Cavern kobolds, the kind that are most often used as a stereotype, tend to have more malicious tendencies. Cavern kobolds also are extreme cowards, and prefer wearing dull colors. The other variety, surface kobolds, are far more light-hearted, tend to be far less cowardly, and prefer wearing light colors. For unknown reasons, kobolds despise half-breed children of their own race. Such beings are usually ostracized constantly, and some are even tortured to death. Even stranger, cavern kobolds and surface kobolds despise each other, and one type will always fight the other type if worse circumstances do not interfere. Normal kobolds --that is, those who have not been ostracized for some reason-- lack respect for any authority they do not have a part in. It is usually this reason that causes them to band together against other races, which makes them a shunned race overall. Most kobolds do not live to their maximum age.
