Country notes, from southernmost to northernmost:

For scale, Gorland is approximately the size of France, about 250,000 square miles.

  • Bregis has a very humid jungle climate, and as such is uncomfortable for most civilized races; however, there may or may not be the remains of ancient races on the island, interesting for adventurers and archaeologists but not a nice place to live.
  • Nubolia is similar to the Muslim world in culture. It's mostly desert, especially in the middle, which is populated by traveling nomads.
  • In Kordas, the people are more settled and urbane, but the climate is similar to that of Nubolia. The difference there is that Kordas has important minerals, including diamonds, in its mountains. Kordasans are also known to be religious.
  • Gremance was once a center of culture, but a half century of wars between the Deists and Elementalists have left the nation in shambles.
  • Kuvich and Gellion are poor and underdeveloped, with a few natural resources but nothing major.
  • Cold-water currents coming from the north give the island nation of Caldo little variance in its weather; it's temperate year-round, not nearly as warm as the other countries in the same latitude. Caldo City is a major metropolis, having been planned there for that reason.
  • Letiko is a beautiful country of scenic vistas, and would be a nice place to live were it not for a history of extreme militarism and a virtual parade of dictatorial regimes.
  • Lotia and the Lotian Islands are something like paradise. The climate is great, and the plant life is wonderful. It's a haven for wealthy foreigners, as well, who exploit the poorer natives. The north parts of continental Lotia are colder and less desirable for that reason.
  • Gorland has warm summers and irritatingly cold winters but is a very urban and developed nation, a well-organized constitutional republic known for its many freedoms.
  • The Theocracy of Erom is the religious center of the Elementalist religion, who believe that the universe is governed by the four Elemental Spirits. The climate is like Gorland's without the legendary winters.
  • Cebla is mostly forest, and run by elves who are more than slightly xenophobic. Cebla Castle is just the name of an elven city now; the old human castle itself is mostly rubble.
  • Clorey is the Land of Mages. It used to be a little rock, but wizards and their spells came, and now it's a major country. They make the island bigger when they need room. They don't produce anything but magic items and earth-shattering arrogance, and thus they need to trade extensively, mostly with Gorland. Of interest is also the fact that the Cloreyans have adopted Draconic as their official language.
  • Due to an ancient pact, Creib is actually two kingdoms, one on top of the other. A human king rules to a depth of 10', in most cases, and beneath that are the homes of the dwarves. The north part of Creib is very mountainous, separating itself from the sea.
  • Praba is a monarchy, and the ruling family are extremely xenophobic human supremacists. It's cold up there, as well, and hilly.
  • The Balui Islands are cold and pretty much worthless, but they're convenient for trade between Kyotan and the mainland.
  • Kyotan has an Asian culture, or what an Asian culture would be if China and Japan had a climate similar to that of Alaska, complete with frozen tundra. However, they're a very ancient civilization, and they do have a lot of natural resources.
  • No one lives on Dragonmaw Isle except savages, weresharks, and some settlers. It's extremely difficult to settle. The savages get pissed easily.

Gods:

