make it easier to convince others of their own misplaced faith.
Idran1701 (9:30:01 PM): Eh, maybe f'r them, bu' I didn't need any help t' be convinced. Th' Powers never did nothin' for me, I'm not gonna do anythin' for them. Simple a' that.
Idran1701 (9:30:52 PM): *smiles back to her, and returns to his meal*
SongstressEnlil (9:31:23 PM): *Nods* I suppose I can understand that. Might it be possible to speak with him, or perhaps examine a treatsie on the subject?
Idran1701 (9:32:12 PM): Eh...sure we've go' a tract on tha'. Lemme jus' go see wha' I can find.
Idran1701 (9:33:48 PM): Caylean darts off unless stopped, heading over to a shelf nearer the entrance.
SongstressEnlil (9:34:05 PM): *Doesn't stop him*
Idran1701 (9:34:31 PM): And in the refectory, Kamtar waits for Lil. Shall you need assistance in finding your way back out?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:36:41 PM): No, thank you.
Idran1701 (9:37:16 PM): He soon returns, holding...a thin pamphlet. Yep, found one.
SongstressEnlil (9:38:10 PM): I see. *Takes it*
Idran1701 (9:38:24 PM): ...Not wha' y' had in mind?
TheWaiChibiAngel (9:38:35 PM): *Heads out!*
SongstressEnlil (9:39:09 PM): *And flips through it, skimming lightly* I admit, I was hoping that such a discovery would be more thoroughly documented. Or at least theorized upon.
Idran1701 (9:39:27 PM): ...Oh! Thought y' wanted somethin' t' take wit' y'.
SongstressEnlil (9:40:30 PM): Oh, I theoretically have until, ah, well, quite a ways past Anti-Peak.
Idran1701 (9:40:40 PM): *nod* Well, they've got writings 'bout it, but you'll have t' stay here t' read them.
Idran1701 (9:40:54 PM): Just over here. *and off he bounds again!*
Idran1701 (9:42:32 PM): *pulls out a bound volume, handing it to Karl*
Idran1701 (9:43:00 PM): Looking over it, he can see the title: "Thoughts on the nature of the Great Unknown"
SongstressEnlil (9:43:44 PM): *Takes it, putting the pamphlet aside, and leafs through the first couple pages* A thought occurs to me, I am curious to see how another skeptic would regard it.
Idran1701 (9:43:56 PM): Eh?
SongstressEnlil (9:44:54 PM): Rather a sort of paradox I've sometimes encountered, being around those who are not so skeptical.
SongstressEnlil (9:45:27 PM): If you were writing a story, would you consider it a bad thing to ask a friend to help inspire you?
Idran1701 (9:45:50 PM): ...Wouldn't think so, nah. Gotta be inspired from somewhere, yeah?
SongstressEnlil (9:46:12 PM): Is asking a power for such any different, then?
Idran1701 (9:47:24 PM): Well, would th' friend ask y' t' devote t' himself utterly for th' rest o' your life in return for a bi' o' inspiration now an' again?
SongstressEnlil (9:49:12 PM): I should hope a friend would want some sort of lifelong devotion. *Chuckles*
Idran1701 (9:49:35 PM): There's a difference between askin' f'r friendship an' askin' f'r worship.
SongstressEnlil (9:51:09 PM): Well, both tend to ask for money, and sacrifices of time and effort. Is there that much difference between a prayer and helping a friend arrange his front room?
(9:54:12 PM) TheWaiChibiAngel has left the room.
Idran1701 (9:54:19 PM): *hardens up some* ...You wanna debate, go on down t' th' Hall o' Speakers. All I know is, I was born crippled. I believed in th' Powers my whole life, an' nothin'.
Idran1701 (9:54:27 PM): Bu' the day, the day tha' I joined th' Athar an' cast them aside, I could walk.
Idran1701 (9:54:41 PM): No spells, no healin'.
SongstressEnlil (9:55:00 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (9:55:39 PM): Th' Powers are nothin' more than a group o' folks tha' tumbled ont' th' dark of gettin' power from belief. Nothin' more.
Idran1701 (9:55:54 PM): Maybe when they do somethin' deservin' o' worship.
SongstressEnlil (9:56:37 PM): IM: So very touchy.
SongstressEnlil (9:57:30 PM): IM: I wonder how he'd react to the idea they just hate him?
Idran1701 (9:58:36 PM): Now, you wanna go on rattlin' yer bonebox so you can prove yerself smarter than a kid half yer age?
SongstressEnlil (9:59:37 PM): I apologize. Such questioning is custom in my world among the educated, I was under the impression that it would be encouraged here, given that, quite frankly, you have struck more of a chord with me in five minutes (con)
SongstressEnlil (9:59:45 PM): than any other in five hours.
Idran1701 (10:01:59 PM): *softens a bit, though still frowning* ...Fair 'nough. Like I said, though, you wanna do that, head t' th' Hall o' Speakers. That's th' whole point o' th' buildin', after all.
SongstressEnlil (10:02:29 PM): *Nods*
Idran1701 (10:02:43 PM): (Anything more, or can we cut here? :O)
SongstressEnlil (10:02:51 PM): Once I have finished here, if it's permissible.
SongstressEnlil (10:02:57 PM): (Certainly so)
Idran1701 (10:03:15 PM): Sure i' is. All y' got t' do is head down there, put y'r name on th' list.
Idran1701 (10:03:40 PM): *smirks a bit* Y'r a Prime, right? See if y' can't go up 'gainst Cirily. I'd love t' see that.
Idran1701 (10:04:15 PM): (And so would I. :D)
SongstressEnlil (10:04:31 PM): (Hahahah. =D)
Idran1701 (10:06:19 PM): (And now we really cut :D)
Idran1701 (10:06:30 PM): (I'll fill you in on what Karl learns later on.)
SongstressEnlil (10:06:37 PM): .(Roito)
(10:07:46 PM) SongstressEnlil has left the room.