  • Oros: God of the sun and creator of all life. Fights a never-ending battle against undead, the perversion of life, and their creator, Kel'vlash. Lawful Good. Favored weapon: Flail. Domains: Courage (CW), (Divination), Glory (CD), Good, Law, Strength, Sun. Holy symbol: Sun disk.
  • Leiala: Goddess of healing, protection, and peace. Formerly a mortal healer, she was elevated to goddesshood after tending to the wounds of Oros and bringing him back to full strength after he was greviously wounded by Kel'vlash. Many of her clerics are pacifists. Neutral Good. Favored weapon: Mace, usually merciful. Domains: Good, Community (CD), Creation (CD), (Family), Healing, Protection, Purification (CD). Holy symbol: Seven-pointed star in a heptagon.
  • Cyander: Trickster god, also patron deity of invention and luck. Famous adventures include losing one of his four (now three) heads after stealing Oros's crown, inventing alcohol, and giving birth to a flock of birds after accidentally cooking and eating every single one in existence at a banquet he held. Chaotic Neutral. Favored weapon: Dagger. Domains: Chaos, (Charm), Creation (CD), Greed (Drac), Liberation, Luck, Trickery. Holy symbol: Three heads attached at the top of the neck: one angry, one laughing, and one either asleep or afraid (there is dissention among theologians as to which one is correct, but both function correctly).
  • Gred: God of battle and strength, Gred delights in bravery, loyalty, and freedom and cannot abide cowardice or tyranny. He carries a magic sword, Verburon, that can leap out of its sheath and swing itself to slaughter cowards. Chaotic Good. Favored weapon: Greatsword. Domains: Chaos, Courage (CD), Good, Liberation (CD), Strength, War, (Wrath). Holy symbol: A sword gripped in a strong hand.
  • Lianderus: God of chivalry and nobility. Many of his worshippers are paladins, and indeed paladins as a whole are often referred to as Knights of Lianderus, because of a myth about Lianderus bequeathing powers of good to the first paladin, Terial. Lawful Good. Favored weapon: Longsword. Domains: (Army), Courage (CW), (Exorcism), Good, Law, Nobility (CD), War. Holy symbol: A shield with the silhouette of a roaring lion emblazoned on it.
  • Barem: God of time and the earth, and creator of the dwarves. Barem also watches over prophets and in fact is responsible for giving many of them their power. Lawful Neutral. Favored weapon: Warhammer. Domains: Earth, Fate (CW), Law, Oracle (CD), Planning (CD), Protection, (Time). Holy symbol: A hammer superimposed over a mountain.
  • Aeor: Blind god of justice and retribution. He allowed himself to be blinded so he could not see if the mortals he judges are beautiful or ugly. That way, he could always be totally impartial, no matter what. He is Cyander's enemy, and persists in believing that Cyander is secretly out to do evil. Lawful Neutral*. Favored weapon: Halberd. Domains: Destruction, Fate (CW), Force (CD), Inquisition (CD), Law, Protection, (Retribution). Holy symbol: A round disk, half white and half black, with another disk inside it with the colors reversed. A Cleric of Aeor cannot be any alignment except Lawful Neutral.
  • Caelesa: Goddess of the woodlands, freedom, and nature. The elves are Caelesa's children, and many revere her (though they are free to worship other gods as they see fit), as do many rangers and some druids. Chaotic Good. Favored weapon: Longbow. Domains: Animal, Celerity (CD), Chaos, Community (CD), Good, (Liberation), Weather (CD). Holy symbol: A thin, feminine hand holding a bundle of arrows.
  • Redo: Keeper of the dead and god of magic and knowledge. He keeps those dead that have not proven themselves to be worthy of salvation before his brother, Aeor, in a desolate place known as the Gray Chamber. Neutral. Favored weapon: Spear. Domains: Cold (CD), Death, Fate (CD), Knowledge, Magic, Mysticism (CD), (Tyranny). Holy symbol: A pair of barred doors.
  • Naxio: Deity (non-sexual) of self-perfection. Believed to have been a mortal monk who ascended to godhood by attaining perfection of mind, body, and soul. Lawful neutral. Favored weapon: Unarmed strike. Domains: (Balance), Competiton (CD), Force (CD), Law, Planning (CW), Strength, Mind (CD). Holy symbol: A fist. However, clerics of Naxio (few as they are) have been known to turn undead with anything they believe totally in, including their own hands.
  • Loer: Goddess of travel, wanderlust, and luck. She has been on a never-ending journey since time began, and never rests. Exerpts from her journey are written down in the form of what is more or less the goddess' journal in the Book of Infinite Ways. Chaotic neutral. Favored weapon: Quarterstaff. Domains: Celerity (CD), Chaos, Liberation (CD), Luck, (Renewal), Summoner (CD), Travel. Holy symbol: Any kind of shoe or boot, as long as it is worn out.
  • Kel'vlash: Creator and ruler of the undead. The souls of those whose bodies have been made into mindless undead are kept by him in a place of torment (far worse than Redo's Gray Chamber), and intelligent undead, evil necromancers, and other evildoers are frequent worshippers of his. Neutral evil. Favored weapon: Sickle. Domains: Death, Dream (CD), Evil, Illusion, Pestilence, Spirit, Undeath. Holy symbol: A skull with purple-glowing eye sockets and an open mouth.
  • Manzura-Cuara: Monstrous goddess of slaughter and cruelty, often called She of the Bloody Eyes. She teaches her followers to delight in killing for killing's sake and live recklessly and selfishly. She is often depicted as a swarm of bloodshot eyes, hence her title. Chaotic evil.
